Not a offensive player, but Gabe Watson would make a nice plan B insurance policy if Soliai goes crazy with his fork this offseason, the Cardinals have no real use for him and he'd be a sharp pickup ala McDaniel in 09. He and Kevin Smith are my two most likely players for us to sniff around so far, not so much MSW, another name to watch is the Bengals Livings, a LG and maybe Darryn Colledge a LG for the packers.
I am pretty much interested in ANY true NFL 3-4 NT to backup Paul Soliai, as we do not have one on the roster atm. That is why I am interested in Kris Jenkins, if he is repairable.
I think he would go for that, because he would probably play close to 50% of the snaps or so for the first three quarters to keep Soliai fresh for the fourth quarter. I doubt he will get a starting job unless it is a VERY weak team at this point in his career.
Ok...kind of like with Ferguson last year before the injury. Keeps both of them fresh and makes it deeper in depth. I see what you are saying.
I think Jenks is done bro, and I liked his game with the Panthers, but two ACL's on the same knee is natures way of telling the man something. As for Watson, to me he is McDaniel II, he has the talent but he needs something to bring it out that the Cardinals were not offering.
You are probably right about Gabe, but I want us to turn over any stone, and I remember Kris Jenkins causing us fits before playing for the jests. He was a stud.
I am in the DO NOT DRAFT any 300+ lb O or D Lineman group this year. But in the seventh round...eh what the hay.
It bothers Ireland that they passed on All Pro Returner Mike Mariani in the 7th rd CiF, for Chris McCoy. Add in Brandon Banks was a UDFA and he had over 1,500 return yds and a TD and I think they take a Returner type in the late rounds..hopefully.
I haven't put much time into scouting this year and admit that I feel honored to get the great depth and analysis from the great posters in the Club Level (worth every penny) regarding draft prospects. So I only looked at the first two rounds or so of prospects. But I am all for playmakers and points scorers. We had what, the number five defense in the league last season? Let's score some points now guys.
Defense lacks balls CiF, they lack that sort of drive to impose their will on opponents, that bothers me a tonne as great defenses live for that sort of thing, instead we had 30 dropped int chances and a blow out in the final game. I thought that was the problem back when Zach and Madison and Taylor and Surtain were all pros and they had better short circuit it right now before it becomes established.
That is why I said our draft priorities are in order (regarding our #1 pick) : A) QB B) WR C) LB D) DB
-Trade back -Rb -G -OLB/ILB- Qb is a roll of the dice that I just do not think will happen CiF, though I'd like Mallet we need productive snaps from that #15 pick not a clipboard holder.
just as you said in the MSW thread, "Salary Cap realities folks" and watson is a luxury we can´t afford, just sign McDaniel and be done with it
Watson would be a 4 yr minimum type of signing, Mcdaniel would be in line for Starter money, 800k vs 4 million.
