http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...een-teams-short-term-and-long-term-interests/ A good analysis from Florio on this situation, in the Jamal Brown Trade thread I was chatting with Alen about the thinking that has to go into the whole Fat Albert situation, and as Florio shows, there is much more to it than "he can play the 3 technique" (no offense meant to Alen). And notice, Florio tosses McNabb's time in Philly with TO, but never delves into whether or not Haynesworth can actually help the 2010 Redskins Defense? Which at the end of the day is "the" decision imho. BTW, Haynesworth is something of a hero for me, he shares my disdain for the 3-4..
The stuff Florio wrote has nothing to do with his actual play in the scheme, which I was arguing, it's all about how bad of a teammate he can be.
Which is sort of my point Alen, there is more that goes into a player move than talent, there is a sort of mix of factors that have to be worked out that are as important as highly paid talent. Imho that is a good illustration between a Scout and what a GM and Head Coach have to weigh.
I don't think you understand what I'm saying. I am aware of what goes into it, I just don't get why Haynesworth is *****ing so much when his responsibilities may not change much.
Honestly, imho Haynesworth is *****ing because he knows if he is released another team will give him another large payday.
I'll be very surprised if he gets more money than he's gettign right now. I'd say that he wouldn't get half of what he's getting now if he hit the market, unless Al Davis gets after him.
He wouldn't make more, he would make another large payday. He already has 21 million in his pocket, and that does not include his 2009 upfront bonus, if manages to be released, he can sign a 1 yr deal, reprove himself, then hit another large payday. Joey Porter showed how that works, and Porter isn't half the player Haynesworth is from a talent perspective. And let me add that the Redskins know this, that (also imho) is why they gave him 21 million in April, if they wind up cutting him this year there won't be any Cap Problems paying down his bonus in future years, Shanny and Allen were more or less protecting the Franchise's future no matter what happens with Fat Albert.
The guy is a beast when he acually plays if he were to give 100% every game he would easly be a HOFer IMO
If there's an idiot GM out there who would sign this guy to a lucrative deal after only one year and after this debacle, then he deserves to get fired IMO.
The NFLPA needs to step in and make him abide to his contract, IMO. Or pay back the money and hit the road.
There will be one, maybe a couple, big men who can move and produce are just hard to find, Fat Albert would fit in on several defenses, even the Vikings with one of the Williams Wall approaching their later 30's.
THIS x100. Like, WTF. Contract signed, and sealed. Get your *** to camp Fat Albert. I don't care if you are the ball-boy, if they are gonna pay their share of the deal, get your useless *** in there and honour yours, no matter the role.
Since I have no Idea how his contract reads I can only guess but surely there has to be some way the Redskins can get some of their money back and then cut him at the last possible moment to curtail any future problems, thus saving some of this years salery in that process.
