http://www.miamiherald.com/2010/03/02/1509024/competition-heats-up-for-miami.html Come on Tuna, this is the same media that could not pierce the Matt Roth veil of secrecy when the dude loved to go clubbing, do you think they will hide in bathroom stalls at Davie just waiting for a impromptu conversation concerning the second #6 draft pick? Please, this is the same media that only made vague comments about Joey Porter going full fledged Diva during the season, it took Joey Porter going on local radio, grabbing a microphone and telling anyone who would listen "get me out of Miami" before the story really broke...and even then it had to be done during Super Bowl week, if the game had been in New Orelans we never would have known a thing until Joey led of a Sportscenter with "...he was cut today by the Miami Dolphins..." Settle down Big Fella..invite JT out for a round of golf...
Bro...I don't know man...it's not like the Gang that can't shoot straight is scooping any information about players beforehand.. Typically 'Mando has the same confused look we all have when a Jake Grove or Eric Green winds up in Miami...but then again 'Mando always has that slightly confused look..
Perhaps his (continued) vigilance is why there haven't been many leaks during their stay? Nothing wrong with reiterating that desire as the days wind down.
Yes and no Muck, as fans we really look for insider type of information and in theory the local sports media should scratch that itch, however they rarely, very rarely if ever manage to discover even a tiny nugget of information. Information that attracts readership to the commercial concern that manages to acquire it. Yet the local media rarely manages to acquire that information, we had 2 starting Lb's from the 08 AFCE winning team leave under clouds and no one could report any insight whatsoever about who what were and why's of that happening. That seems a bit counterproductive doesn't it? Unless listening to Ireland make the most absurd of denials is entertaining? "Joey Porter said what? Nope, never heard it" That seems a bit out of touch no?
I dont want it ahead of time....dont need to know before hand.....let them be secret, as fans we will learn once its officially announced. I would much rather have the CONE of SILENCE from all corners of this organization, and produce positive announcements to FA signings, trades, etc....than have leak after leak and have it derail moves, or acquisitions....or worse....burn useless cycles (and threads and posts) speculating about garbage that never happens. Nope....zip the lip works for me....no need to be fly on the wall....waste of time.
Sure, its out of touch. But what is better in terms of the organization winning games? It sucks not getting inside info the way we want it, but at the same time I'll trade that off if it means other organizations don't have info on us either.
Baghdad Jeff Ireland? "There is nothing to see here, my prediction is Joey Porter will be a miami dolphin for a long time, that is all"? The Phins should drop some crumbs off of the table every now and then, it helps the local media and maybe buys them some slack down the road.
Nope, but back in the day reporters would go to the same clubs as the players and chat them up after they got their drink on.
As much as I love hearing anything Dolphins related, I expect most of it to be just conjecture. If it means helping our team secure a FA or a trade, then I'd agree everyone in the loop ought to STFU.
If only humans were so easily satisfied. Once you give them a crumb, they want a buffet. The appetite for information is never satisfied. Plus, isn't it fun seeing some of these moves come out of nowhere?
For me, it is the moves that are never made that are more interesting SB, everyone can see a successful move, but what ones like Brown for B Edwards? Here is how out of balance things are, one can learn a heck of alot more just reading Twitter than one can ever learn by reading the newspapers.
I can see that Pads, however in the end the organization owes no debt of insider info to anybody, and in my opinion, it should remain that way...
Not sure if anyone caught this but Mando went as far as claiming he had an exclusive on porter wanting out while also making it clear he wrote this exclusive after Porter appeared on the radio demanding to be released. It's sad when our local reporters don't even know what an exclusive is.
Happens all the time fy, reporters cultivate sources in exchange for messaging, the reporter receives things like Porter's diva routine and in exchange publishes information helpful to the team like reasons why big money was not paid to the recently departed player..
put it this way, if it is a lie, I want it to be published, smokescreens all day...the truth or their real intentions I want no part of...granted I'd like to know, but for the better of the team I dont need the info....I like guessing, even though I'm wrong all the time.....although Pads I was right on that Porter thing until Ms. Aponte gaffed....does she even have that job still...?
This time of yr Fy, i'd be happy with lying rumors over...nothing at all...better scuttlebutt than no butt at all..
hahahahah you should live here with Pats news, you get even less than Miami...I don't think they even exists until Sept, they are so silent...
why for boards like this?? pshhhh....keep it silent and it will create less garbage to be sifted through...hahahahaha and its Baseball Spring Training time right now....will be happy to sit back and hear the accurate factual news from Miami FO, when it happens....no needs to waste time and energy on scuttlebutt...its useless in everything. its sinks ships...hahahaa
Thank goodness for pats fans though, a 30 minute Belichek presser would clog the highway with Pats fans who fell asleep listening to Lurch palendrome about some nonsensical player move. "I-85 is backed up all the way to Worcester, Belicheck is giving a presser and knockin' more people out than Tyson!"
I have to do the same thing with my crews at work. Sometimes you just have to say it because you just have to say it. Keep them thinking about things that are important.
