I would hope the incoming rookies sign their own TV contracts to make themselves money. Since there is no CBA, they're under no obligation to appear for free to make the NFL money.

Where have you guys been ? I dumped my Sunday Ticket right after last season ended.

Truth be told, I was taking the advice from someone on here, to threaten to cancel and they would try to renew you at a much reduced rate. Only when I said I wanted to cancel, the lady said, "sure sir" and did it, and never offered me the discount. What went wrong ???? :confused2:

No obligation to walk across the stage after graduating from College either, Smith is offbase with this boycott.

Those players are not paid to appear in NYC anyway, they do wind up with a expenses paid weekend in NYC and to fulfill their life long ambition of being drafted into the NFL, you know, the culmination of over a decade of mind blowingly hard work for most of them.

You guys do realize, that the NBA (an almost certainty) and MLB (to a lesser degree) are also set to have their CBA's run out as well at the end of their seasons this year. If the NFL doesn't get one by the start of next season, we could see 3 of the 4 major sports be out over labor issues.

Won't that be a pretty kettle of fish ! :tantrum:

True, I also have more reasons than Sunday Ticket.....FOX Soccer Plus has rugby, Logo has some programming I enjoy and can't elsewhere, I also get for $ 3.50 a month both WABC in New York, and KABC in Los Angeles [that's how I saw the last playoff win over Indy - it was on ABC] and I also see many of the ABC college games that are on ESPN Game Plan and the many more HD channels than Comcast or DISH give us to choose from.

Ummmm, never heard of that before. I do my DirecTV month to month. When I did briefly cancel it in Dec 2009 to get U-Verse (UGH !!!!!) for a month, I never had a cancellation fee or any penalty when I brought it back in February 2010 (I call my month with U-Verse my January from Hell !!!!!)

Hey Mate, sorry for the loss to England on Sunday. I love Scottish rugby and especially a fan of Ross Ford their hooker and Chris Patterson their 15th man. I know its not soccer, but I would guess you follow them too.

    Nice.

I was going to say something to that effect but why bother now.

    Ah well, here's my take...

Geez I get to miss another season of mediocre to bad football by this Dolphins team?

Heaven forbid I find something else to do on Sundays that doesn't raise my blood pressure, almost give me a stroke, and take my anxiety levels to new heights every Sunday.

Screw it, they should be paying me to give a crap. After all the more I watch and spend my money on them, the more they make via TV ads and whatnot. Nevermind when I can actually afford to go to a game and pay for 4 tickets.

Just so that I care more about a loss than even the players themselves.

I am making them rich, meanwhile they are taking off years of my life. I dont know how that tradeoff is fair. At least the players get money for the damage to their bodies.

I wonder what 3 days of extremely low ratings for the draft would do for the NFL/PA? You wanna send a message early, that would be one.

I got all kinds of awesome free hd dvr and nfl ticket upgrades if i signed a 2 year contract, I wasnt leaving them anyways, so I signed.....working here at the bank I see alot of people with contracts, and they get outrageous charges/fees if canceled ($175+)....but if you do it month to month, you have no worries.

If you don't have loyalty to do that then who really needs you.
Have fun shopping with the girls at the mall.

Do people in this thread really feel that self important to think the Dolphins or the sport in general will really miss them.
Probably the same ridiculous ones who wore these. :bag:

I love how the people who said they were boycotting the NFL and the Dolphins have better things to do with their life yet they still show up here and talk about it.
I find that to be flat out hypocritical.

Wouldn't a true boycott of the team and it's sport also include staying away from a football message board?

Why worry about it? People are going to vent and express their frustrations in their own ways. Obviously the Dolphins are very important to all of us or we wouldn't be here.

But you said time away from the NFL would add years to your life yet you are still here talking about it. I find it hypocritical and it makes no sense. You boycott the NFL but yet you are still here.
I think it just shows a lack of class but typical from this fan base.

Agreed its kinda like a person that will never finish an argument without saying the last word. Its like....ok if you dont care to miss a dolphins season, then go painting or something, like telling us other fans about how you would benefit from not watching the dolphins means anything to us?! pppffftttt ill be there screaming, cheering, and loving every second of miami dolphins football next time they are on the field, harder than ever. Cause thats what I do

It's not about stopping posting it is a "do it or don't" kind of thing. People come preaching to boycott the NFL yet they do it half ***.
If you are going to do it do it all the way otherwise just STFU and let the rest of us real fans enjoy the experience, good times or bad times.

First of all, if there was NFL this year I would absolutely watch it and love it just as much as ever. But if there was no NFL season, yeah, I would find something else to do with my time, and yeah it would probably add years to my life. I get waaay too stressed about football. I enjoy it, but damn does the NFL season take a toll on me. Nothing I said was hypocritical. I planned to cancel Sunday Ticket anyway. I'll renew at a discounted rate if the NFL season happens.

What about me posting here is hypocritical? I can't be upset at the threat of no NFL season and still love the Dolphins at the same time? Only speaking for myself, but I was never trying to say football or the Dolphins wasn't an important part of my life. Just trying to say that if the season doesn't happen, life will go on and I'll try to find some positives about it.

No reason to infer that I or anybody else posting in this thread lacks class.

Just as I presumed...... You are one of those part time boycotters. Works for you to join a cause out of convenience but if things change you are right back on the bandwagon. I can see it. That is where the hypocrisy is. Not a damn one of you will stop watching football WHEN it comes back.

As far as a lack of class I was comparing this cause to those bag wearing morons that were at the games when times are bad. Are they still wearing those bags like in 2007. I would say not. They too were both hypocrites and classless.

Poop or get off the pot. Do it or don't.

When did I ever say I would boycott the NFL? Don't place a label on me. I'm not joining any causes. Cancelling Sunday ticket and boycotting the NFL are 2 entirely different things. How exactly are you saying you're different from me? What are you going to do if there's no NFL season? Roll over and die because you LOVE the NFL so much more than me and the rest of the "hypocrites"?

That is what it sounds like to me. In this post you said you wouldn't watch even if it was on. Also the title of the thread is "It's time for the Fans to Strike".
From here it sure looked like you were joining the cause now you are backpedaling. You said two different thing in two different posts. :wink2:

Yes I would be crushed if there is no NFL because I'm a huge fan. I'm also loyal.
It won't happen though. Good thing for the boycotting trendsters here.

The chances of NFL fans banding together to boycott all things NFL are about the same as years ago with actors and writers.

Some suggested that fans, of TV and movies, stop watching to show that it was the fans who made TV and the movies.

I do not know, for a fact, those who went along with that. I can only guess that there may have been a few thousand, in the entire country, who went along with not watching for a week or so. :)

    This is somewhat similar.

I have a hard time giving in for things like these. I don't think that the message will be released to a mass audience thus not making an impact. It's like hearing the people say "I'm just not going to buy Madden, that'll show them!"

I think you'll have fans that turn their back for a year, then come back. I think you'll have fans who never come back. And then I think you'll have fans that never stray... and I think the majority won't stray.

Everything I said was predicated on the fact that there would be no NFL season. I could never even dream of not watching the NFL as long as it was being played. I might not buy Sunday Ticket, but rest assured I would be somewhere watching it. Probably a bar.

The only thing I will backpedal from is where I said I would find something "better" to do. Because at this point, there isn't much I love more than watching the Miami Dolphins play football.

Regarding your last sentence. I don't mind you questioning my statements regarding the NFL and how I will react to a work stoppage. But please don't question my loyalty to the Miami Dolphins. As you yourself hinted at, we all post on a Dolphins message board. No need to question any of our loyalty. You mentioned the 2007 season. I watched every minute of every game. Without a bag on my head.

The difference is the NFL does not benefit financially from anyone who reads or posts on fan forums such as this one. They benefit financially from season ticket sales, Sunday Ticket signups and buying of NFL merchandise, jerseys, etc.
