http://www.miamiherald.com/2011/01/30/2041510_p2/miami-dolphins-next-big-win-must.html Well, a couple of things: -I've been banging the drum about how many picks the Patriots have in the top of Draft 2011 for quite sometime now, however Ireland also has shown the ability to find diamonds in the muck, and the Patriots have overloaded on draft choices, so many in fact prior high picks will have to be released. -Ireland said: That drives me nutz, "in my opinion" he is running things, not chatting on a message board and talking about some draft prospect, act confident and you will soon be confident, this is one of the things that drives me crazy, it is as if the entire Staff has been neutered. I sometimes think the presence of Parcells and Pennington has been a detriment in the sense that instead of Confidence being instilled the opposite has happened "one of many" has emerged, the antithesis of Confidence in one's own abilities or ones own employees. Ireland also said: Uhhm, maybe someone should inform the lad that we are 2-2 vs the Bills in the last two seasons? In 09 the Bills loss was crushing, in 10 the Bills loss was only embarrassing, if anything he should add them to the list as well as we should have mopped the floor with them the last two seasons and we have not done so and they are only going to get better, that is the unspoken thing in the AFCE, the Bills have a solid Offense and yrs of high picks means they cannot help but add talent on the defense.
You know we heard the same crap last year how well we played against colts and the saints the two teams that made the superbowl last year.It doesn't mean **** we still finished with the same damm record.
Only this yr, we beat both, last yr we lost to both. The 2010 Dolphins were also even younger than the 2009 Dolphins.
No, we beat the Stealers. What I find odd about the losing streak to end the yr is when it is pointed out that we beat the Packers pessimists say "oh, but they had injuries!" however they are not quite as quick to say the same when our losses are brought up.
Say what ever you want the scoreboard said we lost.If the coaching staff had any balls we would have won but we didnt and i don't want to hear excuses about bad calls. I am not one of the ones that said we beat green bay because of injuries. We played our best game that day but that does not mean we are any closer to being a contender. The nfl has upsets every week,do you think the browns are close because they beat the pats and the saints?
You watched the game, no excuses needed, we beat the packers and we played 8 games against teams that made the playoffs.
Remember that 5 of those 6 losses came at home where I lay ALOT of blame at the feet of owner Stephen Ross...where the organization's focus on home games was more about celebrity and partying than it was about football. As much as I like Gloria Estafan, these minority celebrity owners need to just sit back, not get involved with the team and let the business of the Miami Dolphins be about football and not about the crowds they can draw for this that or the other events. Becomes too much of a distraction to the players. Ross said he's heard the fans....well, we'll see
We lost to the Steelers. Even if we would have gotten the ball back, we would have to punt it back to them and then they drive for a TD. Either way we lost. This!!
I hope I'm wrong, but I suspect what will happen is a major step backwards in 2011 unless: 1) the draft & free agency are very kind to Miami, providing a franchise QB, a starting Center & Guard, a speed-demon @ WR, who can also field punt & kick returns 2) Sparano figures out how to coach the game & his new OC was a good call & comes through like Nolan did on defense 3) our defense continues to grow into its abilities & special teams significantly improves what are the chances? tempered expectations: the defense will continue to grow, keeping most games close.
I'm sorry but this to me just sounds like grasping at straws for an excuse why we lost games. Several teams around the league have pre-game festivities, it has nothing to do with the performance on the field.
Last off season, we spent a ton of money on Marshall and Dansby. They played well BUT, others we counted on did not. This off season, we heed to find a RB, a stud on the OL, and a few complimentary pieces, a second TE, a returner, and a QB who can challenge Henne. IF we solve these problems, I will be happy, and they are not "Mission Impossible."
If it wasn't for Ross, there would of been a hell of a lot more orange seats all year..That I give him credit for.
