    + 1,000,000.

Andrew Miller traded for Red Sox LHP reliever Dustin Richardson.

The off-season is looking good thus far...Edwin retained, Perry Hilly returning, Marlins working on a deal with Uggla, and Andrew Miller is finally gone :woot:

Sorry Ray. Any background on Richardson? Seems like a Pinto.

With Perry Hill returning, we may finally see a good defense.

Yeah it was my best guess. Being able to lock Uggla should give us quite the offense

Here's a scouting report on Richardson:

    http://www.soxprospects.com/players/richardson-dustin.htm

I'm actually not upset over this trade to be honest with you. I view it as a win/win, lose/lose, Hermida for Hunter Jones Part 2 type deal. It's obvious Miller was never going to be good with Florida and most likely he's going to be more the same with the Sox but why not try right? Especially since all they're giving up is Richardson, who the Sox really soured on because of decreased velocity (his FB sits around 90-91 now) and him not being able to throw strikes. If it was someone that had a shot at being good then yeah I'd be mad. This I view as one of Theo's projects. Again I don't expect much if anything at all but nothing of value was given up.

If the teams/roles were reversed I bet you Marlin fans would feel the same way (much like last year when Hermida was dumped). I also understand that Marlin fans are probably glad he's gone and that they at least got something back for Miller, even if it might just be a mostly minor league pitcher back. Better than nothing right?

Seriously though, how funny is baseball? If I were to tell any Marlin fan back in 2006 or 2007 that Jeremy Hermida and Andrew Miller would be traded to Boston for Hunter Jones and Dustin Richardson I'd get laughed off the boards. I guess it's an important lesson about prospects and not always believing the hype.

Cameron Maybin traded to the San Diego Padres for relievers RHP Edward Mujica and RHP Ryan Webb.

Chris Coghlan is moving to CF.

I find it hard to believe that's their master plan. Epic fail if so.

Says right in the middle of the article that Coghlan will start work at CF as soon as his knee is healthy enough.

And yes, the Cabrera trade and every ramification thereof has been epic fail since day one.

I saw it, hopefully Uggla nets a CFer or they go with Bonifacio in CF/Cogz at 3rd. Cogz in CF would be laughably bad.

I'd say it's been epic fail since about 2009 when they hadn't contributed at all. The value was about as good as you could realistically get.

The Florida Marlins: wheeling and dealing to create new problems!

Epic Fail protocols were initiated the second the team decided to trade him.

Maybe one of the worst trades of all time in any sport.

Also, I love the trade. Ryan Webb is going to an animal.

There have been far worse. The value was about as good as you could expect. Like getting Longoria and David Price

It was such an extreme fail, though. I guess my expectations where too high, though. I was expecting Hanley Ramirez and Randy Johnson, lol.

Awful trades happen...when you're offered 2 top 10 prospects and some change for realistically 1 player, then you pull the trigger. Just ended up not working out.

I know. If they had panned out, we'd be sitting real nice right about now. At least the FO had the sense to cut their losses now instead of attempting to justify the trade. Picking up 2 legit bullpen arms and another semi-decent arm is huge. Of course, it goes out the window if Chris Coghlan is our opening day CFer. As someone mentioned on SFM, it makes the move of letting Cody Ross go even more of a head scratcher .

Exactly, though as Desides said, the fact that we had to trade a HOF talent like that, is the real fail. Miggy should have been Longoria'd. Hopefully they've learned their mistake and start the eval process with Stanton.

Florida can't be serious about Cogs in CF can they? I haven't looked at his defensive numbers but I'm pretty sure he was below average in LF. Putting him in CF would just be a mistake. But hey if they want a CFer I'll trade them Ellsbury and Jose Igelsias for Hanley Ramirez.... Ok I'm awake now.

My best guess is that they end up trading Uggla for a CFer.

We’re sending a great message to our young players: get really, really good and we’ll send you to a real MLB team. Performance incentives, baby.

Whatever, the Mets will still be in the Marlins' rear view mirror by the end of the season.

And I'd rather just given Ricky another 1 year deal and make him earn the contract next season.

It’s not enough we gave the Braves a manager. We need to give them a strong bat, too?

Yeah, Infante? really? I know he was very good last year but he's also 28 and it took him awhile to hit well at the MLB level. But I don't mind Dunn...just not Dunn and Infante.

Any deal for Infante and Dunn is just a way to clear money. Same old Marlins.
