What a "knee-jerk" dumb move by the dolphins....Why would they do this?

    1. The Dolphins have played toughest schedule in NFL and are 4-4

    2. Henne looks really good at times and not so good at times...thats what 2nd yr qbs do...ie..Sanchez, Ryan, Flacco...everyone

    3. Benching your "franchise" young qb...in middle of year? Basically saying we dont think you are good enough to lead us to promised land...Yeah I'm sure Henne isnt upset...

    4. Guess what every player, coach etc..will have to answer questions about for rest of week....ugghhhhh

    5. God forbid the Phins lose this week....then it will be an absolute mess down there....

    BAD MOVE!!!!!!!!!!

I agree.....this could very well be the worst move in a long time for our franchise. This kills Henne's confidence in the fact that if they ever do come back to him to start he won't be the same. This makes us look stupid....the other day I was telling my buddy that I love how we are like the only team that sticks with what we have declared our franchise QB, for better or worse. Most of the other teams pull QB's after a couple losses and flip flop back and forth. That just seems to me like it has got to hurt their development and confidence. I just don't get it, now this.........

What is going on? We have a coaching staff and front office that does not have a clue what it takes to build a winning franchise.

I said it before and I will say it again. Sparano is coaching SCARED NOW! He know his job is on the Line and he can not afford to let Henne cost him it. He decided to let Pennington who is a SMARTER quaterback than Henne take over.

If the offense gets a KICK and starts scoring in spades than Sparano may buy himself some time and have to trade/ acquire a new QB in the off season.

If Pennington fails as well and we dont make the playoffs Sparano is GONE along with a host of others.

Yes this is meant to say HEY you produce or you are gone. It Might be the wake up call henne needs but I doubt it. His Personality isn't what I care for. Lacking heart in the game I want to see a QB "CARE" about the game and control the offense. Marino, Young, Manning, Brees, All these types SHOW their frustration and desire to WIN and the players respond.

If this move kills Henne's confidence then he's not much of a competitor and it's good to find that out now.

For one, everyone has a tough schedule this year, you cant use that as an excuse, all people see at the end of the day are wins and losses. also, pennington was a pro bowl type player 2 years ago. henne never has been. chad pennington gives us the best chance to win this year. henne has a bright future but we need a veteran right now. and if henne's confidence is crippled by being benched, he doesnt have what it takes to be a starting qb in the nfl.

Call me a coward, but I think I'll watch how the team responds before I judge the decision.

Henne is not the first starter that has been benched. The team needed a spark and the change was made.

Its not the end of Henne. He will be back competing for a job next year.Maybe he will get some playing time during the rest of the season once/if we are eliminated from the playoffs.

If he loses confidence he doesnt deserve to be a starting QB IMO.

It's simply a smarter fit for this dink and dunk offense. All you really needed to see is Henne's incomplete pass to Fasano in the end zone. Pennington flat out makes those plays. Pennington also has way better touch and won't sail balls high through the receiver's hands. He's simply great at this type of scheme.

Here's the kicker, Pennington's never had the kind of protection the O-Line has afforded Henne this year. Should be really fun to watch as a Dolphin fan.

This coaching staff is gonna sleep with the fishes. It's turned into mutiny with everyone casting blame elsewhere. It started with ST and the revolving personnel every week before they got rid of the coach, and now that the squeeze is on the OC, he backs the bus over the QB and the HC is riding shotgun. At least Parcells was smart enough to get out before the cluster**** was plastered all over the front page. There's no way this **** plays out well for a young team. FUGGETABOUTIT.

The coaching staff is under fire and may very well be let go at the end of the year (at least the offensive coordinator), so this is basically a last ditch effort to save jobs. Its happened countless times in the NFL, I can't think of anytime it really worked successfully.

I know Miami is 4-4 right now and people are saying we could easily be 6-2 but we could also easily be 2-6 or win less for that matter.

    -Buffalo game was close
-Minnesota was 1 yard away from leading late in the 4th
-Green Bay was 1 less Cameron Wake sack from having a first down in overtime.
-Cincinnati was 20 yards away from tying the game on the last drive.

I think the decision on Henne was due to overall performance, Henne didnt necessarily lose any of those games, but he in no way took over and won any of those games.

They did put games away better with Pennington starting I don't doubt that.

Henne, 1st plus third to acquire Andrew Luck?

it has nothing to do with saving jobs, all to do with bringing in wins... which i think everyone wants. just so happens that wins will save his job.

It's not really about him saying, "Hey, I don't know if I can do this." You are taking a shallow path to thinking about this.

It is about the coaches not believing in him, not trusting what the coaches say, having your back and taking the leadership role that he has established and throw it out the window! He had Brandon calling him a potential pro-bowler. Now, Tony creates "doubt" in the teams mindset....is this the guy? Do we "buy in?" I AM SURE Henning would be thrown under the bus instead if you really could get someone to open up about the offense.

It creates doubt and a lack of buy in w/teammates. This very much could be the Head Coach having loyalty in the wrong person, the OC.

    Wish I disagreed.

Other thing is, they may have screwed up their approach to developing Henne. If Sparano's approach beat into Henne a fear of mistakes, a regimented rigid approach to always doing as he is told (what Omar described as always doing what he is supposed to on each play, making it easy for the defense to dictte to him which throw he'll make), and an unwillingness to take risks or improvise/make his own judgement call on where to throw... in short, not trusting his own intuition.

Did they take a robot and BEAT into it that it should be even MORE robotic and risk averse.

I think this staff's mentality made Henne's predisposition even worse.

now that is a valid criticism. i do think they should have somehow imprssed upon him to open it up earlier. this is a problem that was recognized in the offseason however (parcells comments about being frustrated by henne) so the question becomes is he incapable, is he playing scared, what is it that makes him too conservative even for henning? why isnt he attacking? its not henning or it would have been his *** and not henne's. They have to figure out the buttons to press to get inside henne's head and turn the lights on. Maybe we should ditch pennington. maybe pennington has too much influence. maybe we need a new qb coach who can get him to be more agressive or maybe they should just tell henne to go out there and have fun. maybe henne is wound too tightly

Yes I agree 100% a new owner who thought we were going to be a superbowl team has had to hope his team can even by some miracle sneek into the playoffs.
This regime is done if they don't go at least 10 -6 in my opinion.3 years you should at least be competing for a wildcard spot.I think they have a good shot with pennington going 10-6 than they do with henne.

    Sadly, you may be right.

And if that happens I may just start going to Charlotte. If nobody is going to run this thing with any kind of logic, I might as well get drunk on my tailgate after eating some hotdogs and hamburgers.

Maybe when I hit lotto I might take the private jet to Miami every other week.
