A blow to the Bills pass defense, the only thing they do right.

Week 1 is not only a should-win, it's a must-win. What would it say about this team if they lose to what looks like the second worst team in the AFC?

Woulda, coulda, and shoulda don't win games and for all the Health problems the Bills seem to be having that point can be countered by our lack of a set O-Line into our third year under the Tuna!

The Vagas odds setters don't play the game! Yet I will be most upset if we lose to a depleted Bills unit that has no leadership, field wise, said with respect WC.

For me, Fitzpatrick makes more sense for you guys as the Team believes in him more than they do Edwards, granted he will never be a pretty Qb to watch, but the book on Edwards seems to be written.

Fred Jackson was such a beast last yr for the Bills, people do not realize how good "Action Jackson" was, if he is out, or splitting touches the Bills won't be as good of a team imho.

Are injuries ever expected to linger? Hamstring pulls are considered minor, but they linger for entire seasons in a few random players.

hey...the 30 minutes from the Superbowl JESTS also lost to the bills. we lost to the bills, but we also wiped the floor with them. the difference for us was having a healthy team, vs a team without our starting NT, RB, QB, CB...and i'm not sure who else, but a few others.

The Bills, with a new coach, new regime, and a slew of players missing the first game...in the nice tame early sept weather...we should mop them up. this is the 3rd year of our system, we have a lot less health issues, and we have the more talented team. i'm not saying that to be obnoxious, but throw in schobel retiring...and its not even close. we just have way better, and more stable players and coaches. there's no reason for us to lose the game, other than the football gods frowning upon us.

I believe there is a saying along the lines of "don't count your chickens before they hatch."

Sure our signings appear to be very good, but what if those guys get injured or bust here? Regardless of the (un)likelihood there's no reason to parade around those paper tigers over someone's head. Let it play out first, then talk your ****.

I'm not talking my sh**. Currently, our roster is far superior to their roster. It isn't even close. Sure, we can lose someone the next pre season game. But, until that happens, I am judging both teams based on their current roster, and right now, the Bills don't have a chance.

    1 Game, eh?

Funny, I seem to remember that WE beat you once last season. Must suck to know your looking up at us because of that loss.

After dominating you in the first meeting from start to finish, to go up there and lead 14-7 in the fourth then suddenly forget to play sound football and get dominated in one quarter sucks for us to take a loss after leading your team for 7 quarters (going back to the first game), holding your team to 17 pts. in that span (one TD comming with the game out of reach) and then allow 24 in one quarter? No excuses. We messed up, your team capitalized as it should and you won as an NFL team must in that situation. Period.

It's good to sound confident, it being a new season and all, but remember that last season the series was split.

Your only talking about the one you won.

Forget about last season though. I like looking forward. I really wish we could swap the Pats for the Bills and have the rivalry we had back in the day for the #1 spot in the division.

Game 1 will be fun to watch.

And how much better was our roster than the Texans in 2002? How much better was the Ravens than our team in our lone win from 2007? How much better was the Patriots roster that monday night when we beat them with Feeley?

I'm sure the examples can go on and on, not just for our team, but for everyone.

Just because you have a more talented roster does not guarantee a win in the NFL. Any given sunday a particular team can come out on top. I for one will not be counting victories before they happen or claiming team "x" doesn't have a chance.

I could care less about you or your forgiveness. If I came across as obnoxious, then good. Its not a matter of acceptance. You beat us 31-14 last year. Fact. We also pounded you 38-10. Its all history.

What I cant accept is the notion of a week 1 loss to a far inferior team. Inferior on every possible level, including ownership...with the shame of ditching the "city" of Buffalo for our neighbors to the north.

If Miami loses to the Bills week 1, then we are simply not a good football team, and will not compete for a deep playoff run.

ps. the drop off of talent between ryan fitz from edwards really isn't that tremendous.

FWIW, I agree with this. I also think it's important and more sportsmanlike to show a little respect for our fellow members that are fans of other teams. Well, except for the Jests and Patsies. They can suck it. LOL...J/K (not really).

In all seriousness, I believe the Bills game will be no gimmie game. It's a divisional foe, and one that has historically given us tough games in the past. So, I expect nothing less come 9/12. BUT...I also expect to win. And, not just because I'm a Phins fan. But, because I do believe we have the better team. But, we shall see. That's why they play the game, right?

    Go Phins! :marble:

Dude, your team is in a pathetic state with no end in sight. There is no guarantee's in Football, but there is NO way we should lose to the Bills.

If we win, its to be expected with no reason to gloat. If you win, it's gonna be by some weird disasterous fluke. Our team is much better than your's anyway you look at it.

Spiller will not carry your team any higher than 4th place in this division.

And I'm sure there are countless examples of a team beating a team they should beat. I'm not guaranteeing a victory here. Just saying we should feel more confident heading into the game than any bills fan based on our rosters.

Depends somewhat on how you look at it. This was'nt the argument I was trying to make. But I can point out a few reasons from a game 1 standpoint:

    #1 Marshall

    #2 Brown returns

    #3 Dansby

    #4 Nolan

Even moreso than us upgrading is the fact the Bills have regressed for our matchup for game 1.

#1 Losses of T.O, Schobel, Byrd, Jackson is of EPIC PROPORTION.

#2 Pretty much an entire new headcoach/staff.

#3 And worst of all.....They still have Trent Edwards.

WC, compare the two teams rosters. We are the superior team. Can you beat us? Hell yes. Any team can beat any team on any given Sunday. But odds are, the Dolphins are going to beat the Bills.

You say the Dolphins were a 7 win team last season, and split the series between the Bills, but you're not taking the moves both teams made during the off season into account. We upgraded from Ginn to Marshall, Akin to Dansby, and Paul Pasqualoni to Mike Nolan. Then you have possible upgrades in Odrick over Merling and Jerry over Thomas. On top of the moves we made, Henne, Davis and Smith should be better, and Ronnie Brown will play against you guys and the rest of the 15 games( hopefully).

As for the love for Sanchez and Henne, it's simple. Their franchise Quaterbacks.

1st of all I dont have to claim my team is great (never did) in order to beat the lowly Bills.

I didnt mention your teams upgrades because....what have you done? Like I said before. Your team has REGRESSED! Im sorry but CJ Spiller is no Chris Johnson. Even if he were your team still wouldnt be as good as the Titans lol.

Your O line is still in shambles, you have no #2 receiver, you have no QB, you lost Schobel and have noone to replace him.

The staff over there is switching a 4-3 roster into a 3-4 when you have no linebackers.

Byrd is out indefinitely, Jackson is out, T.O is gone, and Lynch is dieing to leave. The list goes on....

I guarantee our Offense AND Defense will be light years better than the Bills. Henne is going to be a real nice Qb for us. Edwards plain and simple sucks, Fitzpatrick? lol...

Cmon dude seriously. I never guarantee a win because every dog has its day. If we lose it will be an embarassment and i'll go into a deep depression. And yea, week 1 we may come out sloppy being so young, but thats the only hope you got.

Stop with the 2 wins in a row stuff. The Bills suck.....period. Please feel free to argue my points.

Some of you are starting to sound like Jets fans with all these "guarantees" of victory.

    Any given Sunday
It the Bills in Buffalo, never an easy win
We won one more game than they did last year
We split with them last year
They have a new coach who might be able to get more offense out of them
    secondary is still strong
Dan Henning might outsmart himself again
We have been less than stellar on opening day since 2006

    Should we win? Yes.
    Is it guaranteed? Never.

On paper, we should wallop them, but it's NEVER easy in Buffalo!! I've been there nine times, with the first in 1987. I've seen them win a total of ZERO times!!

And - yes - I'm going back for a 10th this year. My brother-and-sis-in-law are Bills season tix holders and they've been taking us every year since '07 (but not the Toronto game, which we won, of course).

This is it for me. If they don't win this time, with this team against what should be a bad, young Bills team, then I'll know something's curses. Strange things seem to happen when I go - like Ricky Williams throwing a pass, awakening an otherwise dead Bills crowd last year. I swear, if he punches it in on the ground, we win that game. From that moment, it was like someone turned on the power in the stadium, and it was an uphill battle the rest of the way, and we all know how it turned out.

This year has to be different! We are better, and we have a good, young QB who is looking to take huge strides from last year. We have Marshall, we have a healthy Ronnie to go w/ Ricky. We have a grinding o-line. We have a solid if not spectacular defense (well, we should anyways). The Bills have some talent - Spiller could be OROY - but they are awful on both lines, and their QB has bricks for brains, so to speak.

Lord help us if we don't win this one!! But it's Buffalo, so you never know. At least it's in September!!!!

I just got done rewatching the Bills "victory" over the Dolphins. First of all the Dolphins dominated on the ground and in the air until...... go figure a Dolphins meltdown. Oh, and a few flukes just like I had mentioned.

Points in the game that burn me up....

#1 Dan Hennings call for Ricky to throw out of the Wildcat on the 5 yard line. Gave the Bills life they should have never had. We recover, but it haunted the Fins.

#2 Phantom hold called on Gardner taking us out of scoring range after completing a 4th and 1. Would have put us up by at least 10 points early (not counting 3-7 lost points from our own Mr. Henning's horrific call). Another 3-7 points taken away, this time by the refs.

#3 Fitzpatricks 31 yard TD scramble on a broken play.....PLEASE!

#4 The one that really pisses me off is the hold they dont call! Fitz to TO for a long TD late in the game that seals it. HUGE, PLAIN TO SEE holding call completely "missed" by the refs. There is no way they didnt see it! Takes all the wind out of us.

Henne has another tipped pass intercepted and all a sudden the Bills look like SB contender and pile on another TD. End Score does not represent the game well at all. So keep dreaming Bills fans!

Watch the game again. The Bills looked like a HS football team WITH Jackson and TO. Imagine them w/o them, and more. Yet they beat us...

I was at that game too, and I tried to explain it to those on this board that weren't there. They just didn't realize how bad that play was and what it did to wake that lifeless crowd out of their slumber. Ricky runs that ball in, and it would have been an easy TD, we win that game. No doubt in my mind. That boneheaded play energized the crowd and the crowd energized the team. I still wish Henning was fired over that play.
