I know I am a homer but I still have to disagree with yahoos receiver rankings . For instance if you have read the article, they have our passing offense ranked 19, and our stats last year had us ranked 20, so by: adding BM, Henne getting a year under his belt, not to mention our other receivers improving, we only move up one spot. Really? I know we have not proven anything, being that it is still May, but even speculation wise, I would have us at fifteen. But hey thats just me, what are your thoughts? Sorry no link, I have not posted enough. You can find it on yahoo and or espn under the AFC east thread.
like you said, we havn't proven anything yet, and lets not forget that other teams have upgraded their passing game with recievers or QB's, hopefully we can prove them wrong when Henne shows what he is really made of this year
I see where your coming from if they thought we were the 20th last year we should easily be the 13-th or 14th with the addition of Marshall. We now have a legit #1 and we need to find who is going to step up and be a big time #2 for us.. I think they under valued us some but there are still alot of questions off paper about this team, the QB and more.. This is the year we find out if we have a real QB or not..
Yahoo's ratings amount to diddly squat when it comes to actually getting this group on the field. Im sure we are much better, but i actually love the haters. I think it just makes this team try that much harder ( 2008 for example). I wish Yahoo would have ranked us 32.
Link to Yahoo Rankings btw: http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_ylt=Ap1R9cSUJayYS.YMucI5DxhDubYF?slug=jc-directsnap050710 I was going to post about this, but after looking at the teams above us, I can understand where they're coming from as of right now. But I think this year there is nothing holding this squad back from being one of the top ones in the NFL. The addition of Marshall will elevate everyone's game. Expect D Bess and Hartline to have less coverage. And of course, the few times they lighten up on Marshall, assuming Henne makes his appropriate steps forward in his career as most are expecting, will be making them pay. I think this is more of an "as they stand now" article, versus a prediction of how the unit will perform this year.
A little low. I like our receivers better than Pittsburgh's and Atlanta's, and I'm not sure Baltimore's are better even with Anquan Boldin. I think they still need one more speed guy. Which is why I wouldn't have minded holding onto Ginn (OMG I said his name) for one more year now that we added Marshall.
I agree with Shaunm000, let them rank us 32nd. Rankings don't mean anything, it's just perception. I just can't wait to see the play action this year...
Stupid article to begin with. How are you going to rank WRs and/or passing attacks, like this is intramural football or 7 on 7 drills. You need an OL, RBs and TE to protect the passer, a running game to keep the defense honest, and a defense to keep you in the game so that your QB doesnt need to take unecessary risks, etc. It kinda irks me to see the consumate team game dumbed down into these silly compartmentalized issues. Miami, Tennessee, NYJ are power running teams so its past dumb to compare thier WR corps with the Colts or Eagles who are pass first teams. Perhaps he's alluding to fantasy football projections. If so, I'll give him a pass but he strikes me as another guy who knows nothing about the sport except for what he saw on the highlight reels.
It was good last year, it'll could devastating this year. I see 3 or 4 teams on our schedule (NY, Pitt, Baltimore, Minneasota) who can handle our run with seven in the box, the rest of them will have to cheat, especially in the 2nd half. With Marshall drawing doube teams there should be some WIDE OPEN spots for Hartline, Bess and Fasano to run into. Dan Henning has one of the best jobs in the league...
Don't sweat it...A lot of people think that the Jets are going to win the superbowl and anyone in their right minds knows that is never going to happen
Once again, I know our offense has questions, but which offense doesn't? I think that, like others have said BM will be more than just a good receiver, he will influence others and open up the field for the 2nd and 3rd receivers. Tim graham put that while BM is a top WR, our other WR's were basically crap, but I think come September, the NFL will have a different mindset about guys on our team i.e. like Hartline fore instance.
Who really gives a crap what they think? It won't affect how our team performs any more than the stuff we post here does.
That is of course if he starts. He wasn't able to beat Pennington out before, don't see what has changed. If Pennington is healthy look for him to possibly start. May the best QB win!!
I think I would much rather the Dolphins offense be rated low and exceed expectations than for it to be rated high and fail to meet expectations. This team is still finding its identity both offensively and defensively and when it all comes together it will be exciting to watch. This is "Our Dolphins", lets enjoy the show and don't fret over the little things.
Yeahno. Not gonna happen. Penny has no upside. He's an older, oft-injured QB with a noodle arm. Henne was drafted by the current FO, has proven he has a good arm and can score points. There is no chance in hell that Penny starts.
So you want them to speculate on how good they anticipate we'll be?? Do you recall what happened a few years ago when they did that, and projected Saban's offseason moves pin pointed us as the likely favorite for the Superbowl?? Doomed our season before it began.
