I took a look at current VG-Great QB's, and do not have a clue.

We could wait to hit the lotto with a #6 pick in Brady, and get a HOF QB.

We could wait for another available Peyton at overall #1.

We could get lucky with another Big Ben, a #11 pick.

We could wait for anther Brees, who was nothing until his 4th year, and made a great recovery from injury, which doctors said he could not. FA

We could maybe draft another Rodgers. He played in his 4th year, and just played his 3rd playoff game.

We could trade for a Schaub, took until 4th year to shine, no playoffs. At home.

We could hope for a Rivers. Took 3 years starting to develop, sitting home.

We could want an Eli. 5th year to be VG. Sitting home.

We could want a Cuttler. Has great talent but, has done nothing.

We could want a Vick. Did little in 6 years bit. after prison, is playing well.

We could want a Ryan, Flacco, or Sanchez. They have shown little in playoff pressure.

So, let's review. We want a lotto 6th rounder to be GREAT or, an overall #1 with someone like Peyton. or, a Big Ben who likes to pick on kids in bathrooms or, a QB getting out of jail, or, someone we wait to develop. Hmmmm.

    TUFF CHOICE, your pick?

The best way for the Dolphgins to find a future NFL pro bowl QB is for them to finish with the worst record in the NFL next year. This way they will have the first pick in the 2012 draft and they will be able to select Luck with their first pick. Of course if Ireland is still the GM. He will probably not draft Luck and opt to draft another offensive lineman instead. As Joe Rose stated, the mantra for Dolphin fans next year should be, "Suck for Luck".

How many teams, and thousands of coaches, scouts, and experts have studied tape to find out it is the luck of the draw?

I know there are many analysts and "experts" on this forum. When it comes to QB, it just does not matter. It reminds me of going to the horse track. There are "touts" who have timed every horse, studied the track and how each horse runs on it. They make their picks. Then, there is some old lady betting on her grandkids birthdays. She wins more than they do. LOL

give Henne a shot with a real coach who can develop a QB ... Chudz or the guy from GB ... i call this year a wasted year for Chad, both in coaching and development. Take away all the threats, piss poor game plans and just let him go out and play for 1 year and relook it next year. But certainly bring in Henson or Dixon to push for back-up .... Thigpen just needs to go .... and maybe Brandstater is a golden nugget (he was a 6 rd pick after all) ....

Neither Kolb or Vick are leaving PHI, don't like VY - especially if Fisher can't work with him, and Orton (who would be my choice to bring in) would cost too much to get him. McNabb has been done ....

not sure if it is luck per se .... but it is absolutely finding a match between QB, 'system' and timing-experience with playmakers ...

Well, the one thing that strikes me is that we have never tried..PATIENCE..only Fieldler had the benefit of the doubt, every other Qb since him has been hated within 1 yr of starting typically.

As for the larger question, an All Pro Qb?

Easy. Buy tickets to the Pro Bowl, go to the game, look for the player directly behind the center, point to him and say... " theres a Pro Bowl QB".

think the jets are proving you dont need one to reach the afc championship. we'll need one to win it all but we dont need to panic about it. most important thing is fixing our oline and reestablishing the run. thats good enough to make the playoffs and win in them and it buys us time for either henne to develop or us to find a a competant top 16 QB. For next year, I would like to just sign a non descript guy like shaun hill or hasselbeck or gradkowski just in case henne falls apart and rebuild our runnning game. if henne doesnt improve then we in 2012 we have to find a real QB.

    Develop one.

Draft their guy this year in whatever round and continue to let Henne take the heat.

He's a big boy. He can take it.

and then draft another one next year and the year after that and continue to do so until someone beats out Henne.

Well, just to be clear Bro, Hill resigned with the Lions.

As for a stopgap, ugh, every year the same thing, and I like Gradkowski.

INOW, if Young hits the market, he would make sense as at least there is some hope he could do a bit more in the long run.

I'd rather give Thiggy the shot, Henne is what he is, 28 games in, we sort of know what to expect from #7.

If Sparano sticks with him then if he is canned that is on him.

If Sanchez can make it to the AFC Conference title round 2 years in a row, we don't need a Pro Bowl QB,
but we DO need an experienced OC, who isn't senile, gets people on the same page, executing with efficiency, moving the ball as we did in 08.

Repair Penningtons shoulder, but this time double stitch, and reinforce everything, sew in bubble wrap for pete's sake, or make it bionic.

I agree. Add in that next season i believe we will be as good as any D in the NFL. Give our DB's this off season to improve again, catch some picks, everyone another year with Nolan, and I can't wait.

I know this doesn't matter much but, we did beat the Jets, Pack, Pitt (didn't count, LOL), and Da Bears game was the 3-headed QB disaster. It does say a little something about this team having some talent.

That's not necessarily true. In the infamous class of '83 the QB coming out of the draft that all the analysts said we'd be talking about as one of the greatest QB's ever was going to be Tony Eason...drafted before Dan Marino....drafted before John Elway...drafted before Jim Kelly.

There's no guarantee Andrew Luck is going to be a Marino, Elway or Kelly. he could end up being a Tony Eason or even worse...what's his name....that jerkie from San Diego that imploded....having a brain cramp right now

Nah, Elways was always the class of the 83 Draft, everyone knew he would go #1 overall, but back then he also played minor league baseball and told the Colts not to draft him, they had taken Art Schlecter the yr before with a #1 pick but they drafted him anyway.

"Champagne Tony" Eason was highly touted, but not like Elway.

The real shock that yr was Ken O'Brien being taken by the Jets after Richard Todd was coming off of a solid season.

Exactly, folks who think "gosh we should lose so we can draft..."

Are simply overwrought, though TBH I am warming up to Vince Young a bit.

I'm sure Thigpen gets another shot if he sticks around (FA I think?) and I expect to see at least a couple of new faces.

But who's available in FA that you look at and say "wow" that's a huge upgrade and likewise, of the potential draftees?

Henne did nothing this year to show he is ever going to be anything more than a journeyman at the QB position. But as of right now, he's the best QB on the team.

This thread is about PRO BOWL QBs. Why anyone on our current roster is being mentioned is beyond me.

"With a new QB coach and offensive coordinator, Chad Henne will blossom into a pro-bowl QB."

"Lets draft a QB in the late rounds and groom him."

"The light didn't turn on for Drew Brees until his 4th season."

"Lets trade a 2nd for somebody else's backup."

I've been hearing these same ideas for about 10 years now.

Guess what? The Dolphins have done them all and have failed in every case.

Did anyone notice that the final four teams in the playoffs all have first round QBs?

Drafting a QB in the first round is the one thing that the Fins HAVE NOT done since Marino (a 1st rounder btw). Yes I know someone is going to say "Well there are a lot of busts in the first round like Ryan Leaf, Alex Smith, Joey Harrington, etc."

Well So what? These guys were first round picks because they were the top QB prospects in the years they were drafted. The Fins need to invest in a TOP PROSPECT in a QB. Sure there is risk, but thats a risk they finally need to take.

Chad Henne was not a top prospect. He had flaws such as accuracy issues, delivery issues, trouble reading the field, etc. Guess what, he still does. Thats why hes a late 2nd round pick. You got what you paid for.

My point is, get a conviction about a top tier prospect and go get him! Do whatever it takes. If you don't that we well continue to be what we have been for the last 10 years: mediocre and irrelevant.

Expend what you need till you get what you need.

Miami hasn't done that and the results are , well the results.

This year we have a mid level first round choice, there appears to be some potential future franchise QB's available. Do all the homework required by scouts , management that is needed , if you get a conviction on someone , make the deal to get the player.

You are always going to be chasing that QB till you get him , solve that , then build around him. Rather Miami do that and level off for a couple years than pretend they have addressed the issue only to be back to where we were in 2 to 3 seasons.
