I know I am 2 games ahead with this discussion, but there is no way Revis can cover Marshall 1 on 1. Marshall is just too big and physical to be covered by Revis.

I can't wait to see Revis on his @$$ and or getting run over by Marshall.

You realize that Marshall has already played against Revis in 2008, right? 5 catches, 55 yards.

I don't expect a wildly different statistical line even with Revis now getting schematic safety help, mainly because Revis and Friend covering Marshall means Bess, Hartline, and Fasano are open. Let Revis and Friend take away Marshall; we'll still outperform the Jets in the passing game.

That would obviously be great if they double up on Marshall consistently that just means everyone else will be single covered. I understand that.

I guess I am just tired of all this Revis talk. Ya he is a great corner, but I think their pass rush makes Revis and the rest of their secondary look a lot better. I guess what I was saying in the OP was that Marshall can't really be covered by any 1 person. Especially when he has 4-5 inches and 30lbs on them.

Well if they don't double him, shame on them! The Beast shall be unleashed!

The point I'm trying to get across is that being covered by Revis is by default a double team, because he gets safety help as a matter of the Jets' defensive scheme. Whenever someone says "Revis," they refer to one specific cornerback, but they really should be referring to a combination of a cornerback and safety.

Worrying about how Marshall matches up against Revis is pointless. Worrying about how Marshall matches up against Revis and whichever safety is shading to Revis' side is what you need to think about.

Marshall isn't that kind of WR. If we had traded for DeSean Jackson, you could expect that.

It's a misnomer that Revis covers everyone one on one, he gets help over the top often.

But he is still the best CB playing right now.

This battle will be epic and the most interesting one of both games with the Jests. It will tell us a lot about Marshall AND about Henne IMO.

Maybe true but I think if he could make Revis move one way and go another he may be able to get some separation from him.

Nnamdi is better Man to Man in my opinion. Not to mention he has a weaker supporting cast.

Sure Revis will shutdown Marshall, because he will get away with pass interference just like he does on every other wide receiver.

Sure as far as bomb and out running revis...but who among us wouldnt pay for a simple catch, and strong body shake to break off the tackle, leaving Revis laying on the ground thinking...what just happened!:hi5:

Revis v Marshall is an afterthought. If we can run effectively and force them to crowd the LOS, we'll be able to get Marshall the ball. If not, he'll struggle. If we can stay out of 3rd and long, we'll move the ball, if not, not even Marshall can save us. Pretty simple actually.

Seen a Jets fan today on another board post the stats of a bunch of elite WR's vs Revis that were obviously well below their norm. So i asked if he could post Ginn's stats vs Revis as well.

Of course, that Jets fan didn't come back to post those. :pointlol:

There are 31 other teams that would love to have him. He is one of the best.

Revis always has a magnet on his ***. Last year it pulled in Kerry Rhodes's face mask. This year it's Brodney Poole.

revis is a great player. But you get Marshall a quick pass and its Revis Vs. Marshall and Marshall can get past him. Marshall can get past anyone. He's the slipperiest and toughest wr i've ever seen. i Just hope his unrelenting desire to gain YAC doesn't end up hurting him.

he hasn't missed a whole lot of time yet because of that. Im more so worried about hits from behind and the bigger stuff like acl/mcl issues. those tend to happen when your constantly cutting and working for more yards.

he's one of the only wrs in the nfl who usually gets hit by 2 or more guys on every reception.

Sorry, this is just delusional. See Andre Johnson last year.

He will be single covered -- and shut down.

I don't get the Revis hype. yeah he's pretty good. yeah elite WRs didn't do much against him. but their coach was crying on TV two games before the playoffs, which everyone and they mama knows happened only because two teams went vive la france on them and dropped their rifles

Revis is rarely in single coverage.

I'd love to see it, but it won't happen. The Jets shade a safety to Revis' side of the field, so while Marshall is great at making the first man miss, he'll have to make the two guys who form the amalgamated entity mythologically known as Revis Island miss.

Blame the New York media's penchant for exaggeration coupled with the nearby ESPN's amplification thereof.

Well, have to say that this is a much sexier matchup than Revis on Camarillo.

I suspect we motion Marshall to manipulate the Jest defense into looks that are to our advantage so he may have a quiet game, but as long as we win what does that matter?

there is no way revis single covered him all game long. Or even for 50% of it for that matter.

Andre Johnson wasn't shut down, Matt Schaub was. Houston had no answer for the blitz packages, Schaub started staring down the rush, Johnson had no time to get down field and became an ineffective weapon. Kudos to the Jets D and their game plan. But dont sit up here and claim that Revis was in Johnson's hip pocket with no safety help just denying him the ball all day. That'd be delusional.

Lol sorry bro but Marshall is too big and strong for Revis. Marshall can and will put revis on his ***.

Hey what happened with ginn by the way? Doubled him and still couldn't stop him.

Revis is a great CB, IMO he's either the best or second best to Nnamdi, but it's a myth that he's on an island. Jets fans like to point to a Football Outsider's report, but they broke it down on NFL Match-up. They showed video after video of Revis and the help he had.
