Would not mind him in Miami as I think he is more turnover conscious than Ahmad Bradshaw, but would he be paired with a Rookie or Ronnie Brown? Also think we could have some interest in Cedric Benson as he would provide the Mr Inside to Williams Mr Outside. Or maybe hiring Rb coach Nixon we could make a run at Jerome Harrison.
Good player. Brings a dimension to the offense we were lacking. And we can then avoid the position in the early rounds
Yes please.... Id take a risk at his injury thing....age doesnt bother me at all...given how this staff uses RB's.....the days of a RB getting 30-40 carries are over.... Williams can house it....
Omar seems to be tweeting alot of info about the Phins.... Does he know anything or just going for the throw it to the wall and see if it sticks approach..... **** sticks is my opinion....
Omar Kelly is a joke. Someone, anyone please tell me the last time he was right about stuff like this. He should keep his day job. Like you said, If you throw enough crap on the wall, sooner or later some of it will stick. Welcome to Omar Land folks.
Would love to have. Also, former Univ of Memphis student. Best of both worlds for me - get to root for a former Tiger on the Dolphins
Claims he is drinking with people at the senior bowl. That's where the info is coming from. Certainly possible.
I think it's a given. Every team that needs a RB probably has Williams at the top. What'd be freaking funny is if we somehow got Williams and Benson. I'd cream myself.
whoa. Omar is a mentor to some. easy now............ Jerome Harrison would be a nice pickup IMO. very under rated player and cant imagine he would be all that pricy compared to others.
Williams is 28, and we'll probably have to overpay for him. I'd rather go with Benson, an early round rookie, and a mid to late round rookie. Save the FA money for WRs & TEs, rookie RBs can play right away, most WRs cant.
That's what worries me most about DeAngelo. He is 28, which is old for a RB and hasn't had the healthiest career. I wouldn't mind Jerome Harrison. He is 27 and has been in the league for 6 seasons already, but he only has 342 career attempts. I can't recall him having many injuries throughout his career either, except this past season. If we lose both Ronnie and Ricky, I'd really like to pair someone like Harrison with a rookie (Mark Ingram, Ryan Williams, Kendall Hunter, DeMarco Murray all interest me). Noel Devine still interests me, even at his size. He could be used like Dexter McCluster. He gets some carries, but mainly lives in the slot and use him with some trick plays.
I know they put him on IR in mid Nov, and that he could have played. I'm not totally against signing him but a 28 year old RB, coming off injury, is not my #1 choice. IF we do not draft Ingram, he is likely our best FA option.
Omar sure sounds like he's talking out his *** today with the Williams talk and MIA "leaning toward trading for a QB."
Oh yeah, thats a good place for " sound " info. If he is drinking with anyone its assistants to the agents or assistants to assitants of some coaches. Yeah, all these guys have the inside track Omar, thats why they are the title assistant, not agent. RIght now, this week, at the Sr. Bowl in Mobil, more BS, letting info " leak " , job seeking, employee seeking, is going on in each hotel lobby and meeting room. This week more out of work coaches get their face time. More HC and GMs get to see , first hand, and speak to, agents for prospective players they MAY be interested in. Talk to any agent you want I will am willing to bet he will say there is no less then 4 teams interested in his client. Omar buys into this crap each and every time. Just like the Detroit running back, Sure, the guy probably said what he said to Omar but never dreamed a small time rag would even print it. Each player, and agent are being shopped in Mobil right now. The Sr. Bowl is secondary to what is really going on down there each year.
I would love this acquisition. A younger complement to Brown, although De Williams is rather similar styles of running, he's a little quicker and faster than Brown. I doubt that Ricky will re-sign with us, so finding someone is paramount. I'd really rather see us target an interior OL in FA and then draft if we have to, assuming Brown can be re-signed as well... Damn CBA issue...you rich kids and your parents (thanks PFT, for the analogy) need to get your act together and resolve this....
agree. although when he had his run with Cleveland he was getting lots of carries, but I dont he could handle that load for 16 games. if you picked him up and then drafted a guy, I could live with that tandem.
I didn't think you needed any excuses to cream yourself. Just sayin. So you don't want Tolbert anymore? Is that what you're saying?
I'm dreaming of a Cedric Benson, Ryan Williams, Noel Devine, Lex Hilliard or Cobbs backfield next year. It'll probably never happen but if I does, look for us to be back in the top 5-7 in rushing.
I think I'm slightly more smitten with Quizz than Todman at this point.... but that could flip-flop a few times before the draft. All I know is if we're opening up the playbook or spreading out the field, then we desperately need a COP back who's amazing in space. Quizz's toughness, balance, competitive nature, and nose for the endzone would be pretty hard for me to pass up..... and you gotta love a kid who plays much bigger than his size suggests.
Why do people here want Benson? FOrget the gaudy fantasy football stats for just a minute. This is a guy who lacks speed, has had 300 carries in each of the past 2 years (800 over the past 3), isn't a good receiver, has poor averages and... oh yeah... is a complete knucklehead. Have we all forgotten how many times our favorite workhorse has been arrested? 3.5 4.2 3.5 No. Those are not Benson's blood alcohol contents. Those are his average YPC over the past three years. Is that what we all want? You know what? How about you guys pay me $100,000 per year and I'll suit up on Sundays? Sure, Williams has some baggage with his injury concerns, but when he plays, he goes hard. In 5 years, he's missed 16 games, but he's still at a career 5.0 ypc, and as SICK mentioned, he would've missed less games had the Panthers not been trying to get Andrew Luck With Benson, you're buying a a car with a check engine light that's been on for years.
