Eh, it's Friday, good weekend of football with two rivals on the road: Patriots go to Cleveland Jets travel to Detroit Either one a possible upset special? If so, why? For me, I think the Browns game is a trap for the Patriots, here is why: Rob Ryan has the defense playing really well, and really physical, the game will be outdoors in somewhat unfavorable weather, if the Browns D neutralizes the Patriots Offense the Browns offense is getting Peyton Hillis back for this game, if this game turns into a slug fest the Browns could pull it out. Jets travel to Detroit For whatever reason, Lions Coach Schwartz was duking it out in the media with Rexxy, but the difference is, this yr's lions team already has 23 sacks, and Calvin Johnson is rolling well right now, and Javhid Best is returning to the lineup. Thoughts? The one real downside to the Browns v Pats is pass defense, the Browns are ranked #26 overall, but this is no longer the Spread Offense patriots. http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-network-playbook/09000d5d81bdc4c8/Playbook-Can-Browns-stop-Brady
I think the Lions have a better chance of pulling off the upset. The Jets pass D is still a little suspect to the passing game, and the Lions have been scoring points in bunches at home. I don't think Revis is what he was last year, and Johnson's a beast. Couple that with their pass rush. If they can get Dirty to start having happy feet he'll chuck a couple to the blue jerseys and they can get the upset.
The Lions are better then the Browns. I think the Lions finish 2nd place in the NFC North, and if things go right they could get a Wild Card next year. Should have already beat the Bears in Chicago. The only game they got blown out in was in Minnesota. Lions can hang with anyone, and we should finally get a good Thanksgiving game with them, hopefully upsetting the Patriots.[They might have momentum too playing the Bills and Chokeboys before the Pats]. I think they can beat the Jets.
True, but upset predictions that pan out I've found come more from the gut than the head, I think Rob Ryan will have Brady dialed in for this game as he is a mirror image of Rex Ryan, a proud dude. Ryan had the D ready to pounce all over the Saints in NOLA and they worked the Saints and Brees and I just suspect they will do the same to the Patriots. Not two int's for TD's, but they will put some hits on Brady early which is the formula for beating the Pats, and I'm not sold on the Pats Defense as Alex Mack the Browns center has quietly developed into one of the best in the NFL so he can handle Wilfork, which is also the key to running on that Defense. Idk if Cribbs will be back, if he is, they can run everything from a WC to being a threat on every kick return attempt.
Detroit because they have some talent at some important spots QB WR RB DL ...Megatron is healthy and Suh is for real and blowing up some decent OLs. I dont think Cleveland can do it with just Hillis and Colt Mccoy is going to have some issues this week imo.
If Cribbs and Hillis are healthy they can run the ball with power on the Patriots. Lions problem is their secondary is a quilt with some pieces that are not very good at all and I suspect the Jets Oline will win more battles than it loses which means Nacho will have time to pick apart the D.
Detroit for sure. Once the weather drops below 50 Sanchez has to wear his pink snuggie under his uniform and it starts to mess with his throwing motions. I think the Browns game is decided by a FG, but unfortunately it will be Brady and the Patriots that pull it out.
Does Ford Field have a retractable roof? They'd be smart to open it if so. Or is it one of those ones where the side windows open up?
If you can call him that, Mangini was supposed to be a defensive guru but Rob Ryan runs the defense in Cleveland, so he more or less is there as a place holder.
Stafford has looked like the real deal and Megatron can erupt at anytime. The Jets D has not been the same at all this year. Jahvid Best could also have a good game. Kyle Vanden Bosch and Cliff Avril are the contrasting style players that give OL's fits, even good ones like the Jets. The NDominator has to continue playing really good.
Bears have enough offense and enough defense with balance that they will give the bills a headache imo.
Pats @ Browns- I really believe the Browns defense can hold the Pats to around 20 points, problem is Bellichek vs. Colt Mccoy. The X factor is Josh Cribbs, his return skills can keep this game interesting. Jets @ Lions- Detroit has a nice young core of defenders from Suh to Levy to Delmas couple that with the scariest WR in football and an emerging TE in Pettigrew and I can see the Lions getting it done at home. Bears @ Bills- Jay Cutler has the rare ability to keep ANY team at ANY time in the ball game, but he can also torch you...thats why the Bears are the single hardest team to guage in the NFL imo.
I love the Lions chances. I think the Jets are still trying to figure themselves out and not as good as they think they are. I think the Lions can score on them, and make a few plays on D, and ride the home crowd to a W. I don't like the Browns chances. Mangenious doesn't fly under Bellichick's radar. His team rarely falls for the trap game. The Pats usually handle their business against lesser teams. And their defense is playing pretty well right now. Unless the Browns get some serious breaks, I just don't see it happening.
Interesting, if Colt McCoy starts the Pats secondary will be weaker than it normally is that should help him out.
As a karate expert, i think the pats will win, but i have an sneaky suspicion that the jets will lose by a field goal....
Lions > Jets Pats > Browns Bills > Bears I think the Bills do it today and the Lions are pretty tough. Im not going to count them out.
Most disgusting thing about watching the Jets game was hearing the announcers basically giving Sanchez a ball rub. On the tying drive, he completes like three dumpoffs to Tomlinson, one 9 yard pass to Keller, and a couple of runs aided by a late hit out of bounds, and the announcers say "Mark Sanchez....MARCHING the Jets down the field."
Well Fellas, for those who said: "The Jets have a much better chance of losing than the Pastriots, the Pasties always take care of.." Some folks owe me some Rep pts... Told ya, the Brownies were primed for that game, Rob Ryan with two weeks to dial in Brady, the Brownies offense getting peyton hillis back..you could see it coming. Thought the Lions pass defense was just to crappy to deal with the Jests passing game, 4 stud dlinemen and 2 castoffs in the secondary makes for a bloodbath,
Great ****ing win. Unbelievable. Mark Sanchez was calm the entire time. He could have went deep but was smart enough to give it to LT and Greene. I ****ing live Sanchez. I wouldn't trade that guy for the world. Darrelle Revis SHUT DOWN Calvin Johnson. GOtta give him major props. 1 Reception - 13 Yards! On top of all that, Dolphins & Pats both lose! Great week it's gonna be.
You got it handed to you it had nothing to do with Sanchez's "calm". The Lions crapped all over themselves with clock management. Peterson took a ridiculous penalty. Admit you got a gift and move on instead of being a Jets fan about it.
He played a well when it counted. He wasn't great, but he hung in there. The last pass to Holmes was a horrible snap that he reigned it, set and fired a strike. Did he win the game? No. But this in not the week to bash him.
Gus Johnson shows a **** load of emotion in every game he does...so it's not surprising he was on Sanchez's jock.
