Jeff_Darlington I just received a text from a source about Richie Incognito: "A deal has been reached!" the text reads. Looks like he is a Miami Dolphin....so where does he fit in?? They said he is going to battle for the starting RG spot but, depth at C is where I see him, as Disgustipate said..
Adam_Schefter Former Rams G Richie Incognito has reached agreement on a one-year deal with the Dolphins. one year deal...."a bit over a million"...trial run...if he does well, they will lock him up...this is a no lose situation...Miami doesnt have faith their O-Line can stay healthy
i don't see him finish where he starts.in that he will probly start the year over donald thomas at rg then end up moving either to lg or c due to an injury at one of those positions a little later in the yr.
Incognito as a left guard backup & jack of all trades, our new team gad-fly @ the right price & contract, makes sense have Dimitri (the RoadGrader) & Murtha to compete/back up @ RG & RT respectively lot of depth & potential competition should have an outrageous front line in 2010 already we are in the top 5 & climbing they've been aiming @ potentially seven starting-quality offensive linesmen to rotate avoiding injury & burn-out as we move thru the season maybe w/ Incognito & Dimtri we have arrived Competition is the Elixir of Success
Jeff_Darlington With incentives, Incognito could make just upward of $1.25 million, source said. But not much more than that -- even as a starter. Maxed out at 1.25, even if it is a one year deal, is a good signing....he is good enough to start that remains to be seen...competition is good though....
Good and Bad... good signing with little to lose if he screws up. But if he doesn't screw up and is a real stud and upgrades our already pretty good OL we might end up hitting ourselves in the head at not offering him a longer contract for a reasonable price, because next year we might be put in a position of paying out some major bucks to keep him.
Great signing. Adds depth if he doesn't win the RG job and adds some nastiness to the O-Line. Hopefully we can control him a bit though so he doesn't cost us with dumb penalties.
Its a solid signing... IF, a big if, he can start to take responsibilities of his actions and realise that he is a talented player with 47 NFL starts at 26 years of age, this could work. I just have some concerns regarding his maturity and ability to handle his temper.
These are the type of low risk/high reward signings that I have been jelous of other teams doing over the years. Nice work by the Trifecta to get us one.
Am I the only one who doesn't think Incognito will make it to the regular season? I just have a feeling he'll be cut. I hope I'm wrong and he works out, because he does have talent.
It could be 'roid rage related...just saying, then if he gets caught it is not such a good signing. Signed, Devil's Advocate
arguably though u could say the guard will hurt Miami more in the actual game.....the receiver will hurt you outside the game....but one could say that the effects would carry over into the actual game...
me thinks you missed the point on the diva recieva thread glad we signed him. we needed another interior lineman who can be called on to play C or G if need be. we don't want a repeat of the center fiasco that happened against carolina last season hope he doesnt steal carey's job LOL
Fully agree. He was actually a witness to a college steroid ring case, by the way. Never fully 'caught', just knew most of the guys involved. And he has a rage problem. 2+2=?
Imagine: A piece of red meat is tossed into a small cage where a starving Richie Incognito and Jake Grove are being kept. Who wins? Go.
Yes and no. Even if he does well this year, teams will question whether he was controlling himself for one year to get a "mega-contract" and then will go back to being a headcase when he gets his payday. That means the Phins may be able to get him signed to another one year deal for maybe twice the money or at least a deal with a lot of incentives for behavior. This was a good move for the Phins. With the depth we now have at Guard, I'd like to see them offer a trade to the Lions for DT Rodgers. Offer them Garner or Thomas and a 6th for Shaun Rodgers. We'd solve our NT issue before the draft and still have a little depth on the OL. Whoops, I mean a trade with the Browns for Rogers. LOL.
If he gets a suspension with regards to something he does to Calvin Pace or Bart Scott i would view it as Value Added from the Phins point of view. Just sayin'
From everything I've read, the Dolphins "plan" is to let him compete at RG with Thomas because the Dolphins are unhappy with Thomas's lack of foot speed and his inability to pull. The Dolphins, apparently, like Garner in the utility role and plan to let him fill that role as primary injury replacement. I guess we'll see. One thing is for sure, Incognito is a physical specimen and, if he can keep his head on straight, can be a major upgrade for our line. I think playing on a winning team vice the Bills and Rams will go a long way toward keeping him happier.
Now I don't know much about this Incognito guy, but I did read he was a bit of a troublemaker i.e. verbally assaulting his coaches and such. Now what I don't get is the trifecta is staying away from Brandon Marshall because he used to be a troublemaker yet they go ahead and commit to another troublemaker???
looks good to me demitri will give LG a run icognito will compete @ rg & backup @ center the Orca-5 are set the Pod is complete can't wait for training campParcells & Co.
Here's kind of an odd fact: Both Incognito and Parcells are from Englewood New Jersey. It's a small world, maybe their families know each other or something. (or maybe not)
i dont support this move...i bet some of you wont either, when he commits a boneheaded personal foul when the game is on the line.
