I can't say I'm a big Jackson fan but there was some purported interest in him from this F.O. early in the off-season. That being said I don't see much need and therefore much (or really any) likelihood of this happening.
Jacksons a big receiver who can really stretch the field. He has what a career 17.2 YPC? I would love to see us get him, but I really just don't see it happening.
I'm not a fan b/c I don't see him as well rounded. I think he's kind of a one trick pony. IMO our offense would be more effective with a jack of all trades type opposite Marshall. I'm not saying I don't like the deep ability, I do. I just wouldn't spend big money for that alone.
I actually like where we are right now at wr. We need to concentrate on TE more than getting another wr.
Speaking of which what ever happend to David Martin? He was placed on the pup list and his agent asked for us to release him so he could hook up with another team right? Yet he's still out of the NFL. He was pretty good so that's sort of a head scratcher.
No in VJ. Agreed with the last poster on David Martin. He'd be a good seam busting, pass catching TE for us if none of the 2nd stringer shows up large in training camp.
very much doubt it ... not saying we couldn't use him ... just doubt it has much traction with the FO ...
Agree with Big E, we need a TE, we've got a pretty solid corps of WR's now with Marshall, Cammy, Hartline, Bess, Turner (please show up Pat). FS & TE are our weakest spots, except OLB's that have PROVEN they can sack the QB. Frankly I like our roster right now, so no to V. Jackson.
I could see us giving Dallas a low pick for Crayton, but I don't see giving up the high price that SD would undoubtedly want for Jackson. But honestly, I don't see either happening.
I don't see it bro. He's a good receiver don't get me wrong. I just don't see them trading for an over 30 receiver and letting him take a roster spot from one of their young guys. IMO anyway.
No I don't think it will happen. What may actually happen is AJ may reduce there contract money for Jackson, McNeil and others and it may get real nasty in San Diego.
I will go on record as saying if it got ugly enough we got him "cheap" enough I would love to have him lined up next to BM. But it will never happen.
The word here locally is that Jackson is set on staying out until week 10, then being available for the last 6 games just to get his eligibility if he doesn't get a new deal. McNeil is somewhere in between that stance.
Now AJ has everything set in stone. Watch him lower there money next. This is the way AJ is. I don't care for him as a GM at all.
http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/2010/jun/11/signing-of-wr-reed-shows-bolts-are-moving-on/ Signing of WR Reed shows Bolts are moving on However, the implication of Reed’s signing Friday is clearly that the Chargers are moving forward, preparing to fill out their receiving corps without Jackson. Jackson and McNeill are dissatisfied with the one-year contract tenders they received as restricted free agents and are, according to numerous sources, prepared to sit out into and perhaps through the season.
Pretty much, and imho the process grows worse as players realize AJ is not going to pay them a fraction of their value. SD signing Reed is a message to TO, that is the reason for the other thread, if TO/Rosenhaus aren't getting it by now, then TO will be retired no matter how cheaply he offers to work for...
He is from here in Colorado Springs and I have always loved his game, he just seems to have some off the field issues as of late.
