It's life. Meh, whatever. I love this team but you deny a guy a spot on your team, he is free to go elsewhere. The team shows no loyalty to the players, and vice versa.
I don't get how the FO was screwing him. They were going to wait until after the draft to determine whether they would pursue him, and JT knew this. The FO obviously wanted to see what would happen in the draft and whether they would be able to find his replacement or not. It was a gamble the FO made, and now if they don't draft someone that will replace him, then it was a bad gamble.
The Fins didn't want to sign Zach Thomas, he wouldn't play for the Patriots. Thats Honor. Thats somebody that loved his community and team. JT is what he has always been a DIVA. He's going to the Jets because they are trying to buy their championship this year. Even if they win, who cares when you buy it?? Maybe they should have taken a look at the Washington Redskins, you can't buy championships. See ya JT, wouldn't wanna be ya.
You're right. Blame should be shared. I think JT wanted to play here, but just never was wanted this year. I don't blame him for taking another job. I haven't heard of ANY other team asking for his services. He wants to play and he took the only deal out there. I think many of us would do the same thing given the same scenerio.
for what? not wanting him at this point this is a business they dont have to show loyalty to jt thay are trying to win football games and he wasnt a part of their plan obviously that is often overlooked when dealing with aged stars
JT to the JETS only proves he is a hypocrite and has very little character after his history with them. I feel bad the Jets fans have to swallow this **** in a way. It's different from pennington because while pennington beat us many times, I always had respect for him and his class...JT was always downright ridiculously rude about the jets and their fans...to the point it was personal. big difference.
Mike Tannenbaum: "hey Rex we signed Jason Taylor" Rex Ryan: "that's great, I'm going to eat him" Mike Tannenbaum: "he's not for eating!"
I agree mostly with this. I wouldn't say that JT was not part of their plan, I'd say that he wasn't part of their pre-draft plan, which is very subject to change after the draft. I believe that if a OLB was not drafted to replace JT, then they'd pursue him and he would then become part of the revised plan.
I dont see how they are at fault at all. They offered JT an extension. The only way it would be is if they traded him to the Jets. Most fans dont mind him leaving...but to the JETS? That was his decision alone.
I haven't heard of any other teams making him an offer or even a visit. Please list the 12 or provide a link.
here's from march, i know i read an article said 11 or 12 http://twitter.com/Jeff_Darlington/status/10337139625
http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d817a3f9f&template=with-video-with-comments&confirm=true So JT has not and will not sign until Wednesday. I wonder if its still possible this wont happen.
i was called a troll, a troublemaker, and told i should be banned from this site for my opinions on jason taylor. i took enough heat over it i should be able to voice my opinion now that he is gone
I understand alot of our fans are upset at JT for signing with the Jets but this classless act from some people on this board is uncalled for. The guy took a HUGE pay cut to joint Miami last year and did alot for this community and busted his butt to help this team the best way he knew how. He gave it his all on the field and off it. Yeah, its tough to see him leave for New York but business is business. I wish him the best and I will always respect JT on what hes done for us.
I think once Taylor told his agent that FO wanted to deal directly with taylor, his agent went to the jets on spite. He was pushing taylor to go to the jets. I did lose respect for taylor by going to jets because he once said he would rather retire than ever play for them.
Muck its apples and oranges. Ricky retired, JT is a traitor. He is the "player" (ala Bill Parcells treatment of TO) from now on. I cannot utter its name now without extreme disppointment.
And with this we now have gotten rid of the two players that scored 3 of the 4 TDs in the 2nd Jets game last year.
Pain in my heart... Sharp pain!!! This is the big one...!!! I'm really pissed right now but glad it wasn't Zach who went there... Anywhere else!!! anywhere.... UGH!!!!!!!!!!!! JT, be smart... There is plenty of money to be had in Hollywood!
If a few weeks ago someone where to say to you; You can have Marshall BUT you won't get JT back because of salary implications(or whatever) reason. Would you have taken this deal? I would....
You really think JT is hurting for money?? Well JT always wanted to pursue that acting carrer out in Hollywood, I'd say now would have been just as good of a time as any. Maybe he can be on Dancing with the Stars Allstars or something. Anything is better than putting on a Jets jersey.
Cool, respect that view. For me, as a a fan of the Miami Dolphins and not of an individual player I'd hope for JT to have his worst season yet. How Jets fans could even THINK of rooting for him is beyond me.
Like Bryan Cox, Keith Byers, Larry Izzo, and Wes Welker, he's now going to be just a guy playing for a rival team. All sentimental associations with him are severed. Whether you blame JT or the Phins, the fact ia his legacy is not going to be as strong as it could've been here, just like those other guys that signed with our rivals. It wasn't Welker's call to be traded when we got poison pilled, but still his legacy was tarnished. That's just the way it works. Bye bye JT, it was nice watching you play here, but now you play for the enemy and I'm no longer obligated to root for you.
