Is this Wade's team, or Lebron's team?

Who's team was it in the 08 Olympics? I'd tend to say both.

Didn't Wade come off the bench though? I always thought it was more Kobe/Melo/LeBrons team (in the Olympics). Wade, even though he was the leading scorer, was second fiddle. He just played out of his mind when he was in the game, as he was too fast for anyone to guard.

If anyone had those games on DVD, I would buy them right.

Yeah, Wade came off the bench, but he was in the finishing 5.

Personally I think everything about there having to be one dominant person and one sidekick is complete and utter nonsense.

I'd say that was Kobe's team. Kobe is by far the NBA's biggest international star. IMO Wade played the best, even better than Kobe, though. Lebron and Wade were somewhere behind Kobe in terms of whose team it was. Now between Lebron and Wade, I thought it was pretty close, arguably even despite Wade coming off the bench.

On the court, it certainly didnt look like Kobe was the leader.

I definitely agree with that. Of course there's always a chance it doesn't work out (SEE: Shaq's problems with just about everyone except Wade), but people are grasping at straws trying to say they'll be problems with the Big 3.

In the Olympics..Wade was the leading scorer...but if you remember, the on court leader throughout was LBJ.

In the Gold Medal game vs. Spain, it was Wade and Kobe that went nuts to ice that game.

I disagree. I thought that at the end of the games it looked a great deal like the Laker's games which is without a doubt Kobe's team.

Wade didn't have a problem taking a back seat to Shaq, and he stepped up when he had to. I doubt he will with LBJ.

LeBron is not the self-anointed anything.

Sports Illustrated anointed him the chosen one. When he was in HS.

It was ridiculous. I know I've seen you no the RealGM Boards. The Knicks/Bulls fans there are absolutely priceless.

I think Bryant Gumberl should ask Dan Marino what he would've done for a championship, or Barkley for that matter.

I hope it was worth it for Barkley to toil on horrible teams until he was 30, then be on a pretty good Suns team that nonetheless was no matc for the Bulls and then fade into obscurity except for his controversial remarks on tv. Long story short, Barkley may have tried to win on his own, and he failed miserably. Hope it was worth it.

Good for them. The Cleveland fans are being given a bad name by a few miscreants, angry message board posters and Dan Gilbert. Apparently LBJ has actually been in akron the last few days, out and about, with no problems. That's good to hear.

in the 08 olympics wade led the team in points, fg %, steals and minutes. i think he was second in offensive rebounds. (i would double check those stats, but i think they are accurate)

while lebron was on the court, he looked like a leader that allowed others to score. he rebounded, passed and blocked shots well in the up tempo offensive coach k ran.

while kobe was on the court, he was jacking up deep three pointers like it was the lakers. espn might have presented them as kobe's team, but i agree, that wasn't the case on the court.

dan marino? seriously? you think he should have left us to get a ring with some other team? actually i think its a good article. talk to any yankees fan old enough to seen him play and don mattingly is still the most beloved player since mickey mantle. never got a ring for them but his cheers drown out any other yankee when he's in the stadium

Definitely some weird reasoning he uses in that article. I don't see what Marino and Ted Williams being loved in their respective cities has to do with wanting to win a Championship.

Meh, if it's not one thing, it's another. We kill guys because all they care about is money, and now Gumble is killing a guy because all he seems to care about is happiness and winning. We just love to kill our sports figures in general. We prop them up, then we kill them. Just our nature I guess.

I wouldn't have wanted Marino to leave, but that's not the point. The question is what would have been more important to Dan? Staying here and playing on crappy teams but being beloved, or asking to be traded to a better team and winning a championship?

Gumbel simply states that Marino is happier having played here for 17 years on mostly crappy teams then leaving and winning a championship. I don't necessarily agree that Dan feels that way.

At the end of the day it's real simple. The national media is pounding LBJ because he had the gall to have an hour long tv special regarding his "Decision" (which any netowrk would have gladly aired, don't let the news outlets bashing ESPN fool you) and not choose NY or CHI.

Instead he went on tv and chose an inferior market in their eyes and since they can't make sense of it, they bash and hate. If LBJ chooses NY he's being hailed as a conquering hero right now and no one would give a hoot abut Cleveland's hurt feelings, outside of Cleveland.

That's when Marino broached the one thing missing from his resume.

"We didn't win a Super Bowl together and that is something I will always regret, not knowing what that feels like," Marino said.

It's regret that isn't boundless, apparently, because as induction day drew close, Marino said: "I would not trade a Super Bowl ring for 17 years of playing for the Dolphins and the success I had there. To trade it for one or two years and say that I won a Super Bowl, there's no way that I would do that."

This could be the final step in the end of "franchise" type players. With Free Agency it is becoming more and more rare that a player stays with his team for his entire career. As mentioned in the thread about the MLB All-Star game - the NBA is all about players and not teams. Kobe has stayed with the Lakers his entire career - but Garnett, Iverson, LeBron, Shaq and a lot of other big names have switched teams.

It seems like the days of thinking of Celtics and seeing Bird or the Bulls and seeing Jordan are going to disappear as players move around more often.

Ok, good for Danny. Although I don't know what else you're supposed to say at a HOF induction ceremony.

But the fact remains, if Danny had won even a single Super Bowl, he'd be considered the best of all time, nearly unanimously. Now, he's behind Montana, Elway, even ridiculous Favre on some lists. why? the lack of a title.

Him leaving the 'Fins and going on to win a SB elsewhere wouldn't have damaged his national reputation. It would have enhanced it. We might have been pissed, but at the end of his career, no one else would've cared.

LBJ is the same way. Once he wins a few championships. In 15 years when he's going into the HOF, no one except Cleveland fans will remember or care or about "The Decision"

So you think Marino was a fool for staying here because some clowns have him behind Elway and Favre? You think the ring is the most important legacy? Not what you do with what you're given, not how you carry yourself?

I don't think Marino was a fool. I don't think he ever really had a choice to go elsewhere or not, but he stayed and if he's happy with that, then cool. I'm happy too b/c I loved watching him play all those years. But I also wouldn't have begrudged him the opportunity to go elsewhere if he wanted to win a championship.

Same thing with LBJ. If simply staying in cleveland was enough for him, whether he ever won a title or not, then great. But it wasn't enough for him. He didn't want be like Marino, regretting never winning a ring. Could he have exited better? Sure he could've, but at the end of the day he didn't anything that was so terrible as to warrant the amount of downright hate he's endured over the last week.

And yes. The ring is the most important legacy. L.T. is a vile scumbag, but he is a champion and an all time great and that's how he is viewed.
