by valve? Im not sure what its for, maybe for computer? http://www.gametrailers.com/player/usermovies/305021.html
It's "Goldeneye Source", a mod created by Valve using the Source Engine. You will need to own Half Life 2 to run it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goldeneye_source Looks like they just entered Beta 3.
yeah, an actual Golden Eye remake (by Rare) is one of those rumors like an FF7 remake for PS3... It just won't go away. It'd be awesome, but just not happening.
Yeah but at least Rare didn't make a tech demo showing off how [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=thsnDqQu0mQ"]truly awesome it would be[/ame] if they did.
it would almost be natural for them to do so... in all of their creativity, the only games they've released worth a damn lately have been remakes of proven classics.
Valve didn't create this mod. Valve created the Source Engine, which the group is using to build this mod. It's been in the works for years. Valve is busy not releasing Half-Life 2 Episode 3.
So anyone get this? I wasn't likely to get it anyway, but in the commercial I saw, the game looked atrocious (graphically). Even for a Wii game.
It always looked atrocious. I think that’s intentional, as part of some sort of bizarre throwback/retro appeal the game is supposed to have.
I would NEVER get a FPS for ANY console. Why? Because I would never eat filet mignon with a knife and fork made out of poop.
Goldeneye64 was special because of it's innovation, setting the bar extremely high for console FPS back in both single and multi-play. Whether it be the AI, hitbox detection, the vast array of modes/optional changes in multiplayer, or even the ambient music....I honestly cant even think of a modern shooter that would be the equivalent when it comes to innovating a genre. I was a PC gamer myself, but to be honest there is nothing comparable to the frenetic 4 player matches me and my buddies would get into on the couch. I get frustrated when people try to suggest its all nostalgia. 007 on the 64 was truly ground breaking in a multitude of ways, and I am sincerely skeptical that this "remake" can even hold a candle to its predecessor.
Well said. Between Goldeneye and the AKI WCW and WWF wrestling games on the N64 I spent hours and hours playing whem with friends. I miss those days. I am thinking about at least renting this game to see how it is. Part of me wants to buy it just because but the other part of me just says to dust off the N64 and play that instead.
When did you play the N64 version last? I tried within the past year, and found it to be almost unplayable.
Im curious if you were using the default control style. Which IMO, was pretty much "unplayable" even back when the game was new. It was usually the tell-tale sign of knowing whether or not someone you randomly talked to about G64 was any good or not before even seeing them play. The "Honey" default controls would get anyone absolutely destroyed playing with any of my friends and I couldnt even imagine trying to enjoy single-player with it either. Dont forget either, the single joystick is a big difference compared to the dual stick controllers we are used to in the modern era. Utilizing the single stick & all of the face buttons isnt anywhere near as intuitive as the current gen controllers. I think most games on that system would suffer from trying to play after so many years of modern controls. The game also didnt even have crosshairs unless you were standing still holding the button to bring it up. This is a huge difference when trying to hold the game up to "modern standards"....
Probably a year ago. I'm not very big into FPS though so I probably wouldn't mind the old school controls or graphics. The only games I play now are MLB The Show, Rock Band series and Batman: AA.
