They have a bunch of young WR's, he will be the 3 at best. Sapp if we got him was competing for a starting job, Cam would have had trouble getting on the field for us. If this is indeed the trade, I like it.
I dont know... I guess we were THAT desperate for a nickle CB. They problably believe that Allen is still a long ways away and that Carroll is still too raw to man that position effectively come the regular season. I think this has more to do with them falling in love for Moore and Wallace. This way they keep both and add some CB depth. EDIT: This might not be so bad considering I have nightmares about Jerry Wilson manning the nickle still so hopefully this will help us avoid that.
yean me too, physical guy, throws the body around...had closr to 50 tackles as a nikcle/st guy...not bad...I think he will be thrusted into a bigger role here in Miami
agreed the only reason I dont is because it is Cam....and I love Cam...but for the betterment of the team I like it...Secondary is scaring me besides Vontae....bringing a guy who is a vet, and has playoff experience cant hurt...and Cam wasnt seeing the field much this year.... so does Pat White get to slide in the WR spot now....? hahhaah
I agree. I'd much rather listen to an 18 year old's opinion on whether this trade should've happened or not
Well...would it be possible to keep 6 corners? Davis, Smith, Sapp, J.Allen, W.Allen, Carrol? with Sapp, Allen, and Carrol contributing on ST? could be a good move..cammy didn't play special teams and was most likely going to be no.4
Like others have already said, Camarillo will always have a special place in my heart. Always came up with the big play when we needed it. Good luck in Minnesota Greg.
I dont see how you dont .... UNLESS there's more here than meets the eye and I bet that if Sapp comes in and does well with whats left of the pre-season we'll see W. Allen get stashed on IR ...just a hunch.
No stoopid. It was for Brett Favre. We are cutting Pennington once Favre gets here and rumor has it that Pennington is ging to the Jets...
Camarillo was Mr. Clutch. You could always count on him catching the ball on 3rd and 4th down...I'm gonna miss him
love the trade, i always notice this guy when i watched the vikes. I think our fo just wanted to sure up a shaky position. Hopefully W.Allen is okay. CB-W.Allen/J.Allen/N.Ness CB-V.Davis/B.Sapp/N.Carroll FS-S.Smith/Clemons SS-Y.Bell/R.Jones Best line up we have!
I hope Greg blows it up in Minny, just not on Week 2. That said, Benny Sapp is a good player. Not quite Pro Bowl level but he's solid. Shouldn't stand out either positively or negatively. Won't get burned a ton but won't make lot of INTs either. Perfect as a nickel guy.
Sapp is pushin 30 years old...Irish needs to hit on this one, which hasn't been his strength thus far.. I know exectlt what Sparano is gonna say....he was a player that epitomizes everything we look for, we just have some youngs with celing that we feel we needed to give them their chances to find out.. Which is fine, I get it..Sapp better play out ya know.

Vontae Davis makes sense at FS..but no one will acknowledge it.. Sapp maybe in the FS mix? A bit late in the game for that though.
I hope come December we dont hear about how bad of a trade this was with Sapp not doing much of anything and Cam going crazy up there with like 50 catches and 7 TDs (with Favre). Great for Cam but for us it would make the trade look really, really bad.
ya, the dude has 2 preseaosn games to learn mike nolans defense....he better have a playbook with him at all times, including on the flight right now to miami!
he might be worth a look in fantasy as a ppr guy hahahahah with Favre, and the uncertainity of their WR corp....
Disappointing to see Camarillo go, high quality guy who will always have his place in Dolphin history. Whichever other receiver(s) make the team better not blow it. Sapp better contribute and not be a bum.
Camarillo's role on this team would not have been a big one. I hope he has a good year like many of you (cept week 2). Dont overestimate his value though. We need the CB depth apparently.
He will always be welcome in Miami. He prevented us from being 0-16, so for that he's always a Dolphin. Still remember that season, that was ****ing rough man, ****ing really, really rough.
Exactly, in fact we will probably run many two Te sets so the #4 and #5 Wr really will not be asked to do very much if they do not play on ST. Hmm, would it then make sense to keep 5 Wr's? Unless one was also a kick returner or ST daemon?
Thing is guys, Cam was/is great....sheet he saved us from an 0-16 season, however as a number 4, what was he going to make 20-40 catches if that...I loved his professionalism, character, work ethic, and he was truly everything this FO wants in a player, but to trade him for a guy who could come in, stick guys in ST, play a solid nickle..ie...not get burnt for TD's....I will say it is a win for Miami....the secondary needs more help and depth than the WR corp does.... as well when you have two guys who could play the number 4, one guy is Cam, and the other is either Turner, or Wallace....I would always like to see the younger guy get the crack at it...we know what we have with Cam...having Marshall and Turner/Wallace in the redzone is pretty cool....
I hate ot see Cam go, he's a very consistent player and one of the standouts from the past two years. Hopefully he meshes well with Brett and they make something happen up north.
he cant cover wideouts either. But i do think he has shown to be better at tackling this off-season and I dont see that much difference between Smith and Clemons in that department
I think its a no brainer myself, Cam wasn't touching the field much for us, Sapp will play a bunch. It's a good trade and we get to keep two young WR's that show promise. Cam isn't a spring chicken either.
I really hope Turner doesnt make this team from draft status alone. At least i've actually witnessed Moore catching balls and flying upfield. Turners' legs look like a newborn baby lambs' when he tries to run, cut, anything! He looks soft basicly. Even with Wallace we have a potential upgrade over Turner. Turner has had a whole year to improve, but hasnt cracked our top 3. Now if they see MAJOR improvements from him fine, but lets see him this year! Sorry I was offtopic a bit.
Our 4th WR caught 31 balls last year. Factor in Marshall getting more targets and a realistic catch total for Cammy was probably in the 15-20 range. This may mean they like the 2 undrafted kids they got (no it doesn't mean Turner sticks automatically).
Exactly, then wouldn't it then make sense that a Kick Returner or ST player has to come out of those last 2 Wr slots?
Bummer. Greg seemed like a good guy. Also was a good WR for us, he seemed to be Mr. Reliable out there for us. Also, he's always going to be known for "the catch". Dolphins fans will love him forever for that, and rightfully so. His role was probably going to be greatly reduced this year. It makes sense to move him. I think it means Turner is going to stick to the final roster, along with Moore or Wallace. Whoever doesnt make it, ends up on the PS I believe. As for Sapp, I dont know much about the guy. It makes you wonder what the deal with Will Allen is though. Is he maybe not going to be back in time? Or is it simply that we aren't confident enough in Nollan Carrol just yet. Maybe Sapp is an insurance policy since it seems we may be using Carrol on KR duties thus giving him the higher potential for injury, so having someone else there (sapp) isn't a bad idea. I wish we could have gotten a FS though. I'm still nervous as heck about that position.
