For those of you unhappy with Miami's offensive output against Pittsburgh

-Miami's offense scored the most points anyone has scored on Pittsburgh all season.

-Miami gave up just two sacks and committed just one turnover against a team that is amongst the league leaders in sacks and is No. 1 in terms of forcing turnovers.

-You know how many teams have scored more than one TD against that defense all season long? One.

-You know how many TDs supposed offensive juggernaut Atlanta put up against the Pittsburgh defense? Zero.

-You know how many teams have run for 75+ yards against the Pittsburgh defense this year? Zero

Miami did more than enough to win today, against arguably the best team in the NFL. Did they make mistakes in all phases of the game? Of course. Every team does every week.

But at 3-3, they're still in the thick of the playoff hunt. As long as they continue to improve and clean up some of their deficiencies they'll be in good shape.

One game a time, people (I know, it's a hard concept).

2 sacks? I only remember the Foote sack where Henne had no chance to get away.

Nice job Hugo. Thanks again for putting things in perspective even after today's screwjob. This team is improving, and is much improved from last year. If we can clean up the mistakes, and overcome officials apparently, this team could really accomplish alot and become dangerous.

Thanks for pointing that out. Some people are going on like we were playing Buffalo. They weren't perfect but did enough to win. They should have won, plain and simple. Generally Henne had all day long to make his passes.

You are correct, that was the only sack the Steelers had.

all great points... just hard to take the way the game ended. Personally, I thought the defense was more at fault for the lose then the offense followed by the kick off return coverage.

I do that in Madden. Why cant Sparano and the phin's for real!!! :tantrum:

After today, I actually feel really confident in this team going up against anyone in the league. Our offense did alot of great things against the leagues best defense. If we can do that against the steelers, as long as we minimize our mistakes, we can do it against anyone else, no doubt.

I understand the emotion. The frustration. The letdown. The blown opportunities. The sometimes questionable play calling.

Now would someone please explain to me, in absolute, practical, long-view terms, where the shame is in playing within a point of the Pittsburgh Steelers (the Pittsburgh f'ing Steelers) all game long and coming within a bad call of beating them in the last three minutes.

    Please.

You might be right. I thought the last play of the game was ruled a sack/fumble but it looks like it was ruled incomplete.

I think people aren't blaming the Fins too much. But it's another example of coming up short against an elite team that we've been seeing since 2008, blown call or not. Almost but not quite. I want to see a win and some TDs next week. Take out their anger on the rest of the schedule.

I'm impressed by what we did, but we seem to play to the competition. We'll see how we do these next few weeks. A big win against Cincy would be huge, but I of course expect a nail biter. Playing to the competition can be dangerous against teams like the Lions and Raiders [especially in Oakland].

    Really well put.

Moreover, all three of Miami's losses have come against 5-1 teams (3 of the 4 best teams in the NFL in my opinion) and two of those were in contention until the very end.

To me that suggests that while Miami is definitely not elite at this point (they are what their record says they are) they are definitely moving in the young direction.

They're a team filled with youth with a nice mix of in-their-prime veteran leadership. And most importantly, they have a young quarterback that is progressing nicely and could just be the first franchise quarterback this town has seen since Danny Boy.

    Ya, no.

The Jets/Patriosts are 5-1, with division wins against us (ie 2.5 game lead already on us after 6 games......)

The Steelers are 5-1 and Ravens 6-2

We're in deep do-do when it comes to making the playoffs

Thanks for your contribution. Now let's go over some basics:
-take things one week at a time. You have no idea how any of those teams will finish out the season. All you can worry about is winning the next game on the schedule, not projections like the one you made above
-Miami was 2-4 in 2008 and finished 11-5
-Teams routinely go on winning/losing streaks in the NFL. Miami plays 3 of the 4 teams you listed above, which means that they have a chance to cut their deficit by 2 games against each.

Or just keep projecting things way into the future.

Either way is fine by me.

I could give a damn about the INT's, attempt/com ratios or the points that we scored. In the end the only numbers that matter are in the win column........and we suck. Henne is a one dimensional joke. Parcells knows it and so do 1/2 of the fans. Why did we get Brandon Marshall on this team?

This team has a 10 yard mentality. We only throw 10 yards and we can only defend ten yards. Anything over 10 yards we are offensively inept to deliver. This is an offense without big play ability who wastes its time throwing underneath instead of throwing long.

Either fire Henning or fire Sporano but lets find someone that put some points up on the board. With the breaks we had we should have scored 20 in the first half. The acceptance of this lackluster offense is an insult to anyone who knows what a real offense is supposed to look like. All the time and money we spent and we can't even win by 7 points. Freakin pathetic.

If Ross is as frustrated as I am he'd fire everyone. Our players (and fans) deserve better than the offensive scheme can provide, yet nothing is being done to fix it. We have sooo much talent - why can't we score points!? I guess now its on to Cincy and lets do better there.

Here's a thought; we just played the best scoring defense in the league. A defensive that had not allowed more than 17 points in a game until today and has allowed 2 touchdowns in a game once all season.

    Perhaps that answers your question.

P.S. I do agree that the only thing that matters now is the next game. One game a time, folks.

First Parcells leaves for a mysterious reason, then Sparano starts turning on his own fans and now we can't score a touchdown. Pretty simple math really.

Henning needs to go. It's so plain to see. Nobody has a problem that Miami only got 1 f***ing yard after that opening kickoff return fumble, huh? Or then after they get the ball on the 13 after the second turnover and the play call is run run run, field goal. Once I saw this I had a bad feeling about the game. Not to mention at the end of the game after they moved the ball right down the field, Henning goes into WANNSTACHE MODE and gets completely conservative, PLAYING FOR A FIELD GOAL when there is 4 minutes left in the game and a field goal only puts you up 2. How many games are we going to see this team lose because we have a coordinator who is SCARED to take risks in THE MOST CRITICAL TIMES of games? He f***ing sucks. Maybe all you Henning apologists will figure it out soon.

if he's so conservative why do we outscore every other team when we play the league's best defenses. we scored more points against the steelers than any other team. we scored more points against the jets than any other team. at some point you have to give the defenses some credit

I like the old man, I really do; but maybe its time for him to go. Either that or he is just drawing the plays that he is being told to draw. -or- he is drawing plays that he feels his talent can handle. I don't know what the answer is but this offense doesn't resemble in any way the days of the real wildcat and unbalanced lines than led us to the division title just a little while ago.

I am getting tired of Sporano telling us how good we are, I'd like him to show us. We should have left Marshall in Denver and saved a ton of money. We aren't using him anyway. All we heard was how we needed receivers - now we have them and we aren't using them. I don't get it man I really don't

I am sure Henne had no idea if Rothlisberger scored or fumbled on the bootleg - HE'S NEVER SEEN ONE THAT CLOSE UP BEFORE. HENNE LOOKS LIKE HE HAS LEAD IN HIS SHOES. HE IS THE MOST DEAD, ONE DIMENSIONAL PIECE OF CRAP IN THE NFL. When all of the LB's are in coverage and he still won't run for a first down or advance the ball it's time to bench him and start Thigpen. Sporano had better get a grip or go down with the Henne ship.

And that means we aren't using him? He was an inch away from 3 TDs (last week didn't get the 2nd foot down, and this week the pass was just out of the reach of his hands). There were probably a few others where he just missed the TD in the EZ. With that said, you shouldn't force him the ball just because he has 1 TD so far, even if I would like to see more RZ passes go his way.
