This is a harsh crowd For a Pilot it was very good. This series looks good. It will take a few episodes to connect with the fringe characters. BE PATIENT
I don't think people are being too harsh (nothing compared to the Lost thread haha). I'm hopeful the series will pick up, I just wasn't too crazy about the pilot.
Episode 2 was even more tough guy mob boss than the first. Not buying it... Better episode as a whole the. They're building Capone and Luciano well...
"I'm makin a statement." Thought it was a good episode. Particularly liked Rothstein's speech and how Nucky just throws that kid's money away at the end to show him how little it means to him. Idk about you man, but SOA is almost unwatchable at this point. This whole season has been awful and I can't believe how fast it's fallen off.
i am liking the show much better. I am still not liking the Nucky Thompson casting job. as soon as Omar showed up, the show got a million times better.
I dunno. It's been 3 episodes now and I'm finding the show to be extremely boring. The only thing keeping me somewhat interested us the Capone and Luciano storylines.
And you have to wonder how they're going to work those, since the history is written and all they can do is fictionalize the background. Agree that it is as boring as watching paint dry since the second episode. I'll give it one more shot next week and that'll be it if it doesn't improve.
There's only been 3 episodes. And how was Spoiler Watching that FBI (maybe CIA, I forget) agent having that witness shot up with coke and then having his organs twisted til he talked boring?
Admittedly, THAT was cool. What I don't like is that the show is Boardwalk Empire, but it is reaching out WAY far to involve Chicago when there was plenty of villainy right next door in New York to build suspense around.
It's about how Nucky balances his gangster **** and political status so it centers on what's going on with him in NJ. But what goes on in Chicago obv intersects with him and what was happening at the time. I like how they're branching out by sending Jimmy there. Those looking for action will certainly be getting it once he starts hangin out with Capone.
I just dont like Nucky at all. Doesn't even convincingly seem anything like someone who could deal with guys like Rothstein.
Maybe he won't. We're at the beginning of everything and the two just met in the first episode. Nucky isn't all that established. Rothstein might be my fav character.
Yeah I thought episode 3 was much better than the first 2 episodes but I do agree that it's a slow moving show and boring for the most part. I'm going to try to watch the whole first season but it better start to pick up a bit or I'm probably going to quit on it too.
downloading the first episode right now. i'm pretty interested in prohibition and what-not. if anyone needs a download link for episodes 1-3 let me know
im not loving this show, and most of it takes place in my backyard. i hate the leonardo dicaprio clone(JIMMah). im not enthralled by harldy any stoyrlines. its grand ole jersey with no damn story. it needs to get better, and actors need to stop pissing me off.
Yes he was the big part of the "Black Soxs" deal, paying off players i think. That was a year or two before the series begins.
The guy who plays Al Capone is quickly stealing the show. Every episode he's got at least one or two great one-liners. "Happened to me and I'm still beautiful." lmao
I think I'm going to give the show one more episode until I quit on it. It just doesn't interest me at all. Just way too slow. I just don't think it's a show for me.
If you're looking for 30mins of mob shoot-outs, you won't find it with this show. The show is about politics as much as anything and therefore requires a lot of dialogue.
I want something that will catch and keep my attention, I don't need an hour of non stop action to keep me entertained. The problem I have with this show is I just find it boring, plain and simple. I find myself struggling to watch each episode and consistently look at the clock to see when the episode is going to be over. To each his own though.
Show just keeps getting better and better.. The actors and scripts are incredible.. Love Boardwalk Empire... It's an amazing show. I actually feel sad when I look at the clock and see that 10 minutes are left in the episode...
The part of Nucky Thompson is almost painful to watch at this point to me... I love the crap going on in Chicago. I wonder why Nucky wasnt the side story.
Nucky is about to have a lot of **** go down with that crazy FBI dude. Givin himself lashes Jimmy and Al are great. Jimmy's mom is bangin.
I gave up on BE weeks ago. I can't stay with something that boring. And the fact that Bored to Death was renewed is just proof of how strange this world is. Yeah, I'm watching out of habit only now. It has sucked pretty bad this season.
I officially broke up with BE 2 episodes ago about 10 minutes in as soon as they started the minor midget sub storyline. I just couldn't keep watching.
