instead of just being a negative Nancy about all of this, I'll offer a solution...

It's simple really. Just hire Sam Elliott as our press secretary.

I really don't know a ton about your coach, but here is my observation. Ryan is a blowhard. We all know this. He talks tough and wants his team to play that way. Some of the stuff that comes out of his mouth makes me want to tell him just to stfu. But come game time, the emotion you are most likely to see from him is anger. When they blow an assignment, he looks like he wants to kill someone. Does he celebrate a big stop at a big point in the game? Sure. What coach doesn't?

In the games I have seen the Dolphins play, Sparano looks like a goddamn cheerleader on the sideline. They can have a 10 play drive stall, kick a field goal, and he is clapping his hands and pumping his fists like they just scored the winning touchdown. The guy gets excited for an freaking extra point. Now this is just me, but I would rather see less of that and more pissed off. Scored a touchdown? Good. That's what you are supposed to do. Blow an assignment? I want the coach to be pissed and I want the players to know he's pissed.

I may be way off base here, but the constant cheering bugs the crap out of me. I am not saying he is a good or a bad coach. I haven't watched him enough to make that call. But that is the one thing that would bug me as a fan.

You could be right about Sparano but I'm not sure just yet. Psychologically you want to encourage young players so being a cheerleader makes sense on a team like ours. Now as we grow older, like your team, I think a coach should take the opposite approach and be a stern perfectionist. I am interested to find out if being a cheerleader is Sparano's nature or if he adapted it to the youth of our team

I only did a quick search of average age (minus specialists) and came up with this: http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcwest/post/_/id/19677/age-rankings-for-every-nfl-team

I'm not sure 26.13 (Jets) is that much older that 25.84 (Miami).

And I don't think he needs to be a stern perfectionist. Just a little more pissed off now and again.

You might want to take a look at players that actually have NFL experience.

    Dolphins: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/mia/2010_roster.htm

    Jets: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/nyj/2010_roster.htm

Dolphins 2.9 years experience and the Jets are at 5.0.

You guys need to win it all this year.

i think special teams is 1/3 of the game because of field position, not the amount of plays. if you can get kick returns to the 40 or better, the offense doesn't have to work that hard to score and doesn't get worn out from having to march down the entire field every drive. And if you can pin the other team back to the 20 or behind the 20 the defense plays a great role in getting the special teams to maintain good field position. if you had a good defense and good special teams, you can win a ton of games with a mediocre offense.

i would also like to add that the kicker is always the leading scorer on any team. there's times where special teams is less than a third of the game and there's times its greater than a third. i think saying that special teams is 1/3 of the game is quite accurate.

i think that sparano's sideline attitude goes a great way in motivating our team. i would like to see him get more angry in certain situations though.

I'm not the "enemy". Give me a break. I just made an observation.

Honestly, as a Jets fan, I hope Sparano stays a long time.

your observation was filled with BS, and inaccuracies...Its ok though, your just trying to sensationalize your own opinion because your jealous, and deep down ashamed of your own coach, regardless of your record...for which I don't blame you, I would be ashamed too if he was the coach of our team, he's a gross human being..No BS.

Wow. Do you have a degree in psychology or mind reading?

Do I wish Ryan would shut up sometimes? Sure I do, especially last year. But I have no problem with him as a coach. He needs to learn more about the offensive side of the game, that's for sure. And I wish he wouldn't blitz as much as he does in certain situations. But as far as the demeanor he has brought to the team, I love it. His players play hard for him and he has their backs. I'm certainly not ashamed of him. This is football, not badminton.

But to each is own...you like your coach, I think he's a scumbag ...I like my coach, you think he cheerleads to much and looks like an idiot on the sideline.

    Whatever.

It's possibly the greatest username right now. For me, I have greater expectations...Douche Logarithms will be the main character in a series of children's books that will show kids how to become successful in the 21st century by cleverly knowing when and when not to apply the right amount of "Douchiness". All I need is a catch phrase...any suggestions?

Right now I'm thinking he'll end every episode by saying in a very cheesy tone "That'll douche!" and then wink at the camera. (BTW-did I mention that sitcoms are the new children's books?)

...His trusty sidekick dog will be called Smarmaduke, "Smarmy" for short.

Well we were all drinking the koollaid after all those ugly wins in 2008, weren't we??? We had 7 games by 7 points or less, were we complacent then too???

I don't know, why we all believe in ugly wins??? IMO, the team performs better than the other team, executes more big plays to earn a victory...

Somehow we all believe that a team MUST score 20-30 points to paint a pretty picture... Something like the 38-31 win against KC in 2008...

As many know and have stated, this is a young team, which makes them incosistent, and those ugly wins are a WIN in the season... like they were in 2008...

I doubt it. Be sure to tell him you think our stadium is the loudest the Jets have played in away from home this year.

I agree with you that Sparano "cheerleads" a lot. I don't have a problem with it though, as everyone has different coaching styles. You don't have to get angry and jump all over someone to get your point across or to help actually coach your players up. I mean when someone screws up they usually know it, and feel bad enough for letting their teammates down. Don't need them feeling the need to press (and make more mistakes), there will be more chances to try and make it right.
