    1. I was impressed with your team's toughness and physicality. We've already played the Titans and Ravens this year, but I think you guys measured up every bit, and the Steeler locker room was full of respect for the Phins after the game.

    2. I was not impressed with your offensive play calling. From an outsider's perspective, either the coaching staff has no confidence in Henne or Henne has no confidence in himself. I don't believe you guys took a shot down the field the entire game. After the second first quarter fumble, you guys ran three straight run plays and kicked the FG. I remember thinking, "boy, I'd be pissed to be a Phin fan after that." The final two minute drive was horrible, the first down run was up there with our reverse in the two minute drill at the end of the first half for stupid. The subsequent pass play was a mess too.

Henne got great protection in the second half and showed some talent when he had lots of time. But anytime we got a shread of pressure on him, he broke down in the pocket. I'm just not sure I can honestly say that you got a championship level QB right now.

Nonetheless, you guys have real talent. You have a great O-line, two top tier receivers who compliment each other well, an above average defense, and yet you played like an underdog that simply want to keep it close and hope for a break at the end.

I don't know if we're the best team in the AFC, but I think it's fair to say we're one of the better teams. To beat us, you have to go for the kill. Your staff's offensive gameplan was the exact opposite of that. So while you guys moved the ball decently at times, and were able to cause our offense some problems, we were able to get 7 points in one 50-yard play, while you guys seemed happy to kick field goals. It just seemed like your coaching staff has the mindset of a 9-7 team, even though you have 11-5 talent.

    3. The fumble: Basically, it's this simple: the refs screwed up and called a TD when there was a fumble. After that, everything is irrelevant. It didn't matter who recovered the ball because the play was called a TD; the ball was dead. You couldn't have recovered the fumble because a TD had been called, and anyone who saw the call would not have been competing for the ball. The refs' reliance on no video evidence as to who recovered is a red herring and CYA for them. Once the TD was called, there was no possible good outcome for you guys. They already irrevocably screwed up the play.

The Steelers' guys take on it was that they had hands on the ball too, and the reason the Phins defender walked away from the pile with the ball is because officials were telling them to get up because the TD had been called.

Point is didn't matter who got the ball. You guys have a legitimate gripe because the refs did exactly what they are not supposed to do and they cut off a play that should have still been in progress.

It easy to say "well, if you'd made plays some other time, you wouldn't have been dependent on the call." But, hell same thing could have been said about us. Anytime a ref makes a mistake and it impacts the outcome of the game, it sucks, and that's what happened.

    4. Your coach wearing whites at home so we would wear black uniforms is amazingly gay. It's bush league, and the Steelers feed off stuff like that. Once again, I just don't feel like your HC has the right mentality for your team. You guys are actually good; you can win games against good teams without tricks and luck.

What message does that send? It says to your guys "we need every tiny advantage we can get to win this game, even if it means we aren't going to wear our regular home uniforms in our home stadium in front of our home crowd."

Every team's fans has a different philosophy on that. on steelerfury, we generally are OK with other team's fans as long as they are constructive. It's a good outside perspective.

I generally like to chat with opposing fans after games, but if I am not welcome I will disappear.

Some good points , however the wearing white is 100% off base.

It matters and you should have home field advantages ,plus all white is my favourite uniform look for Miami.

    3. "The refs screwed up and gave us the ball back, and thus practically handed us the game, for no reason." The refs admitted after the review that Rapestberger fumbled into the endzone, thus the refs should have been forced to call either a touchdown for the steelers or a touchback for the dolphins. Otherwise, they basically said "he fumbled...buttt we're going to pretend it didnt happen"

You got the win, admitting the call handed you the win on a silver platter won't take it away or make it count less at the end of the season.

im glad you come in peace, but i live in PA and ive had to deal with several steelers fans explain to me how, by the rules, what the refs did was correct.

That call, much like the tuck rule back when for Tom Brady and the pats, made me lose faith in the sport of football. When your team makes a play that could have (should have) won the game, and the refs take it away from you, you stop thinking the game is fair.

Aslo, #4. Really? EVERY TEAM in the NFL does that. you think the Buccs where red on a hot day? You think the Jags where black in Jax? Notice the chargers always wear white in san diego? this is the dumbest thing ive ever heard. (again, sorry)

Dude, not cool. Hes not trolling so play nice. If opposing fans are nice theres no need to act up.

Personally, I think hes pretty much spot right up until #4 where I really dont care what color uniforms we wear. We could wear pink for all I care if we're winning games...not that I want us wearing pink

The Dolphins have been wearing white at home (except for night games) forever. Where do you get off thinking they wore white just for the steelers? Simply not true.

Heh. We are wearing pink right now. Pretty much universally hated by all Steeler fans. Was fine to do one week, but it seems like we are wearing hot pink gloves and shoes all season, which really detracts from the classic black/gold.

You are welcome here, and for the most part, that was a fair analysis. I disagree on the uniforms call though.
And I also agree that all teams get bad calls. Game-changing ones which will likely affect playoff status are different. It could well be that the Steelers have had a game-ending bad call that affected their entire season in a highly competitive division in the past few years, but I don't remember hearing about one.

Why does Boik, prefer our beloved Miami Dolphins to wear pink uniforms? What is his agenda? What is he trying to say?

IMHO, it means Boik hates the Dolphins and loves men in pink.

    Neither are we.....

this is what I have been saying all along, they lack an identity.....Miami's problem is that they arent bad enough to get blown out, but arent good enough to blow anybody out...so it is always a close game....however to win games like that you need savy, experience, and you need to be able to execute plays when needed most...Miami doesnt do that yet...

This is BS bro....it isnt bush league, it is no different than when in the old Meadowlands, they used to open up the garage doors for the wind going into the teams face, and switch it every qtr....

the Steelers didnt feed off it, they barely survived it, and needed blown call in doing so...Harrison looked ragged out and tired by the 3rd qtr...I would to going up against Long all day...thing is that was their plan to get them tired, keep it close, and take it in the 4th qtr.....problem was in the 4th qtr when Miami was starting to run the ball, they passed, and when they should have passed, they ran....they screwed up their own plan...

Great point except for number 4. Miami has ALWAYS worn whites at home games that aren't primetime. Its been that way as long as I can remember. It has nothing to do with the coach.

I regret that I even mentioned the uniform thing; wasn't meant to be a main point. The Bucs did it, too, but they weren't a tough/physical team like the Phins. The main point was more that you guys seemed to be coached like you are a scrappy underdog, but in reality you have legit talent.

    Not true.

The ref watching the line to BR's back put up his hands but there was an obvious fumble. The Ref, who is from right outside of Pittsburgh, even explained that solid proof of recovery would have resulted in a change of possession. The pictures show a Miami player with the ball coming out of the pile.

That ref not only screwed up, but he screwed Miami over.

It's fair to say that Pitt could have gotten the ball back if Miami faltered, and it's fair to say that Miami put themselves in a bad spot by not scoring at least one TD out of five FG's but in the end. We got hosed. Point blank!

However, the above quote is not as amazingly gay as having your staff holding makeshift awnings over your tough guys on the bench:yes:.

We have long worn all white for day home games. We wear Aqua jerseys and white pants for home night games, except for the few times we wear Orange jerseys. Since most teams do not wear their white jerseys at home, only the Cowboys I think also do it, we also wear white on the road but with aqua pants. I guess if we play at Dallas, we will wear Aqua and white, same as for home night games. Though maybe we will break out the all Aqua look again.

We’re annoyed with it too. There’s a debate here as to whether the problem is Dan Henning’s playcalling and wishing that Chad Pennington was our quarterback, Chad Henne’s execution, something with Tony Sparano, or maybe all of the above.

It’s mystifying, and our beat writers are no help in uncovering this mess. They’re locked out and display zero drive or desire to get at the facts. They just accept whatever they’re told by Sparano in press conferences, sometimes even refusing to ask an important question for fear of “the glare”. Universally, they prefer to just guess and speculate in their talk radio appearances, blog articles, and podcasts. Sometimes they even go so far as to insult the fans for not knowing football, as if that’s in any way relevant to the conduct of the team and their job of reporting.

We fans feel like we should be 5-1 right now.

This is by far the most civil thing I can say at this time, but I do have a question:
This is the second time Raplisburger has CLEARLY not scored, yet called a TD.

There are numerous threads about our overly conservative offense playcalling which I dont think many Dolphin fans will dispute was much too conservative and has been that way much of the year. Henning has moments of genius (like 2008 he was very good) I think and then moments of stupidity (much of this year). I think/hope we will be looking for a new OC this offseason.

Good stuff dude...hope you know I was only joking

Yeah but rumor has it that when you get too excited your inability to detail offensive line play is not as good. And I for one would much rather you read your opinion about our line! The rest of this stuff goes in the Ladies Lounge :hi5:

You definitely gave us some good insight. We've all kinda knew it, but it's good to hear it put so straightforward from someone who's not a homer.

I think your dead on and couldn't have said it better myself.

You guys are far and away the toughest team we've played. I don't think it would have been that close if Woodley and Smith weren't out.

Will you please tell Hines Ward he's too old to keep playing.:pointlol:

Honestly, I think not many QB's try to make that type of play, and when it does happen, it's hard to call and refs miss it a lot. I just can't remember seeing too many similar plays with a QB diving for the endzone anywhere other than the corner pileon.

I think he actually broke the plane in the other play (I assume you are referring to the Super Bowl). This one he clearly didn't make it.

ya know what... that comment is just ridiculous. For the entire history of football teams have done anything to gain an advantage. From turning off hot water in showers in cold weather stadiums, to wearing certain uniform color combinations in heat. Its gone on for ever. Don't even try to say it hasnt. To say it hasnt is not only absurd and ridiculous, its ignorant as well. Especially the way you choose to word it. You entire post, and introduction to this site goes out the window with this. I wish you'd have said that first, then I would have saved myself the time in reading the rest of that. It's got nothing to do with tricks and luck, its using your climate, as part of your home field advantage. Get a grip.

Woodley's injury didn't hurt that bad. Worldis (2nd round pick this year) came in played pretty well. He was the one who pressured Henne on your last offensive play of the game.

Smith's injury (and he's gone for the season) is a killer. We were already missing our other starting DE, and Smith is the most underrated defender on the Steelers' D. We were simply running out of bodies on the DL by the end of the game, and both of our starters were gone.

My opinion in a nutshell: Smiley/Grove/Thomas > Incognito/Berger/McQuistian as an overall run blocking interior, and just the reverse in pass blocking.
Jake is Jake, best OLT last year and this year. Vernon is most people's favorite whipping boy, but he is a superb run blocker who has not missed a start since 10/16 2005. He plays through a lot of dings and nicks that would likely keep lesser men on the sidelines. That makes him a tough SOB in my book. Jon Giesler was tough like that.
