Hey guys, So the other day my phone was left on the counter next to a cup, and since I live in Texas that cup perspired all over my phone, leaving it in a puddle of water, which leads to my first question: Is there a way to get the photos off the phone without it being able to power up? Second question: After going to the AT&T store and leaving angry since they try to rape you with either a text plan or a data plan if you want to upgrade, is there a way to use an old blackberry without a data plan (I want a full QWERTY)? A buddy says if you try to use one they automatically put you on a data plan as soon as it turns on.... Basically I can get an old blackberry for free, but I don't want to pay a data plan. thanks for the help!
did you try saving the phone? i dropped mine in a pool, dried it off and put in a cup full of rice for a day and it works just fine now as for the other stuff, i know a lot of carriers wont activate particular phones without a data plan there are other phones that have full keyboards
AT&T does have non smartphones that have QWERTY keyboards. Or were you looking specifically for a PDA? As far as I know, if you're looking to text and use the internet on your phone, you need a plan. I don't know if you could do either one of those things w/o being in a plan. I have the Unlimited Data plan for both internet and text myself.
really I just want something with a QWERTY. Right now I pay $5 for 200 texts per month and I never go over that. I don't want to pay $20 for unlimited texts and sign a new contract just because I need a new phone.
Or those beans/crystals you find in those humidity packets in new shoes/luggage. They are useful if you save enough of them.
I've been through it twice. I had a Palm Treo went right in the Pissssar, rice fixed it. My Crackberry had coffee spilled on it. After the rice, I had to clean off the terminals that mate to the battery, but I am typing on it right now. BTW: Worse than that with the crckberry is when the stooooopid rollerball goes bad, but I found replacements online for about 5 bux, so even that's not a big deal anymore. Let me know how it works out. Remember, put it in a ziplock with white rice for about a day or two. The rice will draw all the moisture.
You got this right. I see it all day at work since I work for VZW. It worked for me when i dropped my phone in a bucket of beer a few years back but thats another story Once its powered back up, and you will need it powered up to get the pics and probably contacts too unless you have some kind of backup program installed, then use a memory disk to get the pictures out. You'll need a micro SD chip if your phone has a slot for it or a USB to transfer the data to your computer.
