Looking forward to what he can do with a competent OC.

I'm surprised Henne did as well as he did in that game with all things considered. It's much more painful watching the second time around. lol.

The first four or so games, Henning is fine calling the plays. He does a good job mixing it up. The issue is after those games, he doesn't change it up. He keeps doing the same thing over and over and over again. It was either All Hitches, Smash, or Levels. Sometimes Comebacks. Once I saw him deviate when he called an F Post for Cobbs against Oakland. I think it went for like 38 yards and a touchdown. I was surprised.

I agree with you here; however, I disagree about the Jets game. Every time Henne was making plays, Henning subbed the WC which did absolutely nothing but stall the offense. It took Dan roughly a half of football to make decent adjustments, and some of the calls inside field goal range were extremely suspect.

Inside 12 minutes of 2nd Qtr (down 14-0): Henne throws 2 beautiful passes to Bess to move us from our 45 down to Jets 18.
Chad is yanked for 2 wildcat plays in a row that take us from the Jets 18 back to the 30.

3rd qtr down 21-17, Henne hits Hartline for 28. 3 plays later he hits Marshall for 40 down to the Jets 8. Chad's been on fire and is marching us down the field to score. So what does Henning do? He yanks Chad for the wildcat AGAIN that hasn't done crud all game and it loses us 9 yards. We settle for a FG.

8 minutes left to play and down by 4, Wildcat for loss of 6 on 1st down.
2nd & 16 we run a 2 WR set, with Polite on the field instead of Bess. Brilliant. Henne has to force it to doubled up Hartline while everyone is locked down.
3rd & 16: Henne to Marshall for 9 to play for FG.

If a coach can't see what his hot hand is during a game, then there's a serious problem. Henne was the hot hand, and the WC was putrid, yet time and time again Chad was pulled for it.

The Jets couldn't stop Chad Henne, but Dan Henning sure knew how to do it

Rewatching the game, if Henning ignored the floundering WC and we had a legit speed threat to connect with on our first play of the game, Henne likely throws for 450 yards, 4 TDs, and 0 INTs rather than 363, 2 TDs, 1 INT.

Look at our first play from scrimmage. We try using the element of surprise to beat rookie Kyle Wilson (in his 3rd game) over the top. Hartline catches Wilson taking a nap and separates initially. However, Hart's lack of good top end speed prevents him from separating further from Wilson (who is no burner in his own right but is still faster than Hartline).

Henne needs a precise 50 yard pass to Brian b/c Kyle is close on his heels, and a slight under throw could be a pick thanks to Hartline's mediocre ability to play the ball downfield. Chad can't afford to lay it up b/c that would allow Kyle time to close. If 4th round pick, Jacoby Ford, is the target instead, the pass can be thrown further with more loft because we both know that once Jacoby beats Kyle, he'll continue to separate from him down the field. There's no worry about the CB closing, so there's less need to be precise (since a 50 yard pass shouldn't require the accuracy of a 10 yard out). You lay it up and let the receiver finish the play after he's beaten his man. Did I leave anything out, GM?

I mean play design wise. That's my fault for not being clear.

Just to run clearouts or hitches. I think Vickers had like 4 or 5 catches on the year, though I could be off. That's off the top of my head.

you are very correct sir...I understand exactly what Alen is saying, there was some nice mix in the first 3 games so far, but the inappropriate use of the wildcat formation was the most unprofessional thing I believe that I have ever seen..I swear, iam not exaggerrating..and iam the biggest wildcat fan here...the man does not know how to incoporate the formation into his offense, bottom line.

once again, this is 100 percent accurate..and you know my position up until this point.

Iam gonna disagree with you here brother, Kyle wilson saw Hart the whole way, and had a 10 yard cushion, I thought Hart showed great speed and stride on the play.
