I have never seen him play and his college stats don't really jump out at me but i want to see for myself why this guy is a potenial first rounder.I am not going to jump to any conclusions until I see him play for myself.
What does everybody on this site think of this guy? From what i read he is a great athlete but not the most accurate guy and tends to lock on his primary receiver.

Well last year, everyone was saying that this year would be "the Jake Locker draft". I'm interested to see what the kid's got as well, but man, he really fell from grace in most people's eyes.

Not really a sleeper due to the hype from the beginning. But outrageous athleticism and a great arm, but he's very very raw and inconsistent.

He was touted as a potential #1, but even before his fall from grace his stats don't shine in any way.

He's a guy who'd need at least 2 seasons before he was ready to start IMO. He's almost a luxury pick for a team with a veteran QB. A team like Seattle maybe?

    What this guy said.

I live up here and have watched almost every game of his (it's local tv up here). I have been racking my brain trying to figure out the hype. I figured up here it's just because he's a local boy, so they're proud of their own.... But he's not that good! He's essentially a great athlete moonlighting as a QB. His mechanics and decision making aren't anything special.

Everyone was wrong then too

What's crazy is they were touting him as a #1 overall coming off his injury season where he didn't play.

The guy is flat out bad IMO. I've watched him for two seasons now and just not impressed at all. His game against Nebraska earlier this season was a horrific performance.

Personally, Jake Locker is not going to make it in the NFL. Washington has sucked with him there too. Nebraska should spank their backsides tonight in SD. My guy is either Mallet, Newton or Pryor if he declares. 2 of the three should be available when out pick comes around in the first round.

Pryor will be back. I don't like him, think he's a bad QB and same goes for Mallett but some will disagree with me. :)

And for the life of me I can't understand why we are seeing this (horrible) matchup again ? Couldn't the conferences and the bowl agree on a different matchup ? I don't plan on wasting my time watching it. I'll be watching rugby with a friend of mine instead.

The fins could draft him, have David Lee and Dan Henning coach him up, and he'll be playing baseball in a year.

Locker has pretty nice mobility but I just hope we pass on him if he is still on the board.

I am hoping that Jake Locker plays the game of his life, has the best combine in the history of the NFL and then gets drafted before the Dolphins pick.

The guy is a bad quarterback.

*Rumor* here in Nebraska was supposedly the Big 12 pushed for this matchup. Kind of a, one last screw job on Nebraska for leaving the Big 12 for the Big 10. Plus, supposedly the Big 12 didnt want the Big 10 to get free publicity for next year if the Insight Bowl would have gotten the Nebraska/Iowa matchup that was being talked about around this area alot.
Not exactly the matchup that we NU fans were wanting either. NU already beat them by 35 earlier in the year, and plays them again at the beginning of next season, and now the bowl game. 3 matchups in 12 months. Yay!

It is drives like the touchdown at the beginning of the first quarter that might make a GM believe they can coach him up.

It's still ugly though 1-9 14 yards into the 3rd quarter.

you really think pryor is a first rounder if he were to come out? I am a HUGE ohio state fan and i dont think hes very good. i wouldnt spend anything more than a 3rd, if that. Pryor has an arm, but isnt accurate and doesnt make great decisions. He has had too many games where he has played bad and the only reason they won is because they play a ton of MAC type teams. He is a solid scrambler but he isnt a vick type. He is a long strider and isnt that fast, which i believe wont be even close as effective in the nfl.
i am very skeptical about newton too but id definately take him over pryor

but luckily he wont be coming out in this years draft

I watched the 1st half and into the 3rd last night. It was the 1st time I ever watched him and all I can say is, why do I even know this guy's name? I don't want this guy anywhere near the Phins. Even if he was available in the 7th, I don't want him. The guy couldn't even complete a pass for christ's sake. Yates looked better than Locker in the game before. Heck I'd rather have that freshman from Tennesee before Yates and especially Locker.

That was not a pretty performance. Even the passes that he DID complete, they were not good. His ball placement is not good at all and accuracy overall is bad IMO.

Locker is a horrid prospect. Maybe if you sit him on the bench for four years and he has good coaching he could be decent. In this draft you have Luck at the top, then probably Glabbert. Newton is a huge question mark and will be a project. Mallett looks like a Henne clone. Pryor probably won't declare, but if he did wouldn't be worth more than a 3rd at this stage. After Luck and Glabbert, I'd be most comfortable using a pick on Devlin or Yates.

I agree, I'm very interested in Gabbert. Newton is interesting, but like you said needs some work. Yates was alright last night, I liked his mobility and ability to throw on the run. For instance his touchdown pass before the half.

Seen Locker in person twice.......not that great of a qb. struggles against good defenses and seems to regress when things don't go as planned. Hell, I'll go out on a limb and say that Nick Foles(U of A qb) is a better qb than Locker. Lead the Pac-10 in almost every stat this year. While I'm not saying we should draft Foles, just comparing him to another decent qb that doesn't even get recognition. Locker is a product of one good year. Last year he looked a lot more promising than now, even all the scouts said his performance this year has hurt his draft stock.

    I say stay away!!!

IMO it's no stretch to say Foles is better than Locker. He is way better IMO. Foles is a pretty good prospect.

    Really? The Qb for AZ?

Wow, if so he was the worst Qb I've watched this bowl season Alen, the most pleasant surprise that I have seen is NC State's Russel, he reminded me very much of David Garrard in his physical skills.

Heard he is going to play minor league baseball though.
