I missed last week, sue me. ESPN picks Miami 7-3. Allen, Hoge, and Jaworski take the Bengals. Everyone else, Accuscore, and the popular poll takes us. (Link doesn’t work for some reason.) Peter King takes us: CBS takes us 3-2. Prisco and Judge take the Bengals. SportingNews takes us: FanHouse takes us with no commentary. CHFF picks us… barely. We’re favored. Be afraid.
Cool sig pic! I want to steal it, but I won't. It's sad to hear someone say that this game has no bearing on the AFC playoff picture and we're only in week 8....I guess they forgot that there's still a lot of football left to play!
Thanks. Go to the picture request forum and you can get your own. It’s sad, but not because they’re disregarding the second half of the season, but because we’re pretty far behind in the AFC standings. CHFF was on the “Miami can’t score touchdowns” train two weeks before the beat writers and the forum. If you can’t score points, you aren’t going to the playoffs. Also, if the playoffs were held tomorrow, Pittsburgh and New England would be the Wild Cards. Vegas has the Bengals −1.5. Home teams get a 3 point advantage in the spread. That means Vegas thinks we’re going to win by 1.5 points.
The Dolphins under Henning and Sparano will never outright crush an opponent. When we get a lead, we sit on it; we never try to extend it.
I know the trend is the Phins will play it close but I smell a blowout. 1 defensive TD, Ricky breaks 100+, 2 Henne touchdowns (one for 35+ yards), 1 rushing TD BY Polite. So it is written so it will be.
Don’t be surprised if we have to have another last-second goal line stand to win this game. Our defense gives up a lot of points in the 4th quarter (again…) and the Bengals score most of their points in the 4th quarter. This could be another Saints game. Of course, Carson Palmer sucks, but still.
No bearing on anything in the playoff picture? I think that's slightly premature. It's good to see some good media hating out there. I thought since we've scrapped the wildcat Prisco might warm up to us a little more. I guess not.
I know that wasn't Prisco. The Prisco comment was separate from the one above it. I know Prisco picked against us. That's all I was commenting on from him.
Which IMO, is why we're going 9-7. Every game we play comes down to the wire, and with our roster we can't afford that. We don't have Peyton or Brady to depend on for a late TD drive, we don't have a lock down D to rely on for a key stop, and despite clutch FG kicking, our ST is more liability than an asset. We're a team that plays lots of close games but is ill equipped to win them. We could easily be 5-1, but we could easily be 1-5, even the Bills were one drive away from beating us. I like our chances vs Cincy though, they have all of our problems, and more.
I agree we should be much more aggressive. I'm tired of watching coaching and playcalling that I would have expected to see with the 2008 team. This team should be better than that.
This team as a whole is definitely overcoached. The excessive micromanagement and especially the emphasis on plays that are designed to get a certain amount of yards has no place on a team this talented. When Sparano talks about how they call reverses and consider them successful when they go for 4 yards is just absurd: they’re paying Brandon Marshall $40 million to sweep the ball 4 yards on the ground? Really? The Miami Dolphins aren’t the Detroit Lions and shouldn’t have to be coached that way. This team underachieves because it’s not put in a position to win, it’s put in a position to not lose.
