http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/NFL-draft-rumors-6583.html Mostly negative, but also notice now Bunting and Kiper have Cam Newton going to the Bills at #3 in their mock drafts. And Ryan Kerrigan is going to make some GM look really sharp, I think of him as a healthier version of Chris Canty coming out.
I've been saying both of those for a while. I agree with him on Kerrigan and Bailey. EDIT: I agree with him on most things. Only thing I don't agree on is Lee Ziemba. I don't think he should go that high. And I haven't watched David Mims.
Well, then you both are wrong on Kerrigan.. I see him as larger, longer armed version of Matt Roth, and Roth went off the board in the low 40's?
Kerrigan to Roth, Canty went into the 05 season as a candidate for all sorts of awards and he had a injury plagued season and slid to the 4th rd, Kerrigan was healthy in 2010 but still will probably slide a bit. The thing that I love about Kerrigan is his enjoyment of the game, he is a football head and enjoys playing, add in the productivity and I think he is going to make a fine professional.] As for Alen Bailey, to me he is to much like McDougle(?), he went in the first rd and was more or less a Fish.
I agree with the Kerrigan note EXCEPT for the part about him anchoring against the run. I think he has that ability at the next level. I've been saying for a while now you do NOT put this guy at linebacker. It would be a huge mistake. He's not the kind of athlete you want there, which would be OK if he moved like a linebacker, like Jermaine Cunningham did...but he doesn't. You put him at DE and have him run the arc all day. He's a good two-way player though, he can pass rush and he can play against the run and maintain gap control, use his hands and get off blocks. Have him do THAT. Then on pass rush downs teach him to be more consistent with his first step, give him a few more tools at his disposal as far as counters go and stuff like that, and he'll be an impact player. It won't be right away, it'll play out a lot like Chris Long's evolution as a player. It's nice that some people are finally catching up to what I've been saying for a while now on Kerrigan's lack of fluidity or athleticism and his inability to play in space, it'd just be nice if they catch ALL the way up to what I've been saying, and they see the value of Kerrigan as a DE in a 4-3.
Allen Bailey is still one of the most confusing players in the Draft. Sometimes I swear I'd like to see him drop 20 lbs and become a linebacker.
I want to see his agility drill times, that is the one thing overlooked with Roth for a such a solid block of a player he was actually quite agile.
