Hi guys, here's the video(s) of Thomas. This is the first, I will add one later and I'm working on Charles Clay as well. Here you go:
Thanks for the late & early morning hours working on this thing, Con....... unless you pirated it, which you probably did b/c you're lazy like that.
Well, he definitely has game speed. Pretty decent vision and burst, too. Not elite, but pretty decent. I really like how he made something out of nothing a few times. Great hands also. That all said, it's a little infuriating how he'll fight off three tacklers on one play, then allow himself to get dragged down by a one-handed grab on another. Thanks for the video, that was great.
That is "fair use".. Akeem Ayers is #10 for UCLA and he had no shot at catching DT on that long run on the option toss play, and he no chance at all of catching DT as soon as he turned his shoulders upfield at around the 4:00 or so.
With some coaching and a year in our conditioning program, I think this guy can be something special (or borderline special).
That K-State O-Line looks pretty bad. I'm seeing lineman blown off of blocks with just hand pushes. LB's are throwing them off without leverage in some instances. If he had a solid O-Line, he might have been a first round pick looking at his tape. Thanks for the vid bro.
He looks a bit like a young Duece McCalister who was 6'1" 232 pounds when he entered the league -though Duece was a slightly better athlete and had a thicker lower body. But the agility for such a big guy is what sticks out - both guys move with more fluidity than other 230 pound guys. Duece
Also, looks the Bengals were set to draft Thomas right before we jumped them. So he wouldnt have been there had we waited. http://www.cincyjungle.com/2011/5/1...als-targeted-kansas-state-running-back-daniel
Yeah, conditioning and experience will help him. Just looking at the vids available on him, though, he does look a little slow or "lumbering", if you will.
Only concern for me is whether he can handle a heavy load, Deuce and George were workhorse backs, if he can do that the offense is far better. Love that Tx v KSU footage!
Just goes to show you how wrong its is to pass judgement on a guy based on a single Youtube highlight reel. The more I watch this guy, the better I feel about him. Going to keep om digging for more footage.
He does one thing I will be soooooo happy to see for the Dolphins. He hits the hole with speed. Not much dancing around in the backfield waiting for something to open up for him to walk through. He sees a crack and he hits it. Bout time we had that for the dolphins.
KSU-Missouri Very strange gameplan. Lots of QB option plays in this game and Thomas didnt get many touches. Had one big run, two TD and a 50 yard pass downfield that was incomplete
This. Theyre constantly getting in his way and one of his guards is constantly in his way when he pulls.
Whats promising about him is how the feet do what his vision tells them to do..He's a natural runner..He's not fast, but he's natural,Better keep that ball tight to his body or else NFL will stand for you know what.. Amazing to think that this kid is going to replace the #2 player in a draft who is in his prime...what a disapointment.
While I agree Ronnie's tenure has been generally a disappointment (though I loved him here), age 29/30 is hardly a RB's prime IMO. That's about when the wheels start coming off.
Would be great to get some confirmation on the K State O Line as to how good or bad it was throughout the last 2 years. Looked pretty bad in the UCLA game. I thought Thomas looked ok overall. Seems like a good all-around back who can be productive behind a good O line. Traditional 1 cut back with ok speed. A little too uprght when running and the lack of lower body strength scares me a little in this regard. Hopefully they are not expecting him to carry the load.
KSU fan here and thought I could help you out a little. KSU O-line was average the past 2 years. They were poised to have a breakout 2010 but never lived up to expectations. It didnt help that defenses only had to gameplan to stop DT so 8+ were in the box alot. Our QB couldnt throw or run so Thomas was really our entire offense.
K-State fan here as well. You guys got the heart of our team these past 2 years. He had around 290 carries both seasons! Two 1,200+ yd seasons with NO passing game. He has also only been a RB for 2 years, he was a QB prior to coming to K-State. You guys are getting a really good back with the potential to be great.
Wildcat baby...It lives,it evolves..Just as I thought.. Y'all should see him sling the rock in high school. Freaking love it except for 1 thing, I'am the one who always has to defend it and keep telling people the revolution will continue..
LOL, exactly...and I love the above comment where it reads "makes people miss in the backfield". I just imagine Ireland and Sparano saying "He's perfect!"
Don't know if he's going to be a hit or a flop, but the little I'd seen of his highlight videos really don't knock my socks off or as Mad Dog used to say make my toes tingle. Nothing like Ronnie when he came out but then Ronnie was a top pick. Will definitely need to find a quality RB in FA especially since the crack squad organization is planning on the ground game. I hope they know what their doing ???
