Took me hours, and I finally was able to 'reserve' one at the Apple store by using my Apple store iPhone app...really wish I could actually pre-order one though, so I can avoid going to the store on the 24th... Where did you get yours?
AT&T's backend is down, it's impossible to preorder at the moment. It's amazing how unprepared AT&T is for basically everything.
i just kept trying at&t.com it eventually went through took me from 8-1:30 to get it to finally work. after lunch it made progress it let me get all the way to the credit card stage before timing out, and i kept retrying until it went though.
I was totally sold on an iPhone4 until a beautiful CBR1000 became a possibility. So now it's like this... If I can get the CBR1000, no iPhone4. If I can't get the CBR, I get iPhone4 and new slim 360... Oh life... Why must you be so difficult.
I have a 3GS and have one year left on the contract... wifey however is eligible for upgrade in August... might have to give her mine and get hers then... the old shifteroo-because-we're-on-the-same-plan deal...
AT&T Sold out of pre orders http://gizmodo.com/5564420/att-iphone-4-pre+orders-sold-out When was the last time a droid phone even took preorders?
You can still upgrade yours if you wish. Just as they did with the 3G launch, AT&T is letting you upgrade even if you aren't eligible yet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
We get it, you're all Chinese school girls masquerading as techno dweeb hipsters...(I'm out of control)
If you get an iphone you should totally get this AR.Drone: http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/15/parrot-ar-drone-hits-the-us-this-september-for-299/#comments
Just got home from work and tried to pre order and got ye ole pre-orders for the iphone are temporarily suspended. yay
I have to wait to "upgrade" because my provider sucks enormousness balls. I could pay FULL PRICE and included in FULL PRICE is having to renew my 3 year contract (Canadian cell phone policy is prehistoric). I don't have many other alternatives. I could buy an unlocked iPhone and shop it to one of the other providers but I'd have to buy out my current contract so I'm not stuck with the bill. The best thing to do would be to buy out my contract and go to one of the others but they will not be offering the iPhone for a while. I'm stuck for at least another 6 months.
Bump. Just found this pretty comprehensive walkthrough of what's new in iOS 4. And by comprehensive I mean gigantic. There must be about 100 screenshots in there, plus at least one video.
I wish AT&T and or Apple would have had the foresight to make enough units available to avoid the pre-order shut down. Unless it's all a marketing ploy to amplify the hype.
Two problems: iPhone 4 demand was ten times that of 3GS preorder demand. That demand caused AT&T's servers to melt down. It's ridiculous, but at the same time, you can't really blame them for not expecting ten times the interest from last year.
10 times the amount of the 3gs? Keeripes. I guess that gives a good reason for the steady increase in their stock value since June 10th
Apple stock is overpriced... said the guy who wishes he had the foresight 10 years ago to take money he earned from birthdays, Christmases, and part time jobs and invest in the company back when its share price was in the single digits.
I hear you on that. I remember when IBM fell into the 20's and thinking they'll bounce back but not buying any of theirs. Such is hindsight.
iOS 4 is out. Plug in your iPhone or iPod Touch and hit update. Also, iBooks 1.1 is out for the iPhone. Connect to the iTunes Store via iTunes and search for it. Free app. Speaking of apps, individual apps will have to update in order to support multitasking. Expect those updates to roll out over the next couple of weeks. In the meantime, Engadget has a small list of multitasking/recommended apps. Just ignore the New York Times recommendation. iLounge has a review of iOS 4. If you have a current-gen iWhatever, they rate it a B+ and recommend updating. If you have a previous-gen iWhatever, they rate it a B and still recommend updating. iPhone 4 in three days.
Here's a nice blog about some of the subtler changes to iOS 4. This sort of attention to detail is why Apple made it big again.
Well, multi-tasking has been a jailbreak feature forever now. That and all the apps from the appstore become free lol
I have an iPhone 3G...I updated yesterday afternoon. The entire process from downloading to updating my phone took about 6+ hours. It wasn't until this morning when finally my google sync finished pushing over my contacts and calendar. Everyone who has a 3G has been freaking out about the inability for Google Sync to function properly/quickly at the point of installation. The device needs about 12hrs for the "kinks" to settle and for it to be a solid system. I don't have the multitasking and I don't have the backgrounds, but I wasn't really looking for those updates anyway. I wanted to see the improvements to the email client and to have a faster system. From playing with it for about 12hrs now, I'm satisfied with the updates, but I'm not blown away with the 3G version. Email threading is VERY NICE. Once you go in and manual change your email sync folders to their proper settings, you'll get a nice system. Its not Android's email client, but I wasn't expecting it to be. So be warned if you have the 3G, you'll get frustrated but give it time and the phone will eventually settle and you'll be fine. Don't try to downgrade. Be Patient. Overall the OS is tweaked but I'm assuming because of the hardware limitations on 3G, the 3GS version must be ****.
So I am guessing that since I missed the pre-order and I don't want to go stand in line at dawn at the local store I'll be waiting a few weeks or more for them to get stocked up on the iphone4. Bugger.
If you're having syncing issues with iTunes podcasts...turn off auto-sync (will delete all synced materials). Then re-sync. You'll be made whole after.
Speaking of iPhone 4 preorders, Apple bumped up the delivery date one day: the very first wave of devices will be delivered tomorrow on the 23rd, instead of Thursday the 24th. Probably an apology for the preorder meltdown fiasco.
Thats such BS. I have one reserved at the Apple store I'll be picking up Thursday morning, now people will have theirs a full day before me
Look at it this way: they can't activate them yet. Schadenfreude! Edit: I'm going to have to declare schadenfreude on the schadenfreude. My iPhone 4 preorder just shipped, arrives tomorrow.
