Wow, I did not know that man, thanks for the info, it's much appreciated. I was always told as a kid that water was drained out into the prairie to create it over 40 years ago. My bad.:knucks:

I passed it every day but never bothered to look up the full history.I knew it was filled with water but I thought it was a sinkhole that drained it.I have seen plenty of sinkholes in that area.

Rough start for Gators. The players must have put vaseline in their hands before the game. And the low snaps are unbelievable
And the trick play on 4th down and short .What was that ?

    Defense looks awesome however.

Handled? UF is beating themselves, Pouncey cant snap the ball, its laughably ridiculous.

Have fun losing to UM next week.

I think this performance is a reflection of Meyer letting his assistant coaches run the team .He has to be more involved .It looks like the Gators have not practiced at all.

The snaps are inexcusable.Change the centers if Pouncey cant get it done.Robey can do a better job.

Florida looked about as bad as they could have and still won by 20 which is somewhat impressive. Miami OH did have a ton of guys return but I still know they are Miami of Ohio. I wonder if they will keep Pouncey at Center or move him to RG. The offensive line as a whole looked like garbage. I am very interested to see how this team does next week v.s. USF. I really hope Jordan Reed and either Patchan or Nixon can go.

100 times better than what we have IMO-

They were 1-11 last season a 20 point win for Florida isnt impressive no matter how they played. That said I think they are going to be just fine.

I said it was impressive because of how bad Florida played and it was. I watched the entire game in amazement of how bad Florida was. Just becuase a team was 1-11 one season does not mean they cant get better. That team had a ton of guys come back and didnt play like a 1-11 team.

Miami Ohio had 9 penalties, dropped 6 passes, whiffed on several blitz pick ups, missed tackles like Gator players had mange or leprosy, had meatheads playing zone, 2 deep and man all on the same play, threw 4 interceptions including a pick 6, rushed for 22 yards,.....how exactly did they "get better" this year?

Your right, this is not that big of deal to me, they look much improved......your right they may even be twice as good as last year...they will probably win 2 games this year....3 if they play Ohio School for the deaf and remove the bell from the ball and somehow manage to score against Open Date..

I think it's a loyalty experiment(Center NFL Draft = more $) ) on behalf of coach Meyer to senior Mike Pouncey, gone terribly wrong.

It's time to stick him back at guard where would be one of the best in the nation.

Ah that explains it. Do the Gators have a center? Was Pouncey their center for spring? I can't imagine this was a daily occurrence at practice.

As far as I know Pouncey was at center during the fall practices leading up to Saturday. Sam Robey an RSF, was there in the spring I think. He sustained some injuries and has been on the mend.

John Brantley, was asked if there were any problems with snaps before Saturday and he replied no. All practices have been closed to the public, so who knows?

Yeah I cant imagine Pouncey would have stayed at center had he been screwing up the snaps all summer.

That said, it's time for the offense to open up a bit down field. The bubble screens and shovel passes every other play need to go.

Ok so I endured the three miserable hours in the sun on Saturday, and here are my thoughts.

    Offense:

The center-qb exchange. Pouncey has been the starting center since his brother entered the draft and there have been no real issues. I chalk this one up to nerves. I listened to a post-game interview with Pouncey and he said he wasn't sure what was going on, but the ball kept slipping from his hands.

Offensive line was in shambles on Saturday. Not only were Xavier Nixon and Mat Patchan hurt and not available, but Carl Johnson was suspended also. It was quite obvious that we were missing several starters, because the line (aside from the snaps) was awful. They weren't able to block for the run game effectively. As we have all seen with the Dolphins, when the o-line isn't stable then it tends to struggle mightily.

Playcalling was absolutely horrendous and vanilla. It makes me wonder if we were vanilla on purpose. Think about it, the first quarter consisted of runs and dump offs to the Wr's. It looked like we had fired Addazzio and handed the offense play calling off to Wandstedt. Seriously it was run, run, pass on third and long and then punt. EXCEPT: we didn't punt. I think we punted once the entire game and went for it on almost every 4th and short. I have a feeling this was because they need to find a replacement for Tebow. Last 3 years that was Tebow's calling, but obviously we need to fin another way to convert those.

Historically Meyer's game plan consists of running the football, winning the turnover battle and wining the field position battle. We did none of that. Also I think once we saw the issues with the snaps we just packed it in to be safe. As someone else noted there were almost no down field throws.

    Quick notes:

Hines is going to be a beast. Coaches are saying he is the freak of all freaks to ever be at UF. I've heard rumors that he read a 4.3 in the summer. If that's true, watch out.

Deonte Thompson has dropped yet another deep pass in an opener. Just like last year Thompson was wide open in the end zone and lets a perfectly placed ball go right through his fingers. And that pass was perfect.

I like Jeff Demps I really do, but I think he needs to work on his elusiveness. We all know he's fast, but if he can add some shiftiness to his game I think he can be the next Chris Johnson.

I like the idea of the I-form, but we need to expand the playbook out of it. If we just run every time, then opposing offense will key in out that. We need to pass and especially use the play action.

And poor ole Emmanuel Moody can't catch a break. On the fumble exchange between Brantley and Moody, John was a little late getting the ball into the basket and Moody puts it on the ground. I don't believe he got back into the game after that. Pouncey, is shooting worm burners at John all game and didn't get relieved???

I think they want Pouncey in there because they want him to block after the snap and he is better than Robey at doing that.

I think he was overanxious to get to his blocking duties before making the snap. The adrenaline atmosphere in a real game put him in fast forward so to speak.

You could see him rising before the snap.

I watched it in slow motion, it was a great play by the defender. He got his hand up and pulled on Deonte's arm. PI? Maybe technically, but it never gets called in that situation.

Back to why I came in here today, anyone know if this game will be on TV in S.FL? All I keep finding is SEC network or ESPN3.com. The few channels that I think may have it all say teams TBA. Anyone help?
