Well, Harbaugh lives out here, so he was coming to SFO regardless, but I still maintain that that aside, Harbaugh and the niners are each other's number one choice. Baalke has pretty much staked his claim for the GM spot by practically promising a big name to enrgize the fanbase. What better way to do so than to snake the coach of the 12-1 major college team that plays 20 miles south of you?

I just said this in the Club... if Baalke getting the GM job (with the help of Parcells and his recommendation) is what lands Harbaugh, then Ross indeed has a case on those tampering charges.
To me, that is the real lesson of Lil Nicky and Jimmy Johnson, if a HC does not want to be there, change plans and go after someone else if you are determined to do so, to beg a HC is not a good football move because even if they take the job, they are operating under bad motivations. Still don't think Sparano is out of the woods, not yet, in my gut I think Ross is privately very pissed with Sparano for over promising and underdelivering, so do not be surprised if we see Nolan bumped to HC as through all of this, only 2 guys were "safe" Ireland and Nolan, so much so it was a deal breaker for Cowher.
I think he'll definitely go to the 49ers. Not sure how many options we're going to have out there. I can't take another season of Sparano.
Nolan is an interesting dark horse candidate. He's quite a gamble though I think he'd probably be a little better than Sparano.
We can always pretend the Niners are now the Dolphins in red & gold so that we still get Harbaugh as our coach. That way we can all root for Ginn again.
..? Baalke is/was a Niners employee previous. He would be an inhouse candidate. How would tampering charges apply? Parcells isn't even an employee of the Dolphins anymore. He is only a "consultant." Much like Ron Wolf was a few years back. I don't see how Miami and Ross would have a leg to stand on.
I want Nolan no where near the HC job here. Kepe him as a coordinator for as long as you can and let another team fall on that grenade later. I am surprised Brian Billick isn't getting more attention than he has with San Fran. Always thought he was a good coach, even if I do kind of hate the guy. Not sure why he hasn't been looked at elsewhere.
I think the idea would be to hire the best coordinators and bring them into Miami, Nolan makes it more likely they would sign here, Sheridan bumps up to DefCord, Rizzi is replaced with Crosby or Elsay etc. Not wild about such a move, but if Ross is as pissed as I think he is, it could easily happen.
49ers tampered with us in contacting Parcells, who is under contract by us. At the time I dismissed it as normal practice... Baalke worked under Parcells afterall and they were just seeking his reference... however, if Harbaugh goes to the 9ers because of it (keeping Sparano in place would be good for Parcells), then all bets are off.
