    A 48 yard PI call...

I really, really, really wish the NFL would go the NCAA route and make Defensive PI a 10 yard penalty and an automatic first down, and that's it. Why? Because making it a spot foul, makes the assumption that the intended WR was going to make the catch. That isn't always the catch, and shouldn't be assumed to be with the penalty call. It really irritates me.

The drive took 5 plays and went 54 yards. Sanchez one completion accounted for 41% of the drive. You make it sound like he threw one 6 yard pass and they ran the other 48 yards

He got them to the Denver 48 before the PI call. Last time I checked that's past midfield. But that's nitpicking. However, calling that PI play "incidental/accidental" contact is sheer stupidity. The DB clearly interfered with Holmes and prevented him from catching the ball.

Pumps twice, keeps the play alive with his feet and has enough sense to throw into single coverage to Holmes. Was he fortunate? Sure. But it wasn't a traditional Hail Mary by any stretch on the imagination.

Ok. I get the sense that you are joking now :) Admit it. If Henne throws one up to Marshall in the same spot with the same outcome, you guys would be balls deep into his anus.

Unless it benefits your team, right?

I saw it live on TV. I have it on my DVR. I've watched it 6 or seven times. Holmes had a great chance to catch that ball, if not for the interference.

Did you see the phantom unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Leonhard and the TD that wasn't a TD by Denver? That was just horrendous. Or the phantom PI call on Cromartie? Or the offensive PI calls on the Jets? This game was one of the most poorly officiated games I have seen and the only call they certainly got right was the PI call on Holmes.

^^ This. But it will never happen. The NFL is too concerned with making the games 'watchable', and that means scoring. If it makes for a more 'compelling' game, a high-scoring affair, then the League is all for it. If Detroit throws a Hail Mary pass to Megatron from mid-field in the waining seconds of their week 17 game for a 44-42 win and a trip to the playoffs, and there's blatant PI in the endzone, what would you as 'da Commish want to see? A 10-yd penalty and another HM attempt with no time left? Or any number of possible plays from the one inch line?? :wink2: Just sayin'...

And yeah, the Jests are lucky as **** this season...but no luckier than we were two years ago. Regardless of what anyone might think of Dirty- he's winning games (and not losing them). Yeah, you can write all you want about bad plays, bad decisions, shoddy mechanics and gigantic egos, blahblahblah....but the facts remain- they are winning. And they whooped us on our home turf.

You can't deny those two facts. It sucks, but it is.:pity:

*And BTW- it's my perspective that the Jests are winning b/c of something we haven't been getting from our *ahem* "better compensated" players- great line play on both sides of the ball. When you win POA, you're more than halfway there.

I didnt watch the game but watched the PI on NBC is super slo-mo. It was definitely 110% Pass Interference clear as day.

This is not the Ref's fault. It's that big ****** Tim Tebow

You realize, once again, he was VERY lucky he didnt throw 4 INT's. The rate they are being dropped is VERY un-canny. Almost REDICULOUSLY uncanny

You know what? Credit where credit is due: The Jests are legit. Every win involves some element of luck. Football is a combination of talent, preparation and luck. That team (as much as I might hate to admit) has a nice combination of these three going for them at the present time. Their coach has them prepared to the point where almost no look surprises them (on defense at least), they've got the talent to dominate the line of scrimmage (which IMO is much more important than skill positions for a team trying to make a championship run). And I don't have to look past the dropped INTs (among other things) early in the year to discuss the tremendous luck this team has had.

This was one of Rex's worst coached games. The team was flat in the first half, they weren't prepared for the amount of running Denver did, he challenged a call he shouldn't have (costing a TO) and didn't challenge one that he absolutely should have.

    It's RIDICULOUSLY, damn it!

What do you want me to say? Maybe he will have some good throws deflect off his receiver's hands for some "not his fault" INT's to even things out as the year goes on. As long as the Jets keep winning, I don't care.

This is probably the most important win for us outsides the Dolphins and Pats game. Why? They found a way to win when our offense struggles.

Goddamn I love our team. 5-1 going into the bye. Revis will be 100% and so will Pace. Letssssssssss go!

No bro, I dont like the rule regardless of who it benefits for the reason I stated in my post. Its got nothing to do with the outcome of the Jets game. Sorry if thats all you took from my post, but I didnt even mention the jets, or the game. All I mentioned was the fact it was a 48 yard penalty. That in itself is enough to be frustrated with. Like I said, it makes the assumption that the WR would have made the catch, and in alot of cases, that's simply not what the outcome may have been. Sorry if you took it as a shot at your team's game today, I was just voicing my displeasure with the rule and how the penalty is assessed. As far as I'm concerned, it should be 10 and an automatic first down, I dont care if its benefiting the Dolphins, Jets, Pats, Colts, Cowboys... whoever. I dont care.

    Fair enough - my bad.

So what happens under your system when a sure handed WR is flat out tackled on a 40 pass that he normally catches 9 out of 10 times? 10 yard penalty? I think you would see a LOT more PI by defenders. 10 yards? I'd risk it, especially on a bomb where I was beat.

He threw a 22-yard pass first play. The running game got the other 59%.

For comparison's sake, I was pleading (yelling) all afternoon for Dan Henning to have Chad Henne 'lead' us on scoring drives with running plays up the middle.

See, here is my problem with TV coverage at large (slight tangent): they show ALL personal fouls and interference calls in super slow motion. And then you have knuckle-dragging former offensive lineman analyzing it as if the players are thinking/playing/reacting in real time. The result is a skewed look back at what happened.

Midfield - purely semantics. The point I was making is that they were not in scoring position. So Sanchez led them a whole six feet past where the Donkeys put that big ugly emblem on their field. Congrats.

Ok, I can't stretch the truth anymore on this one. I'll just say that after rolling left to escape pressure and about to be hit in the face, he underthrows it to the only guy on his side of the field. The only guy in his field of vision.

...and gets bailed out by the same DB who wandered off like a kid at Disney World and allowed Brett Favre to complete that "Oh what the hell, I'm getting bodyslammed. Just throw it up....OH SWEET, TOUCHDOWN!" crap to end the first half in Week 1 2008 at Miami.

    :tantrum:

Yeah, I was joking (at first as if you were a Dolfan).

If Henne had done it? Pure skill baby. ;)

I give an *** rats what some new York fan thinks e fact is the league does want a Hispanic superstar to market to a significant section of the fan base and prospective fan base. If you could read but I forgot your a new yorker than you would see I said he is doing OK with a hell of a team around him to fix his mistakes.

THe league is pumping him as some superstar when he's just another QB he ain't prove **** yet. yes I watched some of that game and he if anyone got mobbed it was Denver not e New Jerk Jets

Just pitiful post. The refs did everything in their power to GIVE the Broncos the game. Hopw the hell did they get hosed? Are you ****ing kidding me? WTF does Sanchez race have to do with anything? Isnt Miami Cuba North?

    Phanton PI on Cromartie
Phanton illegal touching on Drew Coleman, even the announcers were baffled.
Two OFFENSIVE PI's in a row on the JETS
Demayrious Thomas NOT ACTUALLY CATCHING A TD PASS RULED A TD.
Lloyd NOT ACTUALLY having possession of a ball that was ruled a catch.

YET the JETS still won, why, because the one call the refs actually got right was in our favor and was actually right. It's ok for 'Dolphans' to whine about refereeing and fixed games but its not ok for JETS fans to? FOH.com

The refs have been atrocious this week. I was even watching your game earlier, and you guys got absolutely hosed on that 4th and 1. And other questionable flags. You cant sit here and say you're 100% happy with the refereeing. I mean you guys won so it doesnt matter, but what if you lost, that **** would sting.

The problem with me, and I'm sure other Dolphins fans wasn't the fact it was called PI on Hill, it was blatant. The frustration is that Sanchez threw a Hail Mary on 4th down that was underthrown and would have been incomplete had Hill left Holmes alone (Sorry BB, I know you disagree with that, but I don't see Holmes catching that ball). It's just hard to watch from our perspective something like that happen when the Broncos could have won the game.

I missed the first few drives of the game but on the radio the Jets announcers said Sanchez' first 3 passes should have been intercepted. This is the luck us Dolphins fans are talking about in frustration. He's had INT's dropped all season long and then he finally gets his first game winning drive...and it comes on a 48 yard PI call on 4th down.

Just frustrating from a Dolphins fan's perspective. But again, the Jets are doing what good teams do, finding ways to win.

sanchez ****in sucks, lets be real. the guy could easily have 10 plus ints this year, he never throws for over 200 yds, and for a qb not to, thats pathetic.

the jets will start to lose eventually and will be in 3rd place before we know it.

Excuse: Bad play by Vontae, and good play by Rodgers and Jennings. No excuse, it was a mistake.

I'm glad we won, but I was certainly not happy with the refereeing at times. It did seem like there were a number of questionable non/calls in the games I watched yesterday.

The same things happen now though, Look at Hill on the play you're referring to in the Jets game, he knew he was beat, he had no clue where the ball is, and he still raped the WR. All he did was give the defense another chance to make the stop further down the field. but, it shouldn't have been 48 yards down the field IMO. I think thats just ridiculous to give any team 48 yards worth of field position because of some contact down field. Again, nothing to do with the Jets, it just happens to be the example we're using. I just don't like the rule, at all. Never have. I love it the college way. You get some yards, you get an automatic first down, and its back to playing football. Not, here, here's half the field (or whatever it may be), now lets keep playing.

5-1 going into the BYE. It'd be a real sham if the JETS were to toot their own horn for the next couple of weeks and come out flat to start the rest of the year. Crazy things happen when you start patting yourself on the back rather than continuing to improve. Can Rex Ryan allow that to happen? You betcha! Will this happen? Remains to be seen.

Ignoring records, it seems like this year especially (more than any in my recent memory) that the NFL teams are not separated by very much at all. Most every game seems competitive. Obviously a few aren't but by and large they have been. So with that said I hope after the bye that 5-1 record flips to 1-5. I'd not be surprised by an 8-4 though.

Parity rules the NFL this year. It's crazy. Jets are a FG away from being 6-0 and a few plays away from being 1-5.

Nah, I was just kidding around. ;)

I'm one that doesn't like this era's pass defense rules to begin with. Even still, lots of really, really bad calls this weekend. The one in Kansas City was just ridiculous. That's about as bad as it gets. Pretty much decided the game.

I really resent the fact that every time a pass falls incomplete in this league, everyone is looking around for -- or calling for -- a flag.

As a fan of futbol and american football, I must say that the NFL and its players mimic those of futbol/soccer. In the past, as my Father has stated on more than one occasion, futbol/soccer players did not fake injuries or flop to draw fouls...In the modern game, it is rampant and the same, to an extent, is occurring in the NFL with players clamoring for penalty flags...
