I was just reading everything about Jake Long not wanting to be here with the Fins, maybe because of Money or feels that we aren't going to get him to the Superbowl tomorrow... Then the attention for Miami Bill Parcell and company on Vernon Gohlston.. Not to bad of a pick I think. Let's go Deeper. It is said that VG would be a proable 6-9th pick in this years Draft... If we then choose him #1 for less Dollars does that then offset the market for Numbers 2-31? It would seem so.. I can't imagine any team paying for a 2-5 pick more than the Number ONE pick received. So all in all it looks like we should receive either a thank you or perhaps someone bails us out with a trade
I may not be fully understanding this and if I am not, I apologize but my question is this. I understand the whole mock drafts and where people think certain draft prospects will end up but that is just an opinion. If we take VG at the top spot, why would that effect the money he should receive? I think if a player is taken at the top overall spot, despite speculation of where he might land, he should be paid the top overall money.
Correct, But it is consensus that we Don't want to pay the top TOP dollar that would be a higher amount versus last year.
What he's saying is that we're going to get Gholston at a price significantly less than the amount paid to last years first overall, and the other teams will be able to use that to negotiate lower salaries for their players as well.
Ooo alright, makes sense now. Thanks for the clear up and sorry for the confusion guys, was just trying to figure it out.
Reads like smoke coming from his agent .. Don't forget that during the combine J Long said that he would love to be a Dolphin and play for B Parcells... This imo is posturing coming from T Condon, J Longs agent! Marino1983
Lol sorry bro, I just couldn't figure out what you were exactly trying to say. When I read it, I had a different out look on the comments but thanks to ECJ, your points have been explained to me. Thanks again ECJ.
Maybe, I just hope we make the right selection man. The money doesn't make plays on the field, the player does and I just pray its the right one.
