Why wouldn't they though? Best record in the conference right? Should they expect to lose 10 in a row or some ****?

So can you say the same thing for the Jets then?

Do you see what I am getting at here? The statement was made that the poster couldn't see the Jets getting past the Ravens, Colts or Steelers to make it to the Super Bowl. I think that's a fair opinion. But if you don't think the Jets can make it past those teams in the playoffs, then how in the hell could you think Miami can? And "Because I am a Miami fan" or "Because I have a gut feeling" doesn't count

I can not see how you can make an argument that Miami would have a better chance at advancing past those teams than the Jets. But I am all ears.

4-1 is nice, but it really doesn't mean d!ck at this point in the season. You can be a bad 4-1 and a good 2-2. You have to look at the team and how they have won and lost to determine whether they are championship material. And as I have stated in other posts, the Jets have too many holes right now...even with their 4-1 record.

I honestly thought the Jets would implode this season due to all of the premature credit they were receiving for the Superbowl. But to my dismay they have been playing extremely well. I guess all I can do now is hold on to the hope that they will start to decline later in the season :pointlol:

I'm not one who's saying Miami stands a better chance against Balt, Indy, or Pitt, but I do feel that if we're playing at the top of our game at the end of the season, then it's possible. However if those 3 are playing at the top of their game then I think the odds are stacked against us. We're just so young of a team.

The only reason I personally put Balt, Indy, and Pitt ahead of NY is b/c I feel that it's almost inevitable that Sanchez will hit a little skid at some point during this season as most extremely young QBs do (and that's not a knock on Mark by any means). However, if you guys are at the top of your game, I think you can compete with anyone. You played Balt close enough that I think playing them again could go either way. Will having Ed Reed back and Flacco with 16 games to gel with Housh & Boldin make a difference? IMO Pitt has a "big-game" experience advantage and I think they have a slight edge if you (or us) are playing them on their turf in the playoffs. Plus their defense (and LBs) might be too complex for Mark to handle at this stage. If Indy is hot at the end of the year, then it's difficult to not give Manning and their experience the edge. Just my thoughts.

Exactly. We were a slightly above average team in 08 who had the lucky advantage of playing a schedule full of extremely crappy defenses. Result: a deceptive 11-5 record........ b/c we were in no way shape or form an 11-5 team.

I don't think you have any more holes or question marks than we do...... at least not this year. LOL

I also thought the Jets would implode with all the drama surrounding them early on....... but I gotta give them credit for pulling through.

My hierarchy for teams that I would least like to face in the playoffs are:

    1. Pitt
    2. Balt
    3. Indy
    4. NY
    5. Houston
    6. NE

I give Miami a better chance against the colts then I give the jets but I give the jets a better chance vs pity and balt. I think you have a better interior o-line but I think Miami has better tackles equipped to deal with speed rusher like the colts have. Also, I think the fact Miami has a better QB gives us a better chance vs a team like indy. Our interior line will get their butts kicked by baltimore or Pittsburgh though.

Hate to splash a little realism on your happy party, but look at the facts.

~ You beat the Phins by a TD and needed a goal line stand to preserve it while Henne absolutely shredded your defense.

~ You beat the 1-3 Vikings by 9 but were in a position to lose the game if Favre doesn't implode, and the 41 year old shredded your defense also.

~ You lost to the Ravens where your offense looked miserable.

~ In your two games against top tier defenses (Ravens, Vikings) Sanchez looked downright ordinary.

    ~ You dominated 0-5 Buffalo.

~ Your only decent win was against the Patriots, who aren't all that great.

How about you actually beat an elite team first before you start the superbowl nonsense, okay?

Fixed. Jets will beat the Colts, Pitt/Balt is the toughest matchup for them, as far as the NFC....maybe the G-Men/Philly/Wash/....I am not big on NO this year....

and if you are looking for a fail-proof plan to beat the Jets.....Obama can beat them singlehanded...

I am going to respectfully disagree with you. If you had argued that Maimi would have greater success at defending the Colts passing attack, I would have been intrigued. But arguing that Miami would have an easier time on offense just doesn't make sense to me. You do have better tackles, but Ferguson and Woody are above average. In fact, they neutralized the Viking pass rush (for the most part) and pretty much blew up the Vikings defensive line. And while the Colts can speed rush, as it stands right now, the Jets can run the ball better than Miami (which is an excellent counter to speed rushing teams). How long had it been since the Vikings gave up over 150 rushing yards before the Jets did it to them on Monday? The Jets outright abused the Bills in the run game. So I would contend that the Jets would have an easier time on offense against the Colts than Miami would because our offense is more balanced and we can run the ball better.

You have to go back to 1986 to find the last time that the Jets have scored 28 or more points in 4 straight games. And with the addition of Holmes I think they will just get better. This may sound odd, but the Jets offense is not my concern (like it was last year). It's the defense that really troubles me.

Anyway, thanks for the reply. I contend that Miami would have just as hard of a time with the Colts as the Jets - probably harder.

I think you have to look at points scored as opposed to passing yards. That being said I think that the Colts passing game would present a huge problem for the Jets. The Jets would need to control the ball with their running game, finish drives with touchdowns and not FG's, and keep the ball out of Mannings hands.

Also, Favre had a good second half against the Jets. He was completely shut down in the first half.

The Jets don't have a great defense (against the run it is very good though), but don't make it sound like it is garbage.

~ You beat the Phins by a TD and needed a goal line stand to preserve it while Henne absolutely shredded your defense. - Had you scored, you would have needed a 2 point conversion to tie, which the last time I checked is an iffy proposition at best (too lazy to look up the success rate). You had the lead for all of 10 seconds in the game. Shredded? Come on. You scored 23 points. Shredded is not the word I would use.

~ You beat the 1-3 Vikings by 9 but were in a position to lose the game if Favre doesn't implode, and the 41 year old shredded your defense also. You scored 7 points against the same Vikings D and they had a major offesive weapon in Moss that they didn't have when you played them. But hey - they are the only team that has won a game that Miami beat. I agree that they are not very good.

~ You lost to the Ravens where your offense looked miserable. No argument there. Bad offensive game plan by the Jets and poor execution.

~ In your two games against top tier defenses (Ravens, Vikings) Sanchez looked downright ordinary. Thank God football is a team sport. I'd rather have a QB that manages the game, makes plays when he has to (and he made a bunch in the Vikings game), and my team wins the game. Kudos to Henne for posting big numbers in losing efforts.

~ You dominated 0-5 Buffalo. While Miami didn't.

~ Your only decent win was against the Patriots, who aren't all that great. Great enough to beat Miami on the road.

How about you actually beat an elite team first before you start the superbowl nonsense, okay? The wins against NE and Miami were good wins, and they flattened a bad team in Buffalo when they should. However, I will agree that they have not beaten an elite team, nor are they Super Bowl caliber.

He sure did, and I replied to every point. But I am not here to slam the Dolphins. I can give credit where credit is due. Some people let their blind hatred of a team cloud out common sense. Sanchez sucks. Rex is a lousy coach. Revis sucks. LT is old and done. The Jets defense stinks. It goes on and on. Whatever.

Right now the Colts are 29th against the run. I am sure the Jets game plan would be to pound the ball down their throats. Geene and LT left and rights. Control the clock and play keep away from Manning.

thing is with the Jets, they have a great running game going, dont turn the ball over, and Sanchez is making the throws he has to make....everything is going well for them right now.....as the calendar turns in a couple of weeks, and the cold air comes in (it was 43 last night here )....thats when mistakes and injuries are more repetitive...will they turn the ball over, will Sanchez continue to make the reads, will LT slow down...etc etc.....also the failure and success comes I believe at the ultimate gambler, Rex....

take the last 2 plays of that game the other night....he sends the house and Favre misses that pass, which Harvin would probably still be running, next play sends the house...intercepted...It is literally 2 totally different outcomes that could have happened.....Does Rex pick the wrong time to blitz in the wrong game??

I will say Favre exposed a chink in the Jets armor the other night, his hardcounts had the Jets showing their hand before the snap alot, in that who was dropping back into coverage as opposed to who was coming....now after they show their hand, it is up to the QB to read it, process it, and react accodingly.....thats where Henne comes in...

No you didn't. You turned every point into comparing what the Jets did to what the Dolphins did. All that amounts to is finger pointing. You didn't rebut one point I made.

I took no credit away from the Jets. I'm just not ready to be talking about who from the NFC they'll be facing in the superbowl. Sorry if that upsets you. :wink2:

Blind hatred? Okay, so telling the truth is blind hatred? Maybe I should be like Mark Cannizzaro and just give Ryan a ball rub while saying they'll win every game every week, the rest of the NFL can go home and we can just give Ryan the Lombardi trophy now? Would that be better? ;)

First of all, you guys can slam the Phins all you want. Nowhere did I say they were an elite team OR superbowl contenders, and I think you'd be hard pressed to find any Dolphin fan in here who has more than 2 functioning brain cells who thinks they are either, so countering with how bad the Phins are doing is both ridiculous and childish.

The thread is already anointing the Jets AFC super bowl reps. My reply was in response to that.

363 yards and 2 TDs against the "#1 defense in the NFL" as Ryan said in pretty much every interview last year.

I don't know what you call almost 400 yards through the air, but I call it shredded.

Again, countering what I said with "but Miami did...." is like arguing Obama's mistakes with "but Bush did..."

Not the point. Again, no one is saying Miami is superbowl material. Stick to the topic of the thread, Paisan. ;)

Again deferring to the Dolphins. So far Sanchez is 1-1 in those games. Let's see how the rest of the season plays out.

By the way, if Dolphin defenders had stickier fingers Sanchez throws 3 INTs in the game against them and we're talking 3 games he was downright ordinary.

You're a broken record bro. Is that all the defense you've got in this debate?

I'll say it one more time so it sinks in....we're not talking about Miami here. Look at the title of this thread.

And the record keeps on skipping....

Hey! You finally got it!

Before you go off on another rant bro, take the time to actually understand where the first point is coming from, capiscé?

This also goes for you three assclowns who were so quick to "thank" his "rebuttal". :tongue2:

Barring injuries to the OLine, I don't see the running game slowing down. If anything, I see it getting better as Slauson becomes more experienced. I think LT is running with a purpose and as long as they take some of the load off him with Greene, he will be fine. Sanchez is the X factor. He doesn't need to carry this team. He just needs to manage the game and limit turnovers. So far so good. But I agree that the book is still wide open on him. It's been pointed out how young Henne is. Sanchez is younger at 23 years old. He is going to make mistakes.

I agree with you on Rex's relentless blitzing. He lives by the sword and he will die by the sword. He does not like to sit back, especially with the game on the line. I am sure his thinking was that if he dropped guys into coverage that they would get no pressure on Favre and eventually someone would get open. The Jets would get dinked and dunked into FG range. He thought he had a better shot and trying to pressure Favre and unfortunately the only way the Jets can pressure a QB is by blitzing. It is a huge weakness on this team. And this is not something new. They had several blitz breakdowns that cost them games last year. But Rex is stubborn as a mule. I think he feels it gives him his best chance.

In regards to the Harvin play where Revis got pushed down like a rag doll, the pressure from the blitz contributed to the poor throw. It's not like he was in a clean pocket and just misfired.

The pass rush is a problem and it is a major reason why I think the Jets will not go far this year. But Rex doesn't have many options. If anything, he needs to come up with some more exotic blitzes.

I will say this - he should learn when it is ok to play zone. I'd rather him blitz a Farve and try to fool a Henne with coverage. I hope he learns.

I don't know how to do a multi quote, so I will try this one more time

~ You beat the Phins by a TD and needed a goal line stand to preserve it while Henne absolutely shredded your defense. The Jets won the game....an divisional game, on the road, against a decent team. Henne put up big numbers and LOST. I can point to tons of games where a QB throws for big yards, especially in a losing effort. The goal line stand amounted to us not having to defend a low percentage 2 point try for a TIE. I don't know what else you want me to say to counter this point.

~ You beat the 1-3 Vikings by 9 but were in a position to lose the game if Favre doesn't implode, and the 41 year old shredded your defense also. You play who is on the schedule. And again, we beat a 1-3 team at home like we should. You say Favre imploded. I say the Jets defended him well enough to shut him out in the first half and pressured him into missing a wide open Harvin and a INT that we returned for a touchdown. Lowery had to make the play, did he not. He could have dropped it. Bottom line is that it was a win and the Jets OLine dominated the Vikings DLine. And they defended Favre when the game was on the line. They also scored late on the game when they absolutely had to.

~ You lost to the Ravens where your offense looked miserable. Again, no argument. Bad offensive game plan and poor execution.

~ In your two games against top tier defenses (Ravens, Vikings) Sanchez looked downright ordinary. Does the QB need to look like Joe Montana every game in order to win? On balanced team he doesn't. So what if Sanchez looked ordinary? He made key plays in the Vikings game, did he not, especially on the Jets last TD drive. He wasn't ordinary there.

~ You dominated 0-5 Buffalo. Indeed they did. They beat them like a good team should beat a bad team. Had they squeaked by them, you would have a point....but they didn't. They beat them like they were playing a high school team. This is the worst of all your points.

~ Your only decent win was against the Patriots, who aren't all that great. Bill Parcells says "You are what you are". The Patriots are 3-1, which is pretty good to me. It was a divisional game at home, which in this league you have to win. And they did it in convincing style by shutting out Brady/Moss/Welker in the second half. What more do you want?

How about you actually beat an elite team first before you start the superbowl nonsense, okay? Again, I agree. You won't hear any Super Bowl talk out of me.

Was that better? The only time I referenced the Dolphins was when I had to in your first point.

    That's alot better.

At first you were sounding alot like the Middle East. Your boy DR is in here spouting all kinds of nonsense, yet the only time you decided to go on the attack was when a Dolphin fan said something.

But truly...again you missed my point. I wasn't saying the Jets weren't good, so there really was no need for your defense of my points. All your defending did was re-enforce that they were good. Then at the end after all that you agree with what I was saying in the first place.

Kinda sounds like the old "I can say what I want about my brother but no one else better say anything..." way of thinking. :tongue2:
