So Dan Henning should never call a play action pass because Chad Henne does not pocess the tools necessary to make a play?????

That is ridiculous........Henne is a mediocre QB. I was watching some film of Marino the other day and it is amazing to compare how and when Marino was reading the defense. Marino read the defense by the time he hit his drop, and already had decided where he was going with the ball. Henne is different. Henne isn't making that decision until 2 to 3 seconds, sometimes much longer, after his drop. Henne has to learn when a receiver is open in the NFL. Henne looks for the textbook separation. DB's cover too tight in the NFL for that. Elite QB's have faith in their receivers and throw to a "spot" and timing is a huge element of success. Henne has not developed that. Brandon Marshall quietly eluded to my very point a few weeks ago, by saying that previous QB's would throw up the ball and let him go get it, open or not. No confidence, no "it factor".

    IT: Mental and physical toughness

Like it or not the QB position comes with inherited responsibilities. Having "it" provides confidence to the other team members on offense, making them better.

I will add this one thought:

Every time Marino had the ball we all had confidence we were gonna score. We just knew something magical was about to happen!!!

When is the last time you felt that way with Chad Henne at the Helm???

"It" is the confidence that you are gonna score right now on this play.

"It" is what happens as a result

"It" is calling a player out for having a **** play

"It" is congratulating the same player for a good job

    "It" is being the leader

"It" is having physical and mental toughness

"It" is rubbing off on you team mates

    "It" is never giving up

"It" is striving every day, every play to get better

"It" is practicing if it isn't perfect until your arm falls off

"It" is commanding the field with your very presence

Chad Henne could get there. Of course I am speculating because I do not know Chad Henne personally. I have not heard any one say he is not intelligent.

    QB's with "IT"

    Marino
    Farve
    Manning
    Montana
    Elway
    Brady

I am sure there are others

Very well put, but you will probably be contradicted shortly and your intelligence questioned. Some feel the need to attempt to put others intelligence down while sitting in front of a computer with quick jabs, insults and one liners. You would think they are on the payroll of an NFL team or something with the way they talk down to others...............what a joke. As far as the "it" factor, I agree completely. If you don't understand the importance of it, you have probably never been involved in athletics past HS (if that) but you dominate the fantasy leagues i'm sure.

Your passive aggressiveness rivals that of any of my kids.

There is no such thing as "it" or "clutch" or "Santa" or "Easter Bunny" or "Magic".

What 2socks is talking about is determination, hard work, tenacity, toughness, brains, and leadership. None of which are "it". Of course some NFL players posses more of these qualities than others, but they ALL posses the qualities or else they'd still be playing Madden.

All of those QB's that he mentioned were/are great and great for many different reasons. None of which is "it".

LOL that's awesome. I am getting used to the jabs and having my intelligence questioned. Easy to do when your sitting behind a keyboard. Those that do those sort of things usually don't last long and fade away over time because people stop responding to them. Everyone is entitled to their opinions. It is comical how many come here and just regurgitate what they have read elsewhere. You get to know who is genuine over time. People like Padre, Da phins, Toddphins, etc are some who stand out to me right off the top. There are many others as well. Those that contribute nothing to the tread I try to ignore. Every now and then there is someone who just puts something so out there that you just go......huh...and you got to ask where the heck are you getting this from.

"It" isn't easily measurable - it's seen in results when you put people in situations. If "it" was measurable you would not have people like Ryan Leaf drafted in the 1st round, and Tom Brady drafted in the 6th round. Same could be said for "clutch".
"It" is real, and most professional analysts would agree.
"It" and "Clutch" can be measured... Look at kicker stats in pressure situations... Same with basketball players... Or qb's with 4th quarter comebacks vs. interceptions. If you have "it" you are good in the clutch.

    On a separate note...
Santa is real, he's the Christmas spirit, and I had lots of replicas of him around my house last month.
The Easter Bunny is real too, I've seen him in movies and he hides Easter eggs in my house every year.
And "Magic" was one hell of a basketball player.

Do you even know what play action is bro? If you can't run or even try to begin with chances are no one is going to bite. How often is this play successful on 3rd and long? That is why these calls by Henning were total clown shoes. You are a hater though and not real great with football knowledge (no offense) so we understand why you skew these types of things.

BTW using Marino as a gauge to measure Chad Henne? Give it up man you are embarrassing yourself.

I never said noone puts any blame on Henning. I said I've never seen anyone question the 3rd and long play actions and most Fin Fans pin the blame on Henne before Henning.

You're just wrong. Clutch has been proven a myth time and time again using scientific methods. It doesn't exist. The same goes for "it".

The "clutch" stats ARE what was used in these studies. For exaple, Mr. October, you've heard of him, right? Well, his "October" stats were no different than his September stats or his August stats. NO DISCERNIBLE DIFFERENCE. Marino played great because he was GREAT. The Dolphins never won a Super Bowl not because Marino wasn't great, but because their teams were never good enough to win a Super Bowl. The "clutch" stats, which you say proves it to be real, shows nothing more than good players play good. Look at Brady's numbers in the post season. Now compare them to the regular season. NO DISCERNIBLE DIFFERENCE.

I mean do you actually read your posts or think about what you say? Seriously? A guitar and a set of drums ARE TWO ENTIRELY DIFFERENT INSTRUMENTS! Your analogy: "I could be the greatest guitar player in the world. However, we'd never get to find out if my music teacher keeps putting me on the drums" would then mean 2 entirely different positions. Playaction is a crucial part of a QB's skill set. You keep confirming my beliefs that you are uneducated but preach as if you are.

No I didnt WHAT??? I read it all. The addendum says CK believes Henne is not a good QB. Its there, GO READ IT.
And here in lies the problem with bothering to post on these forums to people you dont know. Why in the world would YOU ask for someones reasoning.....Then not read the answer...and then say you dont listen to anyone on a forum? If you arent interested.......why bother askin?. What a waste of time for you.
    why would you write..........
Would you mind pointing out your reasons for coming to this conclussion.

Personally, I dont care if you want my opinion or not. It just makes NO SENSE TO ASK, and then not bother to read and then TRY to belittle someone when YOU ASK for their opinion?

as for the IT factor........there would be no reason for me to answer that one either, would there.

No need to reply........I wont read it anyway now.

True but you at least have to try it now and then. Not on 3rd and long, and not as often as Henning forced it down Henne's throat. You try it now and then because there might be one time that a safety comes up two yards and it lets a target get behind the defense. I'm sure one of the reasons Henning was so insistant on it (besides him being a stubborn fool) was to try and even out the field because he had slower Wr's.

Even though Henne is horrible at it, he should continue to practice it so he feels more comfortable with his back to the defense.

On the subject of play action and Marino - has there ever been a worse QB in NFL history at selling the play fake?

Dan believed the only reason for giving the ball to him in the first place was to let him throw it downfield.

Check out the last 6 game day threads. It's been said a thousand times. Even called by some of us before the snap. It was very predictable and it's so hard to believe that Henning kept doing it to the end!

Not advocating either side, but you had a question and I felt I could answer it better than most.

I actually have a friend who was a executive coach and has moved on to working with athletes. The foundation of what his company is based on is that 99% of the most successful people in business, sports, or any other field, fall into the top percentile of certain behavioral traits (if they first have the skills to succeed in a given field). They do a detailed analysis of their clients and determine where they fall on each of these traits, such as, aggressiveness. They then give you behavioral changes to help adjust your ratings, whether that is being overly aggressive or vice versa. They are ridiculously successful at developing future CEO's or getting the most out of athletes.

With this information, I think that the "it" factor that is referred to so often is actually an exact combination of these personality traits. They can be developed, but a person has to be aware of, and work towards changing their flaws.

Did you guys actually read the entire article?

CK thinks Chad Henne SUCKS! And he is 100% right. Henne AND Henning are both horrible.

There is not one good thing about Chad Henne's game.

    Someone please tell me what part of Chad Henne's game is elite? {{crickets}}

AJ Feeley > Chad Henne, and that is pathetic but true.

Please tell me what part of your reading comprehension and QB analysis skills is elite?

    Both are horrible.

CK never said or implied that Henne "sucks". That's the type of language people use when they are too lazy or uninformed to explain a player's actual weaknesses. CK did say that he doesn't think Henne is a good QB, which is so OBVIOUS that it's not even worth saying. The question is, can he improve, how and when? Should we continue developing him or move in a different direction? Saying Henne "sucks" says more about the person mouthing off than it does about the QB.
