home team is usually given 3 pts.....so they are basically .5 pt favorites.

Aye, if it were three (3) then you could "push," (a tie for betting purposes) which gives you a percentage of the money you put down back depending on the bookie. Since its 3.5, GB must win by four (4) or greater since no half points exist on the score sheet. As SICK said, GB is more or less favored by .5 points as the home team is favored by three (3) points the majority of the time. Nonetheless, the lines change from day to day leading up to the game with the activity that both teams get from people betting. Or they do not change because Vegas is confident in a certain outcome...they are oftentimes right.

If you think the Packers will win take that bet NOW. The line will change to the 6-7 range once they say Rodgers will play. So if your betting on Miami wait for the line to change

Ah forgot about that it's either one or the other since you can't actually score half a point.

def. dropping $$ on the dolphins, once the line moves up to around 6-7 for the packers (rodgers playing)

I think about it like this....if we lose, ill be so depressed ill just spend that money on booze anyways, if they win, i win more money for booze to celebrate! WIN WIN

This. I used to make petty bets (family, friends, small amount of money) with the Dolphins when they played other teams that my family or friends root for and they NEVER won. So, I stopped doing it. Sick, if we lose, this one's on you.

What strikes me funny is that the overall points (in the link) are "OFF". That tells me that even Vegas has no idea what to expect. This is a little rare. (I think)

lol I agree with Bick...but you could do this: Bet on GB with the moneyline. If they win then you make money but the Dolphins lost. If Dolphins win you are happy with them winning, but lost money lolol Just screwing around, but its a thought

I take the opposite approach, but not to "hedge my happiness" so to speak.

Whenever I make a bet over 20 bucks on a football game, I'm guaranteed to lose. Never fails. So for big games I sometimes bet 20 straight up on the other team. I consider it buying a win!

I've never agreed with this logic which I hear all the time. They would be a .5 favorite if they played on a neutral field but they aren't, they are playing in GB which makes them a 3.5 point favorite.

Same here, it is like paying for a Dolphins Win.

I think the line should move with Rodgers return to the lineup, but either way we are underdogs.

well i know....but as dolfans...we can take solace in knowing we arent picked to lose by 3.5 because we are inferior, its just because we are on the road. just like we were 3 pt favorites at buffalo, we were techincally 6 pt favorites, because buffalo was home team and they are given 3 pts.

This. It's nice to know our team on paper equally matches up with another team. Skill wise they think its a coin flip, but the home crowd factors in to give GB the win from the bookies.
