Problem is alot of these guys are just in it for the big payday and once they get it the incredible athlete slowly disappears... NFL really needs to do something about rookie salaries, getting signed shouldn't be like winning the lotto they should have to earn it. It would probably go along way toward fixing conduct and performance issues if certain players weren't already set for life upon signing their name to a contract fresh out of college without ever having played a down in the NFL.

He's unquestionably the best WR prospect in this draft...........but please, you guys carry on with the assassination because you all want defense at #12 overall

Hey don't get me wrong, Adarius Bowman is a great addition to the CFL and I expect that he and Phil Hunt will lead Winnipeg to the playoffs this year.

Keep some perspective JS, we are picking at #12, no matter who they pick we will end up with a solid player for a long long time.

And telling the facts about something or someone is never a "assassination".

    Oh come on Padre.....lol

Trying to tell me that you guys aren't jumping on any and everything you can to put the kid down?.....there's no exaggeration going on? Please...

There's a list of guys that could be available at #12 and everyone of them have question marks....there are no guarantees that any of those LB's will pan out, be a good fit in a 3-4 or be able to make the transition from 4-3 to 3-4.

Cleats or not, this kid's a play maker

He's probably the best prospect in the draft but problem is it's pointless to take a risk on him performancewise when we can just use the #12 on Marshall and be guaranteed a top 5 WR. If i'm gonna gamble on someone with off field issues it's gonna be the proven prospect on the field. Problem is the FO doesn't seem to be interested in any proven prospects at WR they seem to be infatuated with finding a diamond in the rough so we are all screwed as far as that goes...

If there had been nothing to jump on, the whole line of thought would not exist, no one here made D Bryant forget his cleats and fail to grasp the intricacies of the 3 cone drill..

With a Lb, you can always point them upfield and tell them to kill the guy with the ball.

Doesn't work that way for a Wr.

    Why is that assumed?

I recall a guy from Wisconsin a couple of years ago, Paul Hubble, dude could jump out of the stadium and ran 4.4 40's, wonderful athlete, he went late in the draft and was cut be Cleveland of all teams.

Athletic ability does not guarantee on the field production.

Im unsure on him. I think i like the option of drafting a WR in the 2nd better than drafting one in the 1st.

Because those things will make him less of a red zone threat or make teams respect him out on the field less?

Then surely you haven't watched much of Crowder or any other Fins LB drafted in the past decade plus, not named Zach Thomas.

At number 12, there's gonna be concerns with anyone we target. I'd rather have concerns about his maturity than his talent or on field ability.

We took Davis last year with maturity concerns and sure enough, he showed up acting like a dumb kid. But.....he had the physical ability and talent and it didn't take long before ppl with the Fins helped him get his head on straight. Which is doable......making him a better talent isn't.

We would be lucky as he'll to draft Dez. Kid is a manchild period. Anyone who listens to the media these days is as stupid as they are. Dan Marino was a coc head according to rumors before we drated him. Wonder how that rumor got started. Thankyou for being a genius mr Shula. Dez is a diva. Whatever. I wouldn't want to be associated with the knuckleheads in college trying to be my buddies and on my gravy train. Personally I will be happy with berry, dez or Earl.

the thing is bro Miami HAS TO HAS TO HAS TO hit at 12 a productive everyday starter, is cant be development project (Dan Williams), a rotational player (CJ Spiller), it has to be an everyday starter, and one who fills a needs, and makes plays....IMO Earl Thomas, and yes Dez Bryant are the 2 that make the most sense to do so....then I break it down to again having to have that player to be that guy....I going with the safe pick, and that is Thomas...

Our redzone offence was fine last yr, ditto our 3rd down conversion rate.

#2 in the NFL in fact, which won't be lost on the FO.

All the more reason to replace Crowder, and Zach was not an effective blitzer either.

Disagree, at #12, whomever we take will be incredibly athletic, everyone in the NFL who plays regularly is a athlete, that is where the intangiables like maturity and discipline and drive make the difference between bust and 10 yr player.

Cb is a much much simpler transition into the NFL than Wr, hands down heck even Jason Allen can play Cb acceptably well, a Wr who does not have their head on straight won't play, they can't as it will hamper the offense.

I agree to a point.....IMO, the two most important positions we need to get a top prospect at are WR and FS,

And while Thomas is as solid of a person as you will likely find in this draft, his game has more holes in it than Bryant's does.... and that's why I choose Bryant over him. I'm more concerned with what happens on the field...

    Gil Brandt

UPDATE: A few more Bryant numbers to pass along. He measured in at 6-foot-1 1/2 and 224 pounds, and he had a 38-inch vertical, an 11-foot-1 broad jump, 4.48-second short shuttle and 7.21-second three-cone drill.

That was our overall rate which was greatly enhanced by being 100% on 3rd and short. However, on 3rd and 7+ (passing downs) we were one of the worst.

lol..yeah, thanks to our running game. You seriously going to tell me that this team has no need for a better red zone target?

    .

ILB is not a core position........using too much of our resources at that spot in the same year, with all the holes we have is just a ridiculous mistake

I'm talking about panning out in the NFL.......making the transition. Which is what is most important and Bryant is easily top ten this year in that regard.

That's an exaggeration, pads.........no way is CB as easy of a transition as you insinuate......in fact, it's just as tough if not tougher than WR.

I bet if you look over the last two seasons you will find more rookie success at WR than you do at CB.

(Knows padre went straight to google and is awaiting the results)

It is what it is Rafi, our overall rate was #2, and 3rd and 7's are not exactly commonly convertable, what was the conversion rate for even the best team?

Nah, the Wr has to know what routes to run and make sight adjustments, the Cb merely has to know a couple of things like if they have help over the top or if their is a blitz on and zone responsibilities.

    All fairly simple.

That is just not true......and it's exactly why ppl were freaking out over the fact we ended up starting 2 rookie corners.......and exactly why two very good prospects, struggled like hell throughout the year.

We were among the worst, pads......that's a problem.

How can you dismiss the need for more play making target/red zone threats after witnessing that debacle we called a WR unit last year?

What it is is horrid. When we need to pass we can't. That destroys your chances in a passing league.

By my count we were successful on 22% of our 3 and 7+ conversion attempts. I don't know what the best teams get, but I do know that over the last five years or so the league average is 37% - 40%. So we're 15% - 18% below being average.

It's a huge deal, it shows the guy does not prepare. The biggest day in his life (because he put off the other big days in his life) and he shows up unprepared. He didn't loose them, he forgot them. What the heck else did he have to bring with him?

He may end up being a great WR, but this guy has a ton of red flags also.

I for one would not touch him.

That would be false, Pickney borrowed CJ shoes because he showed up in tennis shoes.

And CJ is often mentioned as humble and well mannered, he did not have all the red flags as Dez.

What big days in his life has he put off? I'm going to assume you have a 1st hand knowledge of his life to know what other big days he's put off by the way, in order to make such a claim.
