Has there been any talk about potentially getting our own brand new stadium/bowl? I really think playing in that stadium takes a bit away from it.
NEVER going to happen. The Coral Gables reps won't allow it, neither will Miami City Commissioners. I was jogging through Tropical Park and there's plenty of room there for a stadium...but it'll never happen. Hard to justify building a stadium for ONLY 6 GAMES in this economy. Shalala and Hocutt are most concerned with raising more money 1st (especially since Shannon admittedly sucks at soliciting for $$$) for the contracts of the coaches on staff. There just isn't enough money or political pressure for a new stadium. If people want Sun Life Stadium to have more "spirit," get as many people you can to attend home games.
Can only do so much... oh well, I do my part. Season ticket holder for both the Dolphins & Canes for the rest of my life.
Miami Hurricanes coach Randy Shannon signs four-year deal "It took a while - a really, really long while - but University of Miami football fans finally know who their coach will be in 2011 and beyond. The same one as the past three seasons. After months -- even years -- of waiting and wondering when and if he would get a contract extension, Randy Shannon has been rewarded with a new four-year contract, the university announced Wednesday night. Shannon was about to enter his final season of the original four-year deal." http://www.miamiherald.com/2010/05/...s-offer-four-year.html#storylink=omni_popular
I dont understand why he got a new deal. I mean it helps recruiting but I was thinking this was a make or break year for him. How do you guys feel?
I was kind of surprised with a 21-17 head coachig record @ UM. It's great that kids are graduating, but winning a bowl game would be nice too. A season of experience with the new coordinators should help, and the team seems very happy that he's back. I hope that's enough for a great upcoming season of Hurricanes football.
Same here, good to see this. However too bad they didn't pick a more central location for the first game. This could be more like 1.5 home games versus 1. Distance from South Bend to Soldier Field: 93 miles. Distance from Miami to Soldier Field: 1,377 miles.

espn reporting that USC recruit Seantrel Henderson has been released from his letter of intent. he was in miami visiting last week and miami does have a scholarship available should he commit. - Espn TV @ 11:46PM EST
ESPN: Seantrel Announces The U of Miami will be his destination! Thank you Lebron James for helping this to happen!
http://www.miamiherald.com/2010/07/10/1724665_p2/magic-gm-lakers-are-still-best.html Teddy Bridgewater apparently recruits players better than the "U"'s staff..
Lebatard is teasing that in a couple of Hours, the herald will have a story about the U getting into a bit of trouble. time to **** your pants.
he says the story runs across the athletic department. he says that he doesn't think it will be too bad. I hope not. the program finally got back from the coker years, now this?
http://www.miamiherald.com/2010/08/06/1765034/um-investigated-by-ncaa-for-impermissible.html here is the story. recruiting violations. not serious. I don't think.
I've read that Seantrel Henderson has looked good. Wonder if picks it up quick enough to start on the blindside so Orlando Franklin can go back to Guard?
Alen, don't sell Franklin short as a tackle.....and yes I know everyone and their mother thinks he is a guard in the NFL, but I think he can play RT and be solid at it.
Indicted fmr Booster to allege NCAA violations by the "U" http://www.sportsbybrooks.com/felon-who-stole-900m-ready-to-rat-out-the-u-28906 Hmm, not sure what to make of it, Shannon runs a tight ship, or appears to, to the point Jacory couldn't advertise he was attending a party, so this Shapiro fella may have went behind the "official" U of M backs.
nike pro combat uniforms video. low quality phone video. http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/9284210#utm_campaign=twitter.com&utm_source=9284210&utm_medium=social
Here's a rendition of one of the variations of the new Hurricanes uniforms. I think this one is supposed to be worn during the home game against VT on Nov 20th.
Im not sure i like the uniform...to me it looks like orange jumpsuits...almost like nike is calling the U a bunch of "thugs". I do like the helmet and the gloves when you put them together say "U" on them http://miami.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1120406
does anyone know of a different way to watch the game than espn3? i have centurylink and its not on espn3's affiliates list.
