Don't tell that to the impatient fans who don't want to wait for development and would rather pace around waiting for Dan Marino to walk through the door.

I'm not ready to bury Henne (although I do have my concerns), but its tough to take any article from the Dolphins official website at face value. What are they supposed to say:

'the Coaching staff appears to be losing confidence in Henne's ability. That said, there's still tickets available for Randy Moss' debut in a Titans uniform next Sunday at Sun Life Stadium.'

    Simply put, that's bad business.

At some point, there needs to stop being "throws you'd like back" every game.

He's got to start making these plays and making them now.

Althogh his play has not been great, alot of it is a group effort.Droped passes, bad bounces and at times giving the defence gifts.
I feel we should stick with him in the long run. This year may be over but if we bail on him now somehow it will come back to bite us.

all of those quotes are all well and good but its the same quotes we get after one of these games. henne is absolutely awful in the redzone and that is really the rz problems not playcalling.

Shall I post the youtube of Penny hitting DMart on a 68 td pass and catch?

Beautiful throw, over the shoulder, in stride, never have seen pennington throw anything like that since the MNF game in Sept 09 to Ginn.

I haven't given up on Henne completely but i'm getting real close. The problem I see is no matter much he improves in decision making and delivering the ball, he is never going to move well in the pocket. His quickness and footwork around the pocket is atrocious. Dan may have been slow, but he was a master in the pocket. He bought himself time with awareness and feel. Henne has neither I'm afraid.

Henne hitting Ted Ginn for a 57 yard td?

Henne hitting Hartline for a 67 yarder?

We can all pick throws we like.

Yup..... that "point" is when he's fully developed and is considered a veteran. He's not a veteran so stop asking him to perform like one.

In the past 30 years have you watched any QBs here not named Marino <the aberration> go through the REAL developmental process? No, you haven't, so get off Henne's sack.

If you want a top QB, then you need to develop him b/c they don't just grow on trees for our taking. Good luck finding a team who will readily hand over a top 10 QB just b/c we want one this year. :wink2:

Named the Ginn one, do you really want to reference the Hartline play?

Recall, the Titans safety went up and snatches the ball, Henne threw it right to him, Hartline snatched the ball out of his arms.

    You need some better examples..oh wait..there aren't any...

In fairness to Henne, despite his "capt cool" exterior, dude was clearly troubled during his live segment today on the Finsiders, first time I'd ever heard that sort of tremor in his voice.

Wish the kid well, seriously, he is as conscientous a young Qb as we are likely to see and I hope he turns it around this Sunday as he is a fine young man..for real NJ.

He has his shot, I truly do hope he makes it happen.

I'm not going to bash him anymore, or call for his benching, he does not deserve to have one more voice slamming him.

True the guy seems to have the makings of a special player if he keeps it up. Regardless it means nothing to the development of Henne and whether he will end up being a consistently talented QB. Absolutely nothing.

If Bradford does play at a high level from day 1 he'll end up in that special class of top QB's. A club mind you that also has a number of QB's who took time to develop at the NFL level.

The point of Bradford means nothing.

Bradford isn't playing that much better than Henne did in his first year starting. Aside from that, there is a reason Bradford was #1, and Henne was like the 4th to last pick in rd 2. If people didn't think Henne needed a good bit of work before he'd become successful (assuming in this case that he will) he wouldn't have lasted as long as he did.

He has poor mobility and not great pocket awareness.

BUT I have seen that improve a bit. I must say, he is more aware of pressure and slides a bit better recently. He even scrambles a bit. It's ugly, but he does it. I wish he's scramble a little more effectively, not for a one yard gain, but one step at a time, you know.

Yea, because the Rams were oh so willing to part with the #1 pick. And of course since our QB problem isn't solved with any amount of certainty it means we are content with mediocrity.

OK. I'm listening to everyone comments. They all make sense and all have value. Now I would like to comment. Chad Henne is 24 years old and he is in his 3rd year in the NFL. I'm sure everyone knows this information. I want to focus on the fact that he has played only 21 games (excluding preseason games). That is the equivalent of playing 1.5 seasons in the NFL. If you remember, Chad Henne was supposed to start his rookie year in 2008 but Chad Pennington fell into our lap and Henne was given a clipboard. He didn't officially start his "rookie" year until Pennington went down early in the season. The point I'm making is that he is still young and and still making mistakes. As a fan, I don't like the mistakes he is making but I think he is doing a reasonably good job despite the pressure he has to learn quickly and perform at a high level. I believe he will be great for us soon. I just don't think it will be that soon. I believe he is on the right track even if I am the only one to agree withat statement.

As usual I thank you in advance for any comments for or against my post. I respect all you have to say:up:

And Ryan didn't play any better in his 2nd year last season than Henne is this year.... and Matty could've been a #1 pick. Ryan would've sat behind Penny in 08 just as Henne did..... so this would've been his 2nd year starting if he were in Miami..... so in reality he'd be performing about the same as Henne is now.

But we'd be calling for Ryan's head, so we'd never get to see him develop into the stud that he's emerging into right now.

Not to mention this year he's been faced with throwing against a Cover 2, so it's not like he can miraculously understand it w/o making mistakes and learning from them as he's been doing since day one. I really don't see him making a lot of the same mistakes, but my eyes could be deceiving me.

Now hold on fellas, for those pointing to Bradford's performance.

Show me who he has played?

We forget that Henne has traversed a minefield of Top 15 defenses and it will only slightly ease up as we are playing a schedule as tough, maybe tougher, than the Saints have played.

Henne has not had pattycake games against the Seachickens and Cardinals to feast on, we opened with the Bills and he had what..15 passes?

Give him some credit and acknowledge how damn tough this season has been and it does not get very much easier:

Titans: #2 in the AFC South, maybe #1
    Bears: #2 in the NFCN
    Oakland #2 in the AFCW
Cleveland#3 in the NFCN possible easier game
    Jets #1 AFCE
    Buffalo duck
Detriot Semi Duck this is a hugely talented team
New England in NE in January

This crap doesn't end any time soon.

man i just seen 2 qb's go toe to toe battling throwing deep letting his receivers make plays....hmmm wish our qb would give marshal a chance to make a play...i seen more balls thrown down field in one game than the dolphins have ALL YEAR....weather its henning or henne throw the ****in ball down field... and dont tell me (other than wallace) that those receivers are that much faster than marshal...and I gaurentee marshal is more physical than any of them

And we're also gonna fire your spelling coach in the process. :shifty:

I doubt there's a coach in the league who wouldn't look forward to finishing Henne's development into a stud AND giving him the proper resources for such rather than digging through has-been or never-will-be veterans with the hopes of rekindling a career that might have flashed promise 8 years in the past. If you think it's effective to try and polish turd after turd hoping to get a shiny one like we did for years after Marino, then let me know and I'll send a box of em over to ya. :chuckle:

Oh yeah? and hows long dem QBs been playin da game?

Are you serious? Other than Wallace? As if Wallace doesn't count? hahaha. Wallace is one of the fastest cats in the league. He runs a 4.2. Mike runs faster than Marshall..... backwards..... in cowboy boots..... and uphill. TO and Ocho would also blaze Brandon b/c Brandon lacks a true 2nd gear. They don't. They've made a living catching the deep ball. Both of those teams also have TEs who are a threat catching the ball.... and they have more experienced receivers. Physical? Who cares? It means little when he's draped in coverage and has little chance to use his physicalness. You have a hard time convincing people that Hines and TO aren't physical.

    Face, meet my palm.

Some of the comments on here are so funny I LOL and woke up the wife.:lol::lol:

    I agree with Maynard.

Its a PR piece thats all. I never read anything (even in the offseason), unless its about a pick up of a high profile player, when I know its PR blah blah blah.

Overall, everyone should know my 2 cents already on Henne.

He's the 2010 version of Jay Fiedler AKA an Average QB.

HOWEVER, he's growing and come 2011 hopefully he will be beyond that.

How he responds against the Titans will tell us a lot. If he's shaken like Padre thinks he is then GOOD.

Thats GREAT. I want him shaken. I want him to know this isn't college or some pansy league.

You need to develop mental toughness and be strong. Be a LEADER.

I hope he comes out of the gates against the Titans wanting to prove to the world that he is a man you dont want to F with and we get that W at home.
