http://miamiherald.typepad.com/dolphins_in_depth/ Misi and Wake at OLB Interesting that Tristan Davis is ahead of Nolan Carroll for Kick Returner
Incognito starting LG huh? Berger over grove at Center? Interesting battles along the OL. Also Clemons penciled in as the starter is a little scary, heres to hoping he has improved significantly...
Roberto Wallace and Marlon Moore are ahead of Patrick Turner in the race for the 5th WR. I believe that. The guard situation.....I don't put much stock in that, other than Jerry being your current starter at RG. I still think Nate Garner is the incumbent at LG, even if he's only taken a handful of snaps there. They desperately want somebody else a little more powerful to seize that job and keep Garner sharp as the roving sixth man. But it doesn't look like anybody else can protect the QB. Chad Pennington's place proves this isn't set in stone. David Martin is your #2 TE once he gets into shape. And Nolan Carroll is third team CB at worst. He, Nate Ness and Jason Allen are fighting for two jobs IMO. As for Clemons, I don't think we've heard one bad word -- much less anything -- about him all of camp. That's not a bad thing.
I think some of Wallace and Moore being ahead of Turner has to do with missing Spring Practices and OTA's. Though I suspect he has to continue to show why he deserves a roster slot. As for LG...and RG...here we go again...
WR 19 Brandon Marshall 15 Davone Bess 18 Roberto Wallace 11 Julius Pruitt 17 Ryan Grice-Mullen Read more: http://miamiherald.typepad.com/dolphins_in_depth/#ixzz0w9cOkiVd UMMMMMMM?!?!? Hartline? Camarillo? Or am I just reading it wrong
Thought Nolan Carroll was 3rd string? Also figured David Martin would be higher than dead last at TE. Maybe time will change that.
I am not sure any of us can put much stock into a depth chart from these guys, especially seeing not one game has been played yet.....
wait, Tyrone Culver is a SS? It's just Clemons and Jones over at FS. I would have guessed Jones would be backing up Bell and Clemons & Culver would be a camp battle for the start at FS
Maybe, Penny's arm is not recovering as quickly as it should FY, keep in mind they had a day off on Sunday and his arm is still kinda dead.
I wouldn't read too much into Culver's placement on the depth charts. Only reason being is they use him at both free safety and strong safety so if Clemons was to be replaced, Culver would be called up IMO.
Isnt that par for the course Pads, you hear alot about dead arm from QB's in the first couple of weeks into TC no, with all the reps they get?? They were saying he snapped off a ball in the beginning of this thing, that proved to himself he was 100%....
All kiddiing aside, I don't know, 3 major shoulder operations it is hard to say one way or another, for example the muscles could be slightly choked from oxygen due to scar tissue buildup or his arm could come back fine by next week. Either way though, it makes sense to have Thiggy and Penny take snaps in the preseason as Penny is still a "?".
I'm starting to believe that Pennington might be a candidate for retirement before the end of training camp.
Yep. Pretty much. I think the only reason David Martin is listed 5th TE is because he was just recently signed and hasn't earned anything over Haynos, Nalbone, and Sperry yet, but.... he will. Interesting to see Wallace & Moore ahead of Turner. It's nice to see that these guys actually have to earn their spots on the team, regardless of how high of a draft selection you were. The only thing I don't get is why Nolan Carroll is so low.
+3 Fin-Omenal Not so much worried about Cobbs A.K.A Brock Marion as Iam about fumbling bumbling Bess.
Agree totally Muck. I believe Garner will be the starting LG. They already know that he can start there and are saving snaps. Coach gave him big praise last season and I've said all along he is Tony's guy. We've heard him say before they couldn't keep Nate off the field last season. I would say that hasn't changed.
He was a decent kickoff returner at Ohio State. Can't say I remember him doing any punt returning. He might have been the second guy back there with Ginn, as Ohio State usually had two guys deep (mostly Ginn and Holmes early on).
I like the potential this group has. Starters are fairly young, and skilled. Love to see them grow together and be the rock solid unit we need them to be. The depth may be of concern though.
I agree. I still think it'd look a lot better if Edds were behind Dansby instead of Folsom. I know injuries happen, but he seemed to be the piece the FO was trying to make into the Wesley Woodyard role in Nolan's D.
I'd say it's a combination of seniority, decent play and not tipping their hand too much. I wouldn't doubt that they're talking J. Allen up partially in the hopes of getting all they can for him if/when the time comes to let him go. That said, this is all conjecture. I've seen exactly one practice this year.
I think Nolan Carroll will be a future starter he must need some fine tuning. We have been hearing way to much positive stuff on him to think he won't be stepping on up. There is still four weeks of preseasoning to spice it up.
I think Crowder's charisma is starting to give people false hope again about his play...I hope he proves me wrong but I see him as a liability.
Agreed. When I remember Crowder's 2009 season his war of words with Rex and his comments about the Saints is what stands out above anything else. He did seal the Pats game with his first ever INT (which I had no idea he'd never had one before I just assumed he did) off of Brady.
Hes much better as a second linebacker than the "go to" guy so to speak. That was his role in earlier seasons and he turned in solid performances. Is he gonna be an all-star? No, but not many teams have 2 top linebackers. He is more than adequate to pair with Dansby and be solid.
At this point I am not sure what we could get for him, but there are teams that are very much hurting in the secondary, teams that may be desperate enough to give something up. Ravens, Niners, Falcons off the top of my head.
