http://www.coldhardfootballfacts.com/Article.php?Page=3315 I've been saying exactly this for quite sometime now, fans who watched the Pastriots roll up 3 super bowl wins in 5 yrs have this view of the Pastriots that just is not reality. Sanchez had a career best day against the "the genius", the same Sanchize who could only muster a handful of first downs last week. And as the article points out, Sanchez is just but one of a host of mediocre Qb's who have torched the Pastriots, yet the rumor still persists that they are this great team with a mastermind.. I think when the Giants beat them in the SB, that was the Belicheat high water mark, the next season, the Dolphins ended their 22 game home winning streak, and last yr, the Ravens mauled them at home, in the playoffs, breaking their home playoff winning streak. See what they are folks, not what you remember, Asante Samuel isn't out at Cb, it is Darius Butler..and on and on.
No it wasn't.18-1 was the year after. They ran up the score quite a few times that year and people were saying its because they wanted to prove that spygate didn't help them
actually.. 18-1 was the spygate season. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007_New_England_Patriots_season also the year brady and moss set the TD records.
As the article points out, years of poor drafting have left the once vaunted defense more or less a mediocre lot. Sanchez..the same dude who had 4 first downs v the Jets, went off for 3 TD's?
Ty Wheatley was inactive v the Jest Darius Butler was abused so badly he was benched. The pastriots weakness is a part of the reason why I like the matchup on SNF.
I would say that Belecheat is not the mastermind nor the great player evaluator. That was all Scott Pioli. He is gone and the Patriots drafts have been busts. Belichick has not done anything special since Pioli has left. I attribute the Patriots talented depth and talent in their heyday to Scott Pioli.
Have to disagree, imho time has shown that the real brain there with the eye for talent was Thomas Dimitroff who landed in Atlanta. Compare the Chiefs roster to the Falcons and it is not even close in terms of talent and Coaching. I am stunned a bit that D butler was benched during the game, Sparano suffered the carnage of Vontae and Smith, Belichick is not so willing to suffer the dings.
Among other things, he also tried to take shortcuts with some Vet Free Agents who did not pan out leaving a dual hole: -Draft stinks..no depth -Sign a FA who busts Ooppss..back to square 1 with most of the defense getting old at once.
The Lions were terrible last year, they're terrible this year too. Same for Oakland, same for St. Louis.
Damn dude. Have some faith. All you gotta do is throw against them. Or run. Whichever. Their defense is crap. Go Bills! (don't suck; play at least mediocre offense)
You have a better chance of putting up the 40 burger with Fitz throwing against that **** Pastriots secondary than you did with Edwards against Miami, have some faith man!
#24 overall Brandon Meriweather=Benched #38 overall Darius Butler=Benched This after the wizards in the NFL, the guys who "know more than you" voted Merriweather to the pro bowl.
And now you see why it would have been better for Parcells to have brought in his Son-in-Law (Pioli) instead of Ireland (who isn't as bad as some we have had, but isn't on Piloi's level). Look at what Pioli is doing in KC in just 2 years. To think we could have had that !
Yeah, look what they have in KC..one horrible season and fast start against poor opponents. I'd take Ireland all day every day.
I wouldn't say lost it, I would say he moved away from his roots and massively screwed up some draft classes, his teams are still tough and disciplined, they just are not as talented as they once were. Recall the days when he would find late round picks along with seemly washed up running backs and ride them to a SB win?
Yes, like last night with Woodhead and Green-Ellis and like hes done with Fred Taylor? All he's missing is a SB, which he'll get once again before he leaves the game. The guy is still sharp and knows what he's doing. People are reading too much into these articles and not looking at what he's working with.
You can question his recent drafting but I don't think you can really question his coaching ability. It's hard to after last night. The team was initially overmatched, made adjustments and landed a blowout road victory. Our coaching staff could never pull that off against any opponent.
BB is a football genius. However, a genius of football will soon be figured out by the many other coaches who follow him and thus no longer be successful. Or at least as successful as he once was. That's juts how this game works.
