Moss Update Concerning Dolphins***Revisited 11/3*** 9:55 pm 11/2: 1:27 am 11/3: http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=1655
Im really torn on this one. I think he could be a great addition here, if he plays hard. Marshall, Moss, Bess. That's almost unstoppable. Problem is, what Randy wants is some "longterm" security by way of a contract. Thinking that, I don't see Randy wanting to be here. I honestly think if he's claimed on waivers, its well before our slot. If he hits free agency, he goes back to the Pats in another orchestrated move by them.
See here is where I disagree.... I think Randy Moss would want to be part of this organization. Randy seems to respond when he is with a quality program....I think because we have a bunch of football heads here....he would respond well. Its a new challenge to him... Dont discount the impact Chad Pennington is gonna have on him. Not so much because Chad is gonna be his QB...but Chad's views on our program will have some meaning to Moss.
Exactly.....I cant understand why more people dont see this just as clearly as you just stated it. Its dead on. THERE IS NO RISK TO GETTING RANDY MOSS. If he becomes a cancer, he isnt here long enough to make a difference. You dont have the oppurtunity like this very often...gettting a Moss talent for just his salary....in the middle of the season.
Put in the waiver and sign him to a 3yr deal with conditions. Just him being on the field changes the entire offense.
Think of it this way: we are pretty close to the patriots and jets right now. The possibility of him joining one of them scares me that the gap becomes too wide. Worst case scenario if he misbehaves, put him on the inactive list
Well, Armando can say anything and it doesn't particularly matter, so what if he is wrong? The story goes Moss wanted to stay behind in MA after the Vikings loss to "be with his family" meaning he did not fly back on the Vikes chartered plane, add in ripping the Vikings and you can see why he was released. However, he also has a home in Boca, so tonight let's see if he is at the Heat game imo that is more of indication of Moss's intentions than anything Salguero can speculate.
I'm with brandon, I'm completely torn on this. You can't deny what he brings to the table, and he would open up our offense even more. On the other hand, well, you guys already know.
I think its worth the risk. My only worry is that Henning would continue to be conservative and then we'd have not one but two Porches we use to get groceries.
I hope you aren't acting like Brandon Marshall isn't being under-utilized, because that's really ridiculous.
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/11/02/some-vikings-players-on-board-with-dumping-moss/ I was 80% for the move BEFORE I read that. Now I could care less, and wouldn't be pissed if we didn't even put a claim in for him. How sick and disgusting. Arrogrant prick.
The Patriots got rid of Moss despite not having anything resembling a replacement. The desperate for WR help Vikes dumped him less than a month after trading a 3rd round pick, and not having anything resembling a replacement. That tells me all I need to know & I wouldn't touch the guy with a ten foot poll, unless I was playing Madden.
sick and disgusting? this isnt michael vick....he just didnt like food and made it be known. lets not forget, these guys are football players, but they are also millionaire wealthy people. Most very rich people are snotty, especially after having money for awhile. it changes people. its a dick move....but "sick and disgusting" ? you act like he raped someone
Eh, probably a tad strong I agree. Not a fan of such personality traits. Maybe that's why I'm not rich?
Randy Moss is a prick, but it's hard to get too judgmental with Brandon Marshall on the team. Moss don't beat his girlfriend like it's his favorite hobby.
Yea, just a pet peeve of mine so it struck a nerve. Always was taught to appreciate everything you have.
It's the way we use him. Again, you can use a Porche to get groceries, but that's kind of a waste. I'd like to see us throw deep to him more. He's a guy capable of explosive plays, yet he's had very few. I'm not sure what his YAC is, but I'm willing to guess it's lower here than in Denver.
ya they said during the game sunday, his YAC is like 62nd in the league or some ****. and hes pissed off about it
That's the system, and Dan Henning IMO. Maybe Henne gets some blame as well, as YAC can be directly tied to where a QB puts the ball, but it seems like we've been a horrible YAC team even with Pennington was QB. So I'm not sure how much of that is on the players.
It's not. He's on pace for his career year, with better YPC than any of his 1000+ yard seasons other than his first, and that's off by 0.5 yards. He's being used quite a bit more aggressively down field than he was in Denver, to boot. He played in a West Coast Offense under Shanahan, and he was used basically in Wes Welker's role under McDaniels.
No slants ...lots of outs and curls...screens that go to Hartline instead of Marshall... I agree with you, he's being used, but not to his strengths.

Again, he's on pace for the best season of his career. It's really difficult to see how he's doing that while being somehow misused.
I was just talking about his YAC, not that he isn't being used. His strength is his ability to break tackles and gain yards after contact. Pinning him on the sideline and running dig routes between 3 defenders, while it does get him the ball, doesn't give him the best chance to do what he excels at.
Well, he's not on pace for his best season TD wise, and think that's what frustrates both the fans and Marshall.
but he could be having an even better year......thats what is scary, and thats the difference between us scoring tds and fgs
Why does what the proportion of his production coming after the catch matter the slightest bit? Receiving yards don't count any more if they come after or before the catch. It's not as if what he's doing on the field is suffering because he's doing it further down the field.
Why do you act like I'm disagreeing with you? I'm not. I'm just saying that there could also be other ways to utilize his strengths.
IMO, you can never have enough quality players and Moss is just that... You have to take a look at him.
you can get where you need to go in 1st gear......but you can get there more efficently and effectivly in 3rd or 4th gear. i guess what we are saying is, marshall has the #'s, but he (if used more to his strengths) could get even bigger/better numbers more effectivley. and more tds
If Moss clears waivers, I would sign him as a FA, if he clearly WANTS to play here, what a tandem we could have in him and Marshall with Bess in the slot. There are a LOT of NFL players I would not let into my home or introduce to my daughter, but would love to have them on our team. (And don't even think of saying I'm being racial here, has nothing to do with my statements.)
That's a perfect explanation to my feelings to the whole situation at this point (minus the love part..more of a like).
