http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/04/26/report-steelers-want-to-trade-up-pair-mike-with-maurkice/ I'd do that trade for Pitt's 2nd rounder even though it falls short of meeting the trade value chart. If we're potentially talking about Ingram or Pouncey at #15, I'll take Ryan Williams and a 2nd round player instead of Ingram alone....... and ditto for both LG Danny Watkins and a 2nd round pick over Pouncey. I'm sure Stitches would like to use this as an opportunity to snag TE Kyle Rudolph at #31.
I'd want more than the two late picks in rounds 1 and 2. Maybe their 3rd rounder for our 4th as well (a trade up for us)
I don't see why they wouldn't go along with that. Swapping 4th for 3rd would be huge in itself. I'd love to see our 4th round pick fall right before the 4th round. (that could mean the difference between landing one of the mid round stud COP backs or playmaking #2 TEs). Sign me up.
Pick 15 to the Steelers for their pick 31 and, Mike Wallace . Then we take Ryan Williams at 31. Then my alarm clock wakes me up . I'm with DFM though. We got a 29 and a 40 for pick 12, so for pick 15 we should get slightly less than that.
You should probably turn that up so I can hear it, too. It seems like they're announcing it early to create competition for teams wanting to trade back--- "whomever accepts the least in trade, wins" sort of thing. If push came to shove, I'd take the 2nd, but I'd try and play hardball for the swap of 3rd for 4th.
how about, just pick Pouncey, then force their hand to trade for him after the fact -- much more leverage there IF in fact they are that 'in love' with him.
At the end of the day IF we do make a deal with them, I hope we bend them over real good. I'm still bitter over that Week 7 BS.
Oh yes, why take a discount and move away from the Blue Chip types in favor of picks for a reduced compensation? What makes this draft tough for me is the Top 12 is really unsettled as to positional needs, the Redskins for example could go Qb they could go Wr they could go NT, normally I have a feel for who is coming off the board in the Top 12 and this yr I have no idea.
My dream scenario would be a trade with SD, then again with a team like New Orleans or Pitt. I think we could pick up at least one 2nd rounder, and two 3rd rounders. That would be schweet! How would you like to recoup the second round pick we gave up for Meathead, er, um...I mean Marshall, and add two more 3rd's to our draft this season Dolphans?
If the Steelers want to give up a 1st and a 2nd for a RG then we should gladly take it, but I think a 5th is needed to make the trade a little more even. Then picking at that point I think we take a QB, or Ryan Williams. Cant believe this thing is tommorow?
On my trade value chart the picks are valued as such: Dolphins #15 = 1050 total = 1050 Steelers #31 = 625 #63 = 280 #95 = 120 total = 1025 That's a pretty even trade and I'd be real happy with that. If the Steelers are really "exhausting all realistic possibilities" then they should be happy wit it too.
Trade downs can work , no doubt. They don't do so automatically though , at some point we need to make a bold pick with a high choice that makes a difference imo. If they are sold on a difference maker at QB and he is there , count me as a no for trading back. Jury is still out from last year , and we may not like the verdict when it is delivered. Not sure if Pitt would think #15 is right for Pouncey , they may though ... That is a long way to drop for Miami , they better get value if they do , and then they better take advantage of that. I tend to to think Pitt as a trade down has a pretty low chance of occuring.
Hypothetically speaking...What players do you think we could get out of Pitt, given that we can trade players now in the draft? These are some guys I would want to target in the move down: 1. Emmanuel Sanders (I would bust) 2. Chris Kemoeatu (Doubt Pitt would deal him, but idk) 3. Jonathan Dwyer (Not a ton of value, but could be a decent 3rd back for us, plus he would come cheap so we could get more picks in the deal) 4. Isaac Redman (Not a special player, but could help the run game tremendously) I knew Pitt would try to trade up (hopefully to us) and I would be happier if we got a player + picks, rather than just picks. They have a lot of good players on their team. Maybe the deal one of them to move up for Pouncey. Possibly...#15 for #31, #63, Emmanuel Sanders, and #196? I don't know how much they value Sanders, but who knows?
I just read something from PFT that this could totally be the straw that breaks Toddsphin back. Rams are eyeing a defensive tackle. Which means there is a possibility that Julio Jones falls to the 15th. Wouldn't you want to see the meltdown of Miami trading down and drafting a guard with Julio Jones there at 15? *Disclaimer* I would rather Miami draft Julio Jones than trade down.
My dream scenerio is Miami to trade back to 31, and get CK (the QB not the guru) with it.....if obivously nobody slips like Jones, Gabbert, Green...etc... They would need to get 2 draft picks back for it to happen as Pitt would go from 31 to 15.....Pitt's 2nd is 63, so basically a 3rd rounder...they would have to kick more in...
The only guys I would rather take instead of trading back are Julio Jones, AJ Green, or Von Miller. 99% sure none of them will be there, but if JJ is, then we better take him.
The only way I see Pitt trade back working is if Miami does a double trade back, where they trade back to the upper 20s for a 3rd rounder and then trade down with Pittsburgh for their 2nd.
If Miami were to trade back with Pitt, my guess is that they would be targeting one of four players with that 31st pick, In no particular order, CKap, Ponder, Ingram or Ryan Williams.
I think the problem with that though is that both NE and the Giants may be possible destinations for Pouncey.
Delighted with this scenerio as well my friend... You have to think they could safetly do it if no trades happen because no team needs a QB after Jax at 16 besides Seattle at 25..... however I have to think, someone with a early 2nd round would jump back into the late 1st for a QB, alla the Jets did with Sanchez
Couple thoughts: 1. If the Steelers gave up their 1st, 2nd and 3rd round picks they would still be about 64 points short of equal value. I dont see the Steelers giving up those three picks for Pouncey. Though I (personally) would take that offer. 2. As I read the article, it sounded as if the Steelers would trade up if Pouncey slid into the 20's which would be a much more manageable trade for them. IMO, a more realistic trading partner for us would be KC. We could get their 1st and 2nd, swap 3rds and come our pretty close. We could then trade down with Pitt (if Pouncey is still there) for their 1st and 3rd and a late rounder or a lick from next years draft.
I really have no idea about the draft value and all that. But wouldn't it work out well for the Dolphins to trade back with San Diego at 18 and then from there trade back to Pitt? I'd figure it would get more draft picks out of the deal?
Well, if they got Maurkice in the late 1st and they're willing to trade down to get his brother implies they think Mike be better. Seems fishy to me...I call shenanigans.
Maurkice was the 18th pick of the first round... but I think you are right this is nothing more then pre draft BS (IMO)
Jones is an exciting guy, but I'd rather trade down & get Ryan Williams and Greg Little than only Jones. We HAVE to get a couple good backs, preferably thru the draft,so that we don't have to overpay for a FA. Hoping there's still some quality starters available in the 3ed round or beyond is too big a risk IMO.
I wouldnt mind seeing us trade back to 20 with the Bucs or 19 with the Giants for their 2nd rounder as Boomer predicts in his Mock, then rather than drafting Pouncey trade back again with the Steelers or Pats and pick up another 2nd rounder. That would be the best way to improve the team IMO. We could still land Ingrim, Mallett, Ponder, or some other slide player. Maybe grab Ingram and one of the QB's listed.
That'd be awesome. Or if we could trade down once for a 3rd, and then with Devnver for their 36 & 46 so we'd have 2 2's and 2 3's. Sweet.
The trade points don't decide the trade; the teams do. If you feel you benefit from it, you make the trade despite what the points may say. Why would KC want to trade with us? The players they're targeting should be there at 21.
that would be more feasible. The Chargers might want to leapfrog the Pats (if NE is still at 17) in order to draft the 3-4 DE they want, JJ Watt. We could net a 3rd rounder from that....... and then trade back with Pitt for a 2nd and a 4th. Having 4 picks in the top 100 with an extra 4th would be awesome.
Reports from Pittsburgh label this story as pure fantasy , it is believe it or not time , full force.
I believe it. You know Maurkice is fighting hard for his brother to come play with him. I also remember last year sometime the Steelers saying they would love to have both brothers playing next to each other.
If they want him that bad. The Dolphins should demand the Steelers first round pick this year along with their second round picks this year and in 2012.
to the first part... DUH (no offense intended) to the KC ?, I read somewhere the Chefs were interested in moving up but I forget for who it was SO... I really cant answer your question (and it was probably pre-draft BS anyways).
