GIK, is it possible to cut Sanchez and sign myself as a street FA? I always wanted to be an NFL star.
Nah. He was mediocre in college (his 1 year). He has really bad footwork, a fair arm and terrible vision. he won't have Thomas Jones, and that is gonna be a HUGE blow, he was in almost ideal conditions behind probably the best line in Football with pretty good recievers and he still managed? 21 int's and 10 Td's I believe. If it wasn't for the over-hype machine coming out of NY, he would be considered just another pedestrian QB. His line is another year older, with zero depth and Jones is gone and Leon will be ailing for awhile. We will see.
what did you expect from a rookie qb? people are blinded by the success that matt ryan and joe flacco had 2 years ago. rookie qb's usually dont excel like that in their first year. theyre the exception, not the rule. im not gonna lie, the loss of jones will be big - but shonn greene performed well enough for the organization to be confidenent in the young rb. nobody had greene breaking out in the playoffs like he did. i dont know how washington will be 'ailing' like welker will. if they didnt have lt, id probably agree about the running back depth. i dont think he'll have a great year, but with a less workload, i believe he'll surprise some people.
and if you think 3200 yards, 65.8%, 34 tds and 10 int's is mediocre...oh hell i'll take that anyday from a kid with little experience id be amazed as to what your opinion of "good" is if thats mediocre haha
I thought Sanchez performed pretty well last year for a guy who was a rookie as a starter. He was very inexperienced coming out of college.
Leon has been told to stay away from camp because he wasnt signing his tender. The Jets tendered hm as a 2nd and he still wants a longer term deal, rightfully so, after he took the leap of good faith and accepted the 1 year tender last year and got hurt. You forgot that they replaced Jones with a washed up LT. And Greene has never stayed healthy. They still have no pass rush unless they keep using the crash and burn blitzes.
I agree I thought Sanchez was about as decent as I thought he would be...he obviously had some growing pains but I think he will be a solid NFL Qb for a long time.
Agreed. And I thought he showed some flashes of the deep ball thrown well, which I liked. I had him rated as the top QB coming out, so some may think I'm biased, but that dude has a bright future IMO. It's just a damn shame he's a Jet. Also, I thought you did a nice job replacing Quinn for Sanchez. That's a clear upgrade IMO.
it doesnt help sanchez that he has braylon edwards. no telling how many passes will hit braylon in the facemask this year, again. they should play it safe and re-sign coles.
IMO, the best thing about Sanchez's rookie year was that he didn't completely melt in the mental aspect. After throwing INT's, he still came back and made difficult throws and still tested defenses. That was a plus. Here's what I wrote in September of last year.
Not sure what you're talking about. Snatchez had 10 TD's and 20 Int's.....and yeahan I would call that pretty damn mediocre. Actually, I would call that really bad
