I would have traded tony g for a late round draft pick and no one wanted him due to his salary and watch him go for even more in fa
Wow Jacoby Jones??? I watched him basically every game for 2 years and he makes Ted Ginn look like Cris Carter. Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
I'm surprised I need to actually defend legal bids but I can say both Dukane and I have pretty good reasons for bidding when we have. Due to absence I found out free agency started about 50 hours into it meaning I made a lot of late bids. Then Dukane got back from vacation another 2 days into it and made some bids himself. And it takes time for the 2 of us to coordinate our bids. We're just bidding on the guys we want, that's all. I'm shocked to see such an uproar about it.
Skeet (and others we have done this too...Atlanta twice..) I echo monstblitz comment above me and I hear you and feel bad, but when you can only have 10 bids active...this happens. We are literally strategizing as time is coming to an end on bids. ie today we have a bid up at 1:11pm and if we lock that player up we may be making a late run a player we want...part of us is hoping someone else bids too so we dont have to be that 'douche'... We are getting outbid on J.Jones and Bush and deciding should we stop and jump in on another WR and RB (late in the process) or keep bidding... Edwards we backed off, but now Floyd is getting crazy high so we decided to jump back in. We feel bad and talk about it...but it is within the rules and we truly just want to have fun. We hope you and any one else negatively impacted by a possible late bid we make understand and know we feel bad and are not trying to be *** holes.
7 mil on braylon edwards? did I read that right? If he plays consistently like he did in the playoffs and not the dropsies like his last 6 years than it is good, but defines diva
true i have overpaid before for a player, many may 2.5 for Breaston was too much, but Breaston has not shown to be the diva Braylon is. you gotta do what you think makes your team better n if a player makes that much diff for your team you have to do what you need to. i just dont see how you can forget history
Breaston brings alot to the table and I dont think you overpaid personally, he is an above average slot WR.
Well, I think it's easy to question what players are being paid. Here's my question though. When people are bidding on WRs, I'm assuming they are bidding on how they will perform wherever they end up in the real NFL as opposed to how they might actually perform on the team that picks them? Is that how most people vote at the end of this thing? I mean, sure Malcolm Floyd will put up big numbers with Phil Rivers throwing him the ball. But if he ended up with someone like Vince Young throwing him the ball (just an example) I would imagine his numbers to be pretty pedestrian. So let's say I got a scrub at QB, pay big money for a guy like Floyd, Floyd has a huge year in the real NFL with Phil Rivers. Do people give me votes because my receiver had a great year, even though he probably would have bummed out if he really played with my QB? Might be a stupid question, but I'm a rookie so go easy on me.
Jacoby Jones was an hour away from being won for $300K. I put a bid on him quick so I could chase after him later when I got a few other guys figured out... just trying to drag out the process. I figured I could get him somewhere between $500K and $1.0M. Had I chose to free up either Amendola or Laurent Robinson instead of Jones, I'm willing to bet they'd be going for $2.0M+ or very close.
We'll do a voting before the season starts so if you have a scrub at QB, it definitely hurts. However I'm thinking about simulating a season through Madden 2012 when that comes out... just for the hell of it. I'd probably sim once per week so it wouldn't be as big of a pain to record the stats for every game.. give everyone something else to look forward to as well.
Yeah at first it was "no way I am doing that" situation but then I thought how it would take an hour out of my week if I just did one week of games every Thursday (or something to that effect).
I bid on my guys based off how they fit my scheme. I don't often go after big names though, probably why I never win this thing.
You want Bob Sanders to try to play anymore games than the 3 he'll play for San Diego as is? Slave driver, man.
I didn't think he was worth over 3 million, so I wasn't going to jump in and go beyond 5 million for a guy who's got some nice numbers but is a benefactor of Allen's. I've got a couple young guys that could be the same player. But I got your train of thought, just like keeping together an O-Line, you wanted to pair the same bookends and see if it works.
On the Madden front, when would you run the games with our rosters? During the regular NFL season I suppose. And I would think the whole rating discrepancy would average out?
Probably after the first roster update. I don't think I could update the rosters in the middle of a franchise (like their ratings) though.
