No long blog needed here just give a few simple grades 1-10 / 10 of course being best. up to now.
Simple 3 grades -- no single player grades.
    What do you score?

    Offense
    (1) 4.0 (172 points scored little run game / the Lions have scored 215 and are ranked 30th)

    Defense
    (2) 8. (208 points allowed ST and Offense a big part of that/ best Green Bay 143 allowed)

    Special Team
    (3) 3 (to many blocked kicks and a Div loss on their shoulders)

    Summary:

a lot of money, hype and time spent on shuffling people around with little return for the money spent. The time should have been spent on developing an offensive identity instead of the continuous revolving door of the wavered and other teams 'has beens'. In the end the team resembles nothing of the team that took the division just two years ago. There are no pulling guards, unbalanced line, no effective wildcat and many, many interceptions and mistake. The overall exception was very high and the overall result is very low. My prediction for this season is 8 wins (at best, and someone in the coaching staff should be fired).

on a scale zero to ten:

    defense: 9.2
    special teams: 6.7

    Sparano: 4
    Henning: 6.5
    Nolan: 10
    Ireland: 9

The defense is better than last season. The rest of the team is not. Including the coaching. So overall they get a D.

QB...5.5...Henne not progressing enough as I thought he would, but steady and on par as last year is what i was looking for this year...Has a chance to show us something, could it be a cinderally story, has his moment right here, right now, to win over fans and ownership, and to secure his future for his family and his career as a miami dolphin.

    Oline..

10.. Jake Long, The premier left tackle in the game period.

4..vernon carey...I'am looking to upgreade the position.. stationary player with deficient athleticism. he's out gettin our QB'S hurt..turnstile recently

    6. Berger...held up better than I thought..stationary player with deficient athleticism.

6.John Jerry..needs too play all season, every damn snap..starting as a rook is impressive.

4 Incognito..staionary player with deficient athleticism.

2...backups..not only do we need starter upgrades, we need backup upgrades

    Running back's.

3..Ronnie Brown..iam so dissapointed in this player..ive been very wrong about his projection..Iam ready to move on, unless something in him happens clicks where he understands how to reach the level performance I know he has in him.

..Good backup running back..if ronnie goes ricky will follow...I wish the 2 would get into a fight..lol

    Dline.

    8.. Mcd...resign.

    8..Solai..resign

6..Langford...This man has to try to reach some level cause hes stuck on a mediorce one..

here's what I would like to see..Starks, Odrick, Solai as our starters, Mcd, Merling, and langford as our backups..

linebackers..7..Wake and Dansby iam very happy with, Misi as well...iam looking to ungrade crowder.

Secondary..7..VD..SS..CC..RJ...hmmmm..I get those 4 on the field as much as I can.

special teams 5...Iam not feelin Carroll...guy likes contact..lol

    Kickers..10..

lol can articulate to much, on some good pain meds.

    Thanks for saying it.
Remember when I was saying over and over that this defense would be better without JT and JP? I got drilled by the minute here. Everyone said this defense would go backwards with younger players. I repeatedly said things had to change and the LB's were horrible except for Wake who would get better if given the chance. Well I am glad you finally realize that I wasn't so wrong after all. There was a lot of heat in those discussions none of which I regret because after all we are better today than we were at that time on the defensive side of the football.
I'm glad you aren't the only one who noticed it.

    I don't get it either.
Henne is a complete bust whereas the jury is still out on Thigpen.
not fair to judge a player who has started only one game
playing w/o the semblance of an offensive line

ultimately, look to the up-coming draft for the solution @ QB
we go nowhere in this league w/o a Franchise QB
    meanwhile
give Tyler a break, he may have value as a legitimate backup or in the WildCat

need just a few pieces & two more years to make a run @ the BigEnchilada:
QB, Center, Guard, RB, TE & a Return Specialist
coupled with unloading Sparano & Henning, we should be set to contend in 1012
provided that we replace them with competent coaches

Obviously the D is better b/c they got rid of JT. I mean how could a team have a good team and make the playoffs with him on the roster... One thing our hated rival has done well is mix vets and youth. That is key in the NFL. They are in first place and we're in shambles. But hey at least the defense gets a couple more sacks. JT wouldn't have saved us. He really would have only provided depth but to suggest the defense is good BECAUSE they let him walk is false. Who is Wake's backup right now? Is he better than JT? You would try to argue the waterboy is better b/c you hate JT so much. My days of trying to understand why you and others instantly sided with Bill Parcells over a Dolphins hall of famer in 2008 are over. It's your decision to go with the Jersey legend over the previously career Dolphin. More power to you.

.........Which is a highly valid reason for you to favor the 1-11 Thiggy over the 12-10 Henne. :sidelol:

Thiggy would have to win roughly 13 straight games to equal Henne's winning %. I like the kid, but CMON now.

It might behoove you to follow your own advice, 23rd, b/c statements like "the only standard I have ever used..... winning" while showing a bias towards Thigpen just makes people go

    This team sucks, effin sucks.

We were supposed to be a playoff off team, but we will be lucky to finish the season at 6-10.

    Very disappointing

They are pretty good at pass blocking when healthy.

  26. SCall13

    SCall13 ThePhins QB

Offense: 5 (middle of the road) - Keep in mind that this grade is from top to bottom, meaning coaching and players (including the head coach who has the ability and right to over ride any calls and game plans). The Dolphins have been inconsistent on offense to say the least. They've shown flashed of what could be a great offense, only to piss us off with some of the most ridiculous calls at very inopportune times. This falls on the OC. Yes, Henne has been sporadic (but I sincerely believe that we haven't been exposed to Henne's potential as a result of play calling. We ARE (or should be) a run fist team. This coaching staff has chosen to run less frequently than last year in spite of our efficiency in that area last year. The play action isn't effective as a result of this - taking away our potential productivity from the play action. Never mind that we are robbing Ricky and Ronnie of much better numbers. (Yes, I dis say Ricky first because I think he is the back we have. RW is just more decisive, more elusive, at least as punishing, and has much better field vision and attacks the holes quicker -thereby taking ALL the pressure from the offensive line.) More running = better play action and better production from a receiving corps that is better than given credit. As a side note: the wildcat seriously needs to be shelved for good. Henne isn't a bad QB. He is a young one with a lot of pressure pout on him that hasn't been put on many or ANY young QBs: Be productive, but don't you dare make any mistakes!! No such handcuff were ever put on Ryan, Flacco, or Sanchez. LET HIM PLAY HIS GAME. LET him PLAY TO HIS STRENGTHS - not to the limitations of the the offensive plays. This is how you destroy a potential very good QBs confidence. Don't keep him on a short leash. Let him make mistake and learn from them. Henne is a smart QB. Let him do what he does. Remember Peyton Manning's first year? It doesn't happen over night for everyone. Our O-line is a work in progress because the coaching staff keeps making it so. If we get consistency there, we very well could be dominant. Too much switching and tweaking. It's borderline annoying. We have the backs, receivers and QB who can get it done (but the play calling and the leash dictates). Let them play.

Defense:7 Yeah, They've has bad games, but let's be objective. We are young. We are inexperienced. Yet, we are solid as hell the majority of the time. Once these guys get into the groove of the defensive scheme, we will be scary. We have the C-Wake. Misi (who is going to get better and better) and we have a decent interior line who is getting better. Noone can argue the Solia has been getting better and better. We need to improve in the secondary. We need depth. But this unit has kept us in close games and won some for us.

ST: Terrible. I can't understand it. I played football for a long time (YES, as a QB) but I have never seen a more atrocious ST. Well, yes I have. But it's been a while. It's inexcusable to be this bad. Missed tackles, missed assignments, missed blocks. Anything you can name. It's bad. Our new STs coordinator seems to be righting the ship, but time will tell. AS of now, I give them a 4.

I could go on, but I don't have much time. I could elaborate more, but I think the point has been made. We need to be more aggressive and assertive in every aspect of the game. We're not playing with swagger. We're playing like a team who is afraid to lose. We need to be more like A team the REFUSES to lose - from the coaches through the players. Mistakes? Who gives a damn? How else do you learn? You have to be aggressive on both side of the ball - mistakes be damned. This is how you become a contender. To hell with mistakes. PLAY FOOTBALL!!

    My grades...

Offense = 6 (has been good at moving the chains for the most part, but terrible in the red zone).
Defense = 7 (a good young core that will get better with time and key additions in the future).
Special Teams = 2 (both kickers have out shined everyone else. Not a good thing).

HC = 4 (maybe a good motivator, but I question his ability to manage a game).
OC = 0 (can I neg rep him?).
DC = 8 (the next HC?).

The LB's get a D as well..... Huh?
Dansby has been real good and Wake has been close to great. Misi is young but serviceable and will only get better. Channing might bring the evaluation down a bit I understand. I say B- with this group. Way better than last season.....

The rest is pretty dead on.

Just a question regarding our defense
Last season we were top 5 against the run(rushing yards per game average allowed)

With the addition of Dansby,Clemons,Misi,Sapp,Harris,Wake and Soliai playing more
    same players with Langford,McDaniel,Sparks, Bell,Davis

and we have dropped to 20th in the NFL against the run
Where and what is the problem why we have fallen to such a degree
    versus the run?

    Was Fergy that valuable ?
