What does this incredibly deserving, defensiive victory mean?

Holy in the fetal position batman...lol

I believe respected member Stringer Bell brought it up first, Defensive MVP...Cameron Wake...nice call before his ''relentlessness'' took his game to another level..

Bitter sweet win for me...I think the concerns for Henne were valid, the benching was valid, the lack of athleticism to function, the below par speed of motion, and the projection to move in a new direction...valid.

I bet Chad Pennington is at 75 percent after watching that performance..lol..

No first downs in the 2nd half...like seven or eight three and outs, thats unacceptable.. Especially when you got a YOUNG defense like ours baby.

Prez?..you gonna howl for these wolves now? they are in the locker room, you should join them buddy..lol.

Solai dominated his position today against the best center in the game....did you all see the closeup of him..the body is in shape man...That one play where he raced Sanchez to the sideline and made the play was impressive as hell..Irish. you dont sign him, you gonna have some serious enemies..

Ditto for my boy MCD...great game for this beast as well..I wish I could show you all what I saw in training camp..it was this practice tape on youtube, scary this guy..6'7 with balance {man is never on the ground} super strength, and ver...sa..tile..

I know it hurts like hell to think about this but is their a trade in that dline group that can be had?..gonna have to break that one down in a new thread...we need that 2nd round pick desperately, especially because were gonna have to look hard at all the qb's.

lol...were in deep sh#@ when it comes to our Dline...we cant sign them all can we?any other team that puts the tape in from this game, on those 2 dudes, their lookin at 4 years 25 mill each no?

Cam Wake..AKA..''RELENTLESS;;...DEF MVP..just like sayin that.

    The man kept comin ya'll...

Misi our young rook, playing in a new position, was all over the field today, hes only gonna get bigger, stronger, and smarter.

Karlos Dansby is legit...''He really is'' like Coach says

SS19....I took 5 digits away from him, for his 5 dropped int's, lol....what a game this man could of had....iam not sure how this is gonna affect him, and I dont know what to do about it..I'd love to hear some idea's?,transplant maybe?.....He played the run nicely today though.

VD24. keeps all his digits..just a great game.

HEYYYYY, Channing crowder played good today, he almost got his 2nd sack of his career, lol...

I would like to say that I have been wrong about Ronnie Brown, aplogize to those that had him pegged, bad projection on my part.. its why I said this was bitter sweet win for me.. Ive said my peace with him...

His issue comes down to poor vision..his brain has a mental block..The brain sends mixed signals to the feet, resulting in no explosion, and nothing in a 1 cut fashion, basically he doesn't know the meaning of downhill running, ala Mark Ingram.

LaMichael James is firmly on my first round board, if we trade down...

Ricky williams...also said my peace..need to move on from both I think..

Henning....have already said my peace, lol..goodbye sir.

Holy sh$# do we need to overhaul this offense...Than god for our young bad *** defense..

We finally have a 34 defense in miami....defense rules suckers, lol..

I do realize we need to go all offense in the draft though..

6 and 1 on the road boyz and girlz.1 and 5 at home.....hmmmmm:shifty:.

The reason why the Lombardi play was an excellent idea was obvious if you listen to Sparano's pressers...When he can get his team together an extra day, he's 100 percent about that dynamic, cause he surely can't do that at home, and miami is a tough place to get a team focused when you cant...like I always say, {Stitch, dont get too upset with me}' its gonna take a special group of men to win a champioship playing in that city, in that stadium''...the evidence continues to give my theory strength.

Please can some quantify now, how we lose against the browns at home, who loses against the bills, while we are beating the Jets on the road?

This was a great win for Sparano...however, if he loses against the bills or the lions at home, the signs cannot be ignored anymore..he will have to admit that he doesn't know how to deal with the distractions and disadvantages when at home...

I would love for our team to go away from davie for training camp next year..I know it wont happen, but it needs to..

The last couple weeks i've been saying that Henne is really messed up in the head...A dark place more like it...Indicting performance today...

If I was coach, I give thigpen and Henne 50 50 reps in practice, and at the end of the week, I make my decision.

Did ya'll see that shot of Sparano gettin the D fired up before they went out there and closed the fu$#in deal?....Thats our coach man.....

Sanchez has a feathery arm..I love it..

Ross makes a move as an owner, and it pays off...love that too...it will bring him closer to the team, which will result in more passion for championships, and deep pockets..

Great win for our team, our coach, and our owner.

Well if they can win two games at home coming up then beat a Brady-less Pats team there's a shot they'll have some road games coming up.

If it wasn't for SS 24 we would not have won that game, did he come up with the picks? No,but he stops three drives by himself and a huge one with his right handed bat while the Jets were driving. He shold've caught at least two, but ya know, thats why he is a DB, plus the ball was wet as all get out. Thank you SS24 for being an instrumental part of winning that game!!!!

Our youth is starting to grow up and the D has gelled together!!! Woohoo. Now if we can continue capitalizing on TO opportunities, we'll be set!!!

I said it in another post, but Moses and McDaniel need to be locked up b/c their depth is incredibly important IMO. McD is on the verge of becoming ProBowl material. I don't care if Odrick is coming back next year or not; Tony BETTER be prioritized this offseason!

The light is finally coming on for SS!!! Thank friggin God this guy has a competitive "I'm gonna be a star" mentality.

Bell is playing his best ball now that he doesn't have to babysit our CBs.

Our Dline absolutely engulfs offenses!!! We can afford to load up on offensive weapons and Oline with how young & great these guys are playing.

The Dline is the absolute, unquestionable strength of this team. There is no way that I think about jeopardizing that at ANY cost. A potential compromise to our Team "strength" is not worth a 2nd round draft pick IMO. IMO these guys have to be thought of as 1 unit b/c they play like 1 unit.... and as 1 unit they dominate games. If we begin taking away pieces of that unit, it might not be a unit anymore. We have 7 wins b/c of them (and Wake). If we let someone go and then experience some injuries, our entire season could be destroyed. Building up a dominating unit like we have is what teams should be striving for, not trying to break it apart.

If it came down to it, I'd cut Carey if it afforded us to keep these guys together..... and then find a rookie to replace him. I think these guys are that special together..... and our ability to rotate bodies keeps them fresh and busting a$$ till the last play of the game. (but that's just my novice opinion)

nice post dj. my thoughts are pretty much the same as they were a few weeks ago about this team. we screwed up in a big way with our offensive line. I know why we made the moves but the people we chose have not performed to the level we need them too. Incognito, Berger and McQuistan are better served as backups then starters. We wont know about John Jerry till next year so in my mind we have to get at least two stud linemen who can both run block and pass block and arent one dimensional. Considering that maybe its time we move Vernon Carey maybe we need a OT also. I think we have to draft or pick up in free agency two out of the following three, a center, guard and tackle. We need at least two. If we get the right two this team is in the playoffs next year even if we do nothing else

After that, Henne did a few nice things in the first twenty minutes of the game and then basically disappeared for the rest of the game. The price you pay when you draft a QB.

Ronnie looks like he lost a step. Ricky is the wrong age. We need a RB. Maybe the draft, maybe we just get someone like Cedric Benson. Not sure yet

Would really like to get Lance Kendricks as our TE but maybe we need to go FA also on that end

Even though we have more important priorities a fast do everything receiver like A J Green is going to be very difficult to pass by if he's available

On defense we can use one more pass rusher but defense is low priority this offseason.

I know everyone is on the Cameron Wake for MVP bandwagon but I'm starting to wonder if Paul Soliai might not merit that title. Guy is an absolute beast. I could be wrong but I dont think Vontae gave up a pass today. Also Sean Smith played well overall though he's obviously a Roberto Duran fan....hands of stone. Merling had a nice batted pass. Hopefully he keeps improving as his stamina increases. I would like him to finish on the upswing

Shaolin Kung Fu Ninja Bad News Dispenser for Offenses Mike Nolan reached into his bag o' tricks today the stuff he did in Denver to start the year he is wheeling out onto the field right now, the blitzes, the stunts, and tbh, this Defense is already good enough from Base 3-4 he really doesn't have to do so..he must feel like he has to use it sometime this yr or his players will get disappointed.

    Deej..ready?

Cam Wake is better than Terrel Suggs..

Coffee is for closers, in two yrs we've seen Wake close out how many games now? 2? 3?

Dude is getting the big cup of coffee from starbucks..on Ross's dime

BTW Deej, noticed you did some sniffing around about Phillip Hunt on the jets board..tsk tsk tsk

Dude thought Hunt needed another season in the CFL, as if it were AA minor league baseball.

Sort of sums up the problem with Jets fans, they do not do their homework, they take the easy way out.

Spend 6 yrs sucking and even obscure CFL DE's are taken seriously.

    We are hungrier.

Wake just goes werewolf and closes the deal, I keep waiting for a long nose and fangs to appear through his facemask in the 4th qtr.

Soliai though, is close to having his man card punched into the "full on" club, holy smokes have to wonder if Ireland has an extension on the table and Soliai thinks he is worth more money, dude is play as well as Haloti Ngata, he has run down Hillis and Sanchez outside the hashmarks..at 6'5 and 345...

Funny thing is Deej, Sparano and Nolan are kind of made for each other, both are sort of Rainman types.

Maybe Parcells and Belicheck pt II?

Maybe the sign Soliai using the money tied up in Vern C's contract?

Cannot see them letting Soliai walk, we could either tender him, or franchise him, or just sign him outright, with their emphasis on Line play cannot see him leaving.

    Nice post!

IMO this game means we keep our slim playoff hopes alive. Obviously they're slim playoff hopes, but having some hope late in the season is considerably better than having none.

I also think we continue to see the young talent on D develop. I said all off-season that we had plenty of young defensive talent and that our problem was the lack of young offensive talent. I like what I see out of Smith and Davis, Wake and Soliai and Dansby, Misi and Crowder. I know the his detractors are unlikely to admit it, but Crowder had a fantastic game. I also think we're getting good play out of Bell, McDaniels and Starks. Really all this defense needs is that play maker at FS. Clemons has been an upgrade, but Earl Thomas would be the kind of player that could take this defense to that 2000 Raven's level. I also wish the team had realized the problem was on offense and added a TE and a speedy back as I'd hoped.

I agree. Having depth at D-line is quite important just for the reason that they rotate in and out enough that the backups play significant minutes over the course of a season. And you can never have enough good linemen. Ask the Giants about that one.

our running game and lack of a downhill presense in that dept is imo, crippling..I think its worse than people think...Ronnie brown is the antithesis of a downfield, no hesitation thru the hole, 1 cut runner....hes really pissin me off Raf..The fumble..the inability to recover a fumble, the hesitation every stinkin time he gets the ball handed to him in his gut, it all shows mental weakness...either that, or the man has a twitch, a mental block that he cannot overcome..

Raf, whats the first position you wanna upgrade in the offense?, mine's running back...

Thomas would have been nice, but hopefully what you'll see out of Clemons in the next few years is a noticeable improvement in his playmaking skills. He's gone from a kid that has a world of speed but struggled mentally to a kid who has taken tremendous strides understanding his position. Now hopefully he takes that next step where he can play even faster by anticipating and reacting naturally.

Imho, Ireland should look high and low for running backs who do not require draft choices, or large FA contracts...

I can think of a few guys who fit that mold as imho, Rb is a relatively easily filled position, real talent at Te and Oline costs, there is no way around paying for it as guys willing to subject themselves to the beating those positions take, and are good at it, are hard to find.

Keep Cory Boyd on your radar as well Deej, in the December 20's workouts the CFLers do trying to make a roster.

I'm not sure, but RB is in the top two. Looking at this draft, I don't see much available at TE which is the other position I want. I generally don't like to take a RB in the first, but Ingram might be the best available player at a our draft position. I'm sure they'll look to trade down though, so that will change things.

I really liked Clemons coming out, but he has never shown a tendency to be a play maker. While we can be hopeful, I don't see much reason to expect that he'll ever be a play maker. I think the most we can reasonably expect is for him to develop into the guy that rarely gets beat deep. There's value in that, but IMO that's less valuable than the guy the gets you the ball back.

Me either! Paul is QUICKLY becoming the most dominant NT in the game IMO. This defense runs on Soliai. Pay the man his biscuits for at least 5 years. If I had the choice between Paul and Carey......... I'd roll a cheeseburger down the road and tell Vern to follow it.

Thanks Deej....... oh, and great OP by the way too my friend. :knucks:

IMO our pass D is looking stellar b/c of them. Ground attacks are collapsing b/c of them. SS, Carroll, Vontae, Clemons, and Jones's development & transition are so much smoother and easier with these boys up front shortening QBs' time to throw.

Soliai needs to be signed , not an option imo.

If he continues to be motivated and work as he has and improves as he has... he will be a pro bowl calibre NT and this organization can't lose home grown talent such as that .... him and MCD , no excuses , sign both of them and build on our strength or at least keep that aspect so we can improve what is woefully lacking ... and there more than a few positions that fit that grade.

The defense and Dan Carpenter deserve all the credit for this win. Of course the Jets receiver dropping a sure TD pass in the endzone certainly didn't hurt either. Unfortunately the only thing the Dolphins can count on each week is a strong effort by the defense, the punter and our field goal kicker. The Dolphins now look like they will win 9-10 games but it appears this still will not get them into the playoffs. The offensive line is a joke. The running backs are only getting older and slower. As far as Henne goes. I don't care who the offensive coordinator is. Henne is NOT the answer at QB. If not for the turnovers by the defense early in the game. I think it is very likely the Dolphins would have lost the game and not scored a single point. With 9 or 10 wins, the Dolphins will be drafting in the bottom half of the draft. This makes getting a top tier offensive player very difficult. With no second round draft pick and all the needs on offense. It is very likely that it is going to take the Dolphins at least anther 2-3 years to get the players on offense needed to compete against the better teams in the NFL. The Dolphins also seem to be stuck with Henne for the time being because where they will be drafting. There will be no QB left on the board which will be able to come in and start right away. So basically what this win shows is that Miami can compete from a defensive perspective against any team in the league. The problem for the Dolphins remains on the offensive side of the ball as it has all year and will remain the problem until the offensive line problems are solved and new running backs and a quality QB are added to this team.

if we're saying good bye to brown, idk how you DONT take ingram if hes there. although we're playing our way out of him right now. I figured we'd be 10-18 and we're moving farther down the draft with each win.

Well, not seeing it because fmr Dolphins coach George Edwards is the DC in Buffalo and will not put him out on the field, so if he can't play for Edwards, why/how could he play for Nolan? And Jauron and the Fewell did not find reasons to play him in 09 either.

Chances are good, dude is a dud.

With no #2 pick, if we take Ingram, we cannot take a Center or Guard until Day 2, and the Oline needs at least a LG, unless they keep Rotten Richie and move him to Center as the oline has just not been good Deej.

As I posted up in Club, this is the most important offseason since 2001, tons of decisions to make that will effect the fate of the Franchise for the next couple of years.

For example, what if they go Qb in rd #1?

After we win 2 more games, Ingram will probably be gone and we'll be sitting pretty to take Justin Blackmon who I think has Reggie Wayne type potential. Personally, I'd trade Carey for a 3rd to use his salary for Mankins.
I'd trade Crowder for a 5th (or dump him outright if no one wants him) to help pay our Dline.
Then I'd trade next years 1st to grab a RT in the top of the 2nd to replace Carey.
The (2) 3rds can be used on a RB & Mark Herzlich at MLB.
I'd use our 4th on Greg Little whom I feel will prove to be a steal of the draft.

Sign Mankins and Zach Miller/Scheffler in FA.

IMO, this offseason needs: 3 playmakers on offense, a LG, the Dline intact, trading Carey and Crowder for picks and more cap room, a RT to replace Carey, a playmaking MLB to replace Crowder.

The 3 playmakers on offense: WR, TE, RB.

I'm trying to come up with every scenario possible to get the most out of it all.

    Loco..or visionary?

    :shifty:

Simply put, the Qb and Oline has to be straightened out if I were Ireland, so why take a Rb who is going nowhere with defenders draped around his ankles in the backfield?

I agree completely. I dont think we can "teach" him to become a playmaker. He either has "it" or he doesn't..... and ever since Clemson I've never seen it. He's a great football player but he's not a "playmaker". But he is good enough to buy us an extra year or 2 so that next year can be devoted towards offense IMO.

If someone in our secondary doesn't start catching the ball consistently, then SOMEONE is gonna have to go to make room for a guy who can grab some INTs. Right now I see Clemons as the odd man out.

I agree he's a dud right now..... but if you put him under the wing of a guy who's "been there done that" in the dud department who has similar physical tools etc, then I think Cam is the ONLY guy on earth who could work with Maybin and motivate him to turn the light on and get it going. IMO the kid needs a few years of quality learning while physically & mentally maturing w/o any crazy pressure on him. At least it'd be a fun project and I think Wake would love the role. By the time Wake is losing a step, Maybin could be ready to take over. lol.

If we go QB in round 1 then the offense is screwed and so is the QB w/o any protection, ground game, and a lack of playmakers. lol. But we ARE the Dolphins so I'm sure messing up a QB and spending another 10 years looking for that "franchise guy" isn't out of the realm of possibility.

I thought Crowder played a great game yesterday. He's a great fit next to Dansby and he's vet presence for a young D. He's also relatively cheap.

And by that time Maybin would up for a new contract himself, why pay the guy to teach him how to do his job to then allow another team to sign him?

Dude has not shown enough to be worth an NFL Scholarship on the Dolphins dime.
