am i the only one? i did myspace for a while. got bored. when myspace was being deserted for facebook, i just never switched over

i was immediately turned off by a place that wouldnt let me look around without signing up. it just doesnt sit right with me. now there all this stuff about privacy concerns on facebook, so i guess im avoiding that

twitter. not that i just dont get. i suppose i should want to know what celebrities, friends and news reporters are saying, thinking and finding out, but i have other ways

when i want to hear from friends, i just talk to them or text them. i get news over the web and this site is a huge resource, so i guess im a forum rat

am i the only one that doesnt use either?

I quit facebook a few months ago. People treat you like you're dead. They act like there's no way to communicate with you now. Losers.

I have a FB account but I never signed in after the first time I created an account. I also have two twitter accounts but the only friends I have are each other. I use to twit on one during phins game, was actually kinda of fun re-reading what I twitted during games, but I stopped after awhile.

I use to get grief from friends about not joining FB & adding them as friends, but they stopped after they got the hint. I use to enjoy the early social networking sites (Asian Ave during my mid 20's & friendster during my late 20's/early 30's) but it got old as did I. It was a great way to meet chicks back then.

i dont use twitter. I have facebook from when I was in college (EVERYONE had one) and I still occasionally use it to keep track of my buddies from college. Granted, I still talk to the ones who I care to even without it, but it's a nice way to see pictures of people and what they're up to.
I think I've updated my profile once in the past few years and rarely if ever 'post' anything. It's just another tool to stay in touch with people. It is sad though how many people seem to be addicted to it.

I have both but only use facebook so I had some idea what my family is up to as they live in New Zealand and are incapable of sending updates.

Twitter is great for NFL news, especially as I don't have a PC at work now and I can access via my phone.

I understand why some don't want Facebook... it can be a hassle and it's possible you can reveal information you don't want revealed if you don't know what you're doing. However I also don't understand why it has such a bad reputation to some people.

For me, I use Facebook because I'm a college student and for networking... It's nice to be able to easily contact someone that graduated two or three years ago if I have a question concerning something really random. That's just me though.

Twitter is a great resource for news. All the beat writers, national reporters, etc. break news, update who's on the radio right now, etc. via their Twitter accounts. I basically use it for that, following players, speaking to them directly on occasion, etc. Truly indispensable if you can get past all the "I JUST CRUSHED SUM SUSHI 4 REAL!" stuff.
OT: when the uprising/revolt was going on in Iran over their rigged elections, Twitter and YouTube were basically the only way the Iranian people could communicate with the outside world. It was a FANTASTIC medium for news, etc. That's how the stories/videos of the brutality, etc. got out. All firsthand.

Facebook, you have to turn on the privacy stuff on yourself and make sure you keep tabs on it, as they're notorious for changing the rules on the fly and opening you up to public consumption.

I use FB every day. Mainly as a tool just to catch up with folks I haven't seen in a long time or haven't had the chance to meet up with. Twitter I don't use b/c hey, I don't do anything worth talking about. The only time I follow Twitter is ESPN's NFL Twitter. And that was only when we were in free agency b/c I was interested in who the Phins might go after.

I barely use FB unless it's to look up girls from high school that I wish I was a little nicer too back then (just kidding, ok half kidding).

I use Twitter all the time (though I never really 'tweet'). I think Twitter is beyond great getting breaking news especially during the draft, off season signing period and trade deadline stuff.

i'll second the twitter thing for news. i've never sent a tweet, but every day i get info from people i follow. for example, i follow dave chapelle, mike tyson, ira winderman, the ATI driver man, ricky williams etc.

these people all tweet often, and i like getting updates if it's about the heat, a new driver release, or a joke. sure you can get that news elsewhere, but it's all together on one page for you on twitter.

i have a facebok, but i'm not a big fan of it.

so is the phins.com :) i use it for about 80% of the dolphins news with md and the nfl making up the other 20%.

don't get me wrong it is very valuable for different groups of people,i just don't really fall into one of those groups.as far as twitter for up to date info..i really don't care that you had pork chops w/a nice apple sauce for dinner or that you lost your million dollar earring on the field.

this is the reason i believe shawn smith blew that interception because if you look closely the guy had pulled out his twitter to give the world a update on his firts pick 6 of his carreer.can't catch a ball while you are thinking about what to tweet.

I get on facebook like once a week. Usually to see if anyone posted a funny status/comment, or see if some friends I haven't talked to in a while have anything interesting going on.

Twitter I use to follow NFL and Dolphins news & writers (helps get links to articles). I don't really tweet myself.

I met my friend's sister when she was down here for Spring Break back in '94. We had a great connection, but she lived in Chicago and the long distance was too much. 16 years later, I reconnected with my friend on Facebook, and saw her on his friend's list. I added her about 9 months ago. We're still completely compatible and talk for hours on the phone every day, and I've been up to see her a few times.
To make a long story short, she's getting divorced and I'm moving to Chicago in January. So, I guess you could say I'm grateful for Facebook. It made it a lot easier to reconnect with people I'd missed.

Like Muck said, Twitter is an outstanding source for sports and news. I use Twitter and FaceBook differently though: on Twitter I only follow people I don't really know and on FaceBook, I am only friends with people I do know. Recently, I cut my FB page down to 150 friends, and yes, I really do have that many people with whom I have had past and current friendships with. I cut out the people who "friended" me via friend of a friend or high school people that I really didn't even remember.
I really like both social mediums, yet they're not for everyone.

Not a fan of facebook. Hard to support mediums that cater toward attention whores. Unfortunately I'm the only person in my entire circle of friends that isn't on Facebook, so I'm always "missing" everything.

Why can't anything be in person? We all live around each other, yet everything happens online

My folks are on facebook and i don't want them knowing what my friends and i are doing and saying, and not being friends with them isn't an option. That's reason enough for me to never use it
