Not arguing with you at all, but how does signing an older and oft injured TE negate drafting one if the right one is there? Especially given Ireland's system of drafting 2 positions at a time?
Because whomever is drafted would be the #3 Te, and rarely play let alone be active on Game Days, if that is all they are going to do we'd be better off having a Epps/Mastrud/Shuler competition for the #3 slot.
Depends who the TE would be that we drafted. An awful lot of TE's contributed in their first year last year.... the John Jerry choice looks even worse now than it did then and it did not look good at all then imo.
Exactly, Sparano and Irish have their taste in Olineman all messed up, they have not drafted or signed a Starter on the Oline since Big Jake at #1 overall and the S Florida media is too wimpy to call them out on it. Thing is, Vern Carey struggled his first season as well, so hopefully Jerry is from the same mold...that is what I tell myself anyway..
So hard to tell with a young Olinemen, was his "illness" really an illness or did he just stink? Will he make a jump up in Yr #2? When I looked up the best available FA interior Olinemen, Harvey Dahl was on the list and it took him 3yrs to get to be any good at Guard. People also tend to forget that Vern Carey really bounced around the Oline, LT, LG, RT.
Does anyone really have confidence in our medical staff? Whoever our QB is next season they will need to have strong leadership skills or Shockey will take over in the huddles. I would approach this with cautious optimism.
